The Atlantic gets top billing at Jekyll Coastline Cottage. Morning coffee on the upstairs deck comes with a view across the dunes to open water. On the screened porch below, a dining table and Adirondack chairs give you room to stay outside well past dinner. Inside, a vaulted white-plank ceiling rises above the kitchen, dining nook and living room, with tall French doors along the ocean-facing wall.

Five island seats keep the cook in the conversation, with a cushioned dining banquette nearby. A Keurig and electric kettle sit on the counter beside the dining nook. There's a second full-size refrigerator in the laundry room, too: groceries in one, cold drinks in the other.

SLEEP IN ON JEKYLL ISLAND

Three king beds make the adult-bedroom negotiations pleasantly short. Two bedrooms are downstairs and two are upstairs. The downstairs primary has a canopy bed and an ensuite bathroom with double sinks, a glass shower and a freestanding tub.

Four loungers with footrests line the side deck, and there's a paved patio beside the lawn. Beach access is a short walk away via the shared Seaside Retreat boardwalk.
