The Dowd house was a good stay. Plenty of room and pet friendly with 4 bedrooms, 3 baths, 2 kitchens! Loved the wood burning fireplace, and views from the upstairs rooms facing the coast. Waldport is a small town with only a few dining options, Mexican food place and pizza places were both wonderful. House is located on a high coastal bank. Getting to the beach was a bit difficult as the main pathway has had erosion and the stairs have been washed away on the final 10 feet down, so getting down was difficult. We were lucky to find a local who led us back another path down the beach that most would not know if he had not shown us. We also had a leak in the ceiling above the downstairs bedroom when someone was showering in the bathroom above and soaked part of the mattress below. Rental agency did offer to send someone out, but it was late on a holiday night, we managed as it was out last night. Amazing views, super comfortable beds. They would need to address the beach access, and leak in ceiling for me to return, but overall we had a fun time just the same.

Everything about this home was incredibly cute and beautifully decorated—it was such a fun place to stay. The views were absolutely breathtaking. I loved the unique layout with two sides to the home: two sets of stairs, two kitchens—it felt almost like a duplex, but we had the entire space to ourselves. The fireplaces were a wonderful touch and added so much coziness. The hot tub was a highlight for us, especially watching the sunset while soaking—truly unforgettable. The only downsides were that some of the beds weren’t the most comfortable, and the uneven floors posed a challenge. For my elderly father, who has balance issues, this led to a few near falls, which is worth noting for guests with mobility concerns.Overall, we’d give this place a solid 4.5 stars. We would most likely stay here again!

Location and views are wonderful. Had everything we needed and would highly recommend getting more comfortable beds. Makes you not want to stay longer than 3 nights. Very strict on no early check in or late check out. Overall it was very enjoyable.

The layout of the house gave everyone in our party the right amount of togetherness and privacy! The pine paneling, games and knickknacks made us nostalgic for previous trips to the coast—while the hot tub was a welcome upgrade for chilly mornings and late afternoons.

We enjoyed the view, the house was comfy and well appointed. Needed beach towels for 8, not the 5 that were provided.

We enjoyed our time in waldport and newport. The house had everything we needed to cook meals and get a good nights sleep. The hot tub was very clean and nice view of the pacific ocean.

The upstairs bedrooms were marvelous but the downstairs bedroom was so narrow it was difficult getting in and out of bed. The living room was nice but the furniture not suitable for elderly people with mobility problems. Firmer couches would be much better. The location was wonderful, all bathrooms were great and kitchen was well equipped. I did feel the price was too high.

This quirky cozy house was perfect for our thanksgiving celebration. We were a group of 7 friends with a couple dogs. The house is a mashup of a more modern, more open side and a cozy more cabin side. But most importantly for our group was the fact that there are two kitchens. This was fabulous for thanksgiving and would have been great to know in advance. We really loved the quirky vintage vibes of the older part of the house. It was really lovely to sit around the fireplace playing games (they have lots of games!) watching the ocean. We would absolutely stay here again. Although erosion has eaten away the beach access there is a public acess just a short drive away (you can walk it but a short portion is along the highway).

We enjoyed our visit, there was plenty of seating in the living room, the beds were comfortable and kitchen well stocked with dishes and cutlery. So many knives and can openers. Knives were dull but we found a sharpener. We rented both sides and used the smaller kitchen for our bar area. I prefer a house with more natural light, and with the dark paneling it was dark. Loved seeing the ocean from both rooms.

Although touted loudly and with an exclamation point in the title, this property does NOT have beach access. We rented this specific property in large part because of that beach access. We had a group and the convenience of being to go directly onto the beach was very important. We didn't want to have to drive to beach access. Four days prior to check-in, we received the various check-in information and, hidden in that information, was a special notice that beach access through the neighborhood was no longer safe and the at the nearest beach access was around the corner half a mile down the highway, at a state park. That is NOT around the corner in any sense of that phrase. That we were told of this detail only four days prior to check-in and far too late to cancel and receive a refund or be offered any alternative, is unacceptable. Sure, it's possible that the change was some kind of recent development, but I doubt that's the case since the title of the property listing, as of this morning 9/26/24, STILL clearly shouted Beach Access. That seems like deceptive advertising, at best. I have complained directly to the host/management company. We'll see what they say. As for the house itself, it's OK. The photos in the listing which are very prettied-up but it's OK. FUNKY, would be the word I'd use to describe the place. Again, it was fine and served its purpose, other than no beach access as advertised, a very big deal. I wouldn't rent it or from this host again.

Our group of 4 thoroughly enjoyed this house set above the beach. We had plenty of options for bedrooms and bathrooms. The kitchen was well-equipped. We just needed to buy some loaf pans from the local thrift store as one of our members makes a great bread. The views were awesome. We did morning walks along the highway to Governor Patterson Memorial State Park to access the beach. We did day trips to Newport, Perpetua Bay, Haceta Lighthouse, and Florence.

Great location and a very unique place. I love the older homey style and feel of the place I would stay again :) That being said it’s very chopped up with two small living rooms downstairs and two little kitchens and two separate up stairs. It’s set up to rent two very small rentals so kinda strange but cool and if going with two couples would be great for a little separation :)
