Stayed Jan 6, 2026My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Number Forty Two. The architecturally designed house is terrific - rammed earth walls, timber ceilings and beams, sculptured metal supports. The kitchen is well equipped with lots of crockery and utensils. The air conditioning was greatly appreciated due to the very hot weather that Beechworth experienced during our stay. The bush setting is also lovely with views from just about every window in the house.A few suggestions : There is no free to air TV available in the Beechworth area at present due to the broadcasting equipment on Mt Alexander being damaged by the bushfires. Apparently, it might take several months for repairs to be made. As a result, communication during bush fire or storm events is compromised. Guests at the house can access various internet streaming services on apps. However, this requires a computer, iPad or similar. In the absence of those devices, perhaps a radio should be provided as a key item in the house. The doona on the Queen bed in the main bedroom is good. However, in the hot weather it is too much and a light cotton blanket would be greatly appreciated.Considerable thought and effort has gone into the bush garden around the house. However, over time there has been a lot of leaves dropped. As part of the driveway is quite steep, the leaves can be slippery. It would be good if they could be raked and removed.

Stayed Nov 1, 2025We loved our stay at Number Forty Two. The garden was beautiful with lots of native birds. We loved sitting out on the deck when the weather was sunny and looking out the floor to ceiling windows when it was raining - it was so serene. Our dog loved exploring the garden. The house was so close to the town, which we walked into all the time (2 min walk). There were also a lot of cafes, wine bars and restaurants/brewery to eat outside so we could take our dog with us everywhere we went.

Stayed Oct 19, 2025Fantastic property, located in ideal spot for walking to town, going on walks and within a very short drive of what we wanted to do. The property was very clean and had everything required if you wanted to stay in. The rear yard and the decking areas made it feel like you were isolated.

Stayed Aug 18, 2025This property was ideal for our needs. It was well presented, with everything we needed for a comfortable winter break. Great heating, a warm comfortable bed and a well equipped kitchen. We had our dog traveling with us who loved the large enclosed garden. The location of this lovely home is brilliant and meant we could walk to do many places we wanted to see. We recommend Number42 when staying in Beechworth.
