North Berkeley Victorian -- Heart of Gourmet Ghetto - 5 blocks to U.C./ Downtown

This is a converted garage with garage window. There is a small window that lets in a bit of light, but there was a lady looking in at me so I had to close the blind. There was no place where you could sit and use a laptop or place even a single plate and eat. All surfaces were cluttered. I counted more than 60 wine glasses in the room. The driveway you see is 95% of the time occupied by an electric vehicle, which is often charging. You have to navigate with your suitcase in the greed area in the picture. The room was pretty clean, but there were some long black hairs on the towel. (I have gray hair.)

This is a great cozy place near downtown Berkeley. There are plenty of shops and cafés nearby and it’s a close walk to campus.

Warm and cozy studio, perfect for a few days in Berkeley.

This is my second review. While everything I said in my first review is true -- cute apartment, great location -- the communication this trip was terrible. I never got any response to my request for early check in nor did I get a response to my pleas for a code to get in the apartment. I had to call less than 2 hours before check in. Moreover, the owner's spouse opened the door to the apartment Saturday afternoon when I was napping. It was apparently an accident and she muttered an apology but the owner was incredibly defensive when I messaged about my shock and dismay about the violation of my privacy. I will not be returning, despite the fact that I have plans to do so in May and the fact that they very generously had given me a bottle of wine for booking a second time through VRBO.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The room was very comfortable and attractive. The back yard is glorious. And the hosts are interesting and welcoming. I'd love to return next visit to Berkeley.

We were at a conference in Berkeley and this VRBO place was a great spot. We were able to park for the duration and walk to downtown and the campus. There is also a great breakfast joint around the corner. The room was clean and charming with a kitchenette, a toilet in its own room and a bathroom. We plan to stay here again on our next trip to Berkeley.

The apartment has everything you need. It’s very comfortable and beautifully decorated. And the location can’t be beat — close to Berkeley and great restaurants. I will definitely be back!
