Captain Cook, Hawaii
Make this home your base camp for all of your Big Island adventures. This unique round house with spectacular ocean views is located one hour from Hawaii Volcano National Park and one hour to Kona, a midpoint location for your sightseeing delights. Hike from here to Honomalino beach, a super secluded black sand beach or walk down the street to some of the best snorkeling on the island. Simply relax around your own private pool viewing the countless whales and dolphins passing by in late November- April. The house has 2 bedrooms; one is a large loft with a queen bed, the master has a king bed and in the living room, a very comfortable queen sofa sleeper.
The bathroom is beautiful and boasts a, private, tropically decorated outdoor shower that we affectionately call the " Relaxation Grotto".
Beach chairs, coolers, boogie boards, shade canopy and beach umbrella are available for your use when traveling around the island. The house includes a washer and drier.
The kitchen is well equipped for all of your cooking needs as well as a nice BBQ on the deck for pool side feasts you can create. There is Wifi and Direct TV and 4 TVS . Our tax ID # is W-93553988-01
We loved the fact that this beautiful home was off the beaten path - so it is not for everyone - but if you are seeking a quiet, private get away with stunning ocean views, whale watching from the deck and your own private pool, this place can't be beat. The house was clean, comfortable and fully equipped with everything we needed to make our stay easy and relaxing.
This house has amazing views and was very clean. The neighborhood was quiet. I think we underestimated the drive from the highway to the property; it was pretty steep and winding and took us about 15 minutes to get down to the house and maybe 10 minutes to get back out. We got used to it though. We really enjoyed our stay!
We liked the remote location (make sure you stop and get food and supplies before you get there). Great, friendly neighborhood for walk. Great views from the pool.
For this visit, we wanted to stay more to the south so we could explore that area and Volcanoes (1.5 hr.). Kona is about an hours drive north. No restaurants or groceries close by but well-stocked kitchen and bath. Just purchase groceries before arriving. Great to have a W/D. Outdoor shower was good and private. Bed has topper that was a bit too soft for our liking. Warm in the evenings if no trade-winds but lots of fans to somewhat help out. Mid-80's when we visited in early October. Would suggest a second key with one left in the lockbox in case the primary key is misplaced. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the Round House although a bit disappointed that the view to the ocean included a hodgepodge of so many houses. Did enjoy the sunsets though...
This is an amazing place to stay. Quiet location for those who do not want to be in the thick of it. All the amenities that one could need. Nicely located to explore Hawaii. The owners were kind and helpful.
The property is lovely with stunning views. The owners have amazing attention to detail. Love the spa shower and the screened outdoor oasis. So grateful for all of the items the owners provide such as bottled water dispensers, spices, multiple coffee makers, laundry and dish soap... too much to mention! Highly recommend this home.
The home is everything we expected… away from traffic and tourists! Perfect for a couple! Sunsets were awesome! The home was very clean, and beds very comfortable. 30 miles south of Kona. So expect an hour drive to town. Great location to drive north or south when visiting the entire island. Our 10 day stay was just right!
Wonderful place to stay, quite with a great view of the ocean.
Nice, remote, very quiet, 180 degree view of the ocean. The house was unique ad fun. Roughly halfway between Kona and Volcanoes National Park
The house is out further from town which was exactly what we wanted! The neighborhood was quiet and had a beautiful view of the ocean and the hills. The pool was perfect! It has a good bit of shade to get of the sun and the heat. Would love to stay here again!!! Be prepared for mosquitos. We got ate up the first day. Went and got bug spray and we were good the rest of the trip.
As advertised: well kept up, easy to contact owner for one minor problem (power-on glitch, I think), amazing interior decorating...see to believe, automatic outdoor lighting surprised us when it came on, considerable outside seating, separate screened outside seating area w/hammock, all appliances worked, some spices, etc. supplied. Light pool upkeep requested...no problem, interesting view...guess you'd say we enjoyed ourselves.! Info to owners: Road to house was repaved and slightly widened while we were there. Road machinery operators were easy to deal with.
Loved the pool and everything else!
The only hiccup was not getting information from Craig regarding key access and didn't have any reception to contact upon arrival. But we are still in paradise and eventually it all worked out. We couldn't have asked for a better accommodation. The house and property are beautiful and welcoming. The perfect place to unwind after exploring the island and watching sunsets.
Anticipate the long way down on a windy (paved) road passing farms and overlooking the ocean. Would recommend arriving with daylight. Very close to Miloli'i Beach park which is a small pristine patch of sand + volcano rock beach. Stock up on food before going, there aren't many nearby spots (closest food ~30 minutes any direction). Very nice house with fully stocked kitchen, many fans and seating areas. Awesome pool + grill and outdoor lenai. Mesmerizing sunsets every night, watch the sun sink into the Pacific. House is located on old lava flow and can see this clearly in the surrounding areas. Mosquitos come out at sundown, and there is no AC if you're wondering. House somewhat isolated but is nicely situated between Kona and Volcanos. Me and my girlfriend had an amazing time exploring the Island from this location. Top reco would be Miloli'i beach park but be respectful! Other highlights include beautiful ocean views from pool/house, Coffee man at beginning of road, Geckos everywhere, isolated feel, awesome kitchen
This is a great spot, with lots of little tucked away spots. There is a lanai, a pool, several little table/chair spots, and an upstairs loft. This was a perfect spot with kids, as the pool makes for an easy distraction and a nice cool-off for everyone. Gorgeous ocean view. The things to consider are that there are not a lot of resources nearby. It's 20 minutes or so to the main road, and another 15-20 to the closest stores. The terrain around this neighborhood is a lava flow, so the main attraction of the view is the very wide view of the ocean. It's a pretty amazing ocean view, and we had really gorgeous sunsets. It was a really nice kitchen to cook in, and we really enjoyed ourselves.
