Stayed Jul 27, 2023This little cottage was full of charm and neat and clean! The hosts provided excellent communication and directions for where we could find what we needed. They provided lots of unexpected extras that made the stay feel like home. Everything we needed was provided by the hosts...laundry detergent, softener sheets, stain spray (Shout!), zip lock baggies for snacks on the trail and more! We especially enjoyed the variety of local maps and books about local attractions and history. We hiked to 29 waterfalls over the weekend and the literature was helpful and informational. We truly enjoyed our stay and will recommend this property to others who wish to visit the western North Carolina mountains.

Stayed Oct 10, 2025House was very nice, loved the authenticity of property. I would say they definitely need to do something with the driveway-dangerous the way it is now.

Stayed Jul 2, 2025Definately better than staying at a hotel! And my dog loved it! Great house w large yard all well maintained and equipped w everything! It was more than I hoped for - I don't know if all places and hosts are as nice but this Vrbo experience was great - quiet, clean, full kitchen w appliances, was able to wash clothes in washer and drier! Only 1 bathroom but a nice one (plenty for me and I only used 1 of 3 bedrooms). Had great AC to cool down in hot weather after doing nearby hikes. Great upper deck and covered patio to chill out. Convenient location - Family was staying elsewhere only 12 minutes away. And did I say how much my dog loved it??

Stayed Aug 30, 2024Amazing! Even though my hosts were on vacation themselves they stayed in regular contact. These folks become friends on our first visit last fall and I can't say enough good things about the house and about their hospitality. Lovely visit

Stayed Jul 27, 2024We thorughly enjoyed our stay at this cozy, historic mountain hideaway. We were 15 minutes away from Cold Mountain Trailhead at Panthertown, 15 minutes away from Tannassee Lake, and a only 22 minutes away from our Wolf Lake. We will be back in October. We can't wait to be back.

Stayed May 19, 2024Loved this 1880s home, which is the oldest home still standing in Lake Toxaway. Intriguing family photos, letters, and memorabilia throughout the home will leave you mesmerized. There are history books to read, which will give you an amazing perspective into life and business at the turn of the 19th century. I enjoyed learning how and why Lake Toxaway was established, and was astounded when I read about the 3 hurricanes that came through in the summer of 1916. After so much rainfall in a short period of time, the dam collapsed and sent a 30 foot wall of water, and 5 billion gallons of water down the mountain. You must come experience this amazing, relaxing environment and see some of the 28 waterfalls that I have counted so far. This is truly God's Country. You will know when you see it.
