Stayed Jun 19, 2024I have stayed in numerous VRBOs and have never authored a negative review. The old and rundown house is in an average to below-average neighborhood a few houses off a busy street. The houses are close together. The unit is on the upper level of a two-story duplex and, to get there, one has to traverse stairs that do not have a stair rail. No central air. Once inside, there was a large air conditioner between the dining and living rooms that leaked into a plastic pail which had to be emptied every 6 hours or it would overflow on the wood floor. In the kitchen, the area near the stove reeked of gas and the burners did not light. I called the owner and he said to open the windows. He also said to use a portable lighter to light the burners, which I felt was ill-advised given the gas smell. The small bathroom was nice but there were no rails or safety strips in the bathtub, so it was very slippery. On our last day, the electricity in the 2 bedrooms and kitchen went out (no AC). I contacted the owner (who lives in Canada) and he directed me to the dusty and dirty basement where I attempted to reset the correct fuse on an unmarked fuse box. I was initially unsuccessful but, 3 hours later, found the right fuse. So, if you want to spend your vacation emptying a pail of water residue every 6 hours, dealing with a gas smell near the stove, and messing with a fuse box in a dirty musty basement, this is the place for you.
