We could not have been more pleased with our stay. When we arrived, we found local wine, fresh muffins and eggs from the resident hens waiting for us. All was delicious. The large kitchen and dining table worked great for our family gathering. The bedrooms are large and very comfortable. Paul is a great host and made sure we had everything we needed including arranging for a table at the Bluegrass Festival in town the weekend we stayed. The house is comfortable and well equipped including everything needed for an infant or young child. The Stoneybrook Farm Market, a short walk away, is a must for a farm-fresh breakfast. Hope that we get to stay here again soon.
We spent two nights at this property and loved it! The owners are incredibly attentive to details and seek to ensure a wonderful stay. The historic home is beautifully renovated and has everything we needed. The location was within minutes many wineries we wanted to visit and had a nice back garden and seating to enjoy. We would definitely return - it’s a gem!
Paul and James thought I’d everything! Every time we stay, every detail is perfect, from the well stocked toiletries to the rose in the fridge! Can’t wait to come back soon!
Overall, this property was just perfect for a weekend getaway! The house was adorable and while there were rooms that we never used, the rooms we did use were very comfy and relaxing. The location of the house relative to many vineyards within a 10 minute radius was incredible, with a majority of the vineyards being wonderful. We would definitely come back to this property again and plan to do so next year!
This was our second stay at Farwell Cottage and we enjoyed it even more than the first! Such a quaint and beautiful historic property. The house was well stocked with everything we needed and the hosts are incredibly friendly. We would recommend this property during any season.
Our small group was so lucky to stay in this beautifully appointed, historic home while visiting Loudoun County and the Waterford Fair! We were welcomed with a lovely note from our hosts, along with a bottle of local wine, fresh eggs from their chickens and amazing scones. Our hosts were very accommodating and helpful and communications were stellar! The house is very clean - spotless in fact, and included all the amenities you need, including a very reliable, high-speed wifi, and small touches like eyemasks and ear plugs for light sleepers!. There is an array of information and travel brochures for guests to learn about the area in general, local events, restaurant and winery recommendations, and things to do, which was very helpful during our stay. We were also able to purchase a few groceries in a neighborhood store you can walk to right down the street, which was very convenient. I cannot think of a better place to stay and plan to return in the future!
We had an amazing girls weekend at Farwell Cottage. Paul and James thought of everything. From complimentary eggs and wine, to sound machines and eye masks/ear plugs, to a picnic setup and advice on things to do in the area, this is one of the most delightful VRBO properties that I have ever visited. Super close to vineyards and convenient to DMV locals. We will definitely be back!
Overall excellent. Prefer not having to log in vrbo each time though. Host even helped with local reservations and ideas. May want to check master faucet flow...beds were comfy...loved the wine and cupcakes...and fresh eggs...coffee !! Needed ice, but we did work around. We enjoyed the area much too. Thanks
This property was absolutely perfect! The owner was accessible, accommodating and very responsive. The property was beautifully appointed, immaculately clean and a most comfortable place to stay! No detail was unattended to, from then fresh eggs to the bottle of local wine there to welcome me. I cannot recommend enough staying in this gem of a historic home located right in the heart of Hillsboro.
This property is truly amazing! We stayed for a long weekend and I am thrilled we got to stay here. The owners thought of everything. The bedrooms are gorgeous with beds to lull you to rest. The inside of the house is immaculate with a cute little sunroom in the back of the house. The backyard is so well thought of on how sitting areas are arranged. I loved being inside and outside. My family even enjoyed eggs from the First Ladies (chickens) in the backyard. What fun to even feed the ladies. The best part for me was the lovely porch full of rocking chairs for me to enjoy the town in front of me. Thank you to the owners!
we had an incredible time. The host thought of everything. The beds were super comfortable and we loved the fire pit and eggs. From the moment we checked in you could tell the host is experienced and had all the extra nice touches. The upstairs was a little warm when we checked in, I asked for it to be cooler and the host took care of it right away. Was a very relaxing stay. Can’t wait to go back again and visit some more of the local vineyards and stay in this historic town and home.
