Ithaca, New York
Thank you for looking at our historic carriage house in the middle of the quiet Fall Creek neighborhood in downtown Ithaca.
During the academic year our apartments are filled mostly with hard-working Cornell doctoral students, but during the summer we provide hospitality for neat and respectful short-term travelers visiting Ithaca or the surrounding areas.
Our two carriage house apartments have fresh bedding and towels, sterilized between visitors in our heavy-duty enormous washing machine and dryer, which are also available for use during your stay. We have new pots and pans and dishes, and of course a coffee maker. Our on-site manager lives in the first floor of the main house on the property, and makes sure your stay is pleasant.
This year we have new induction stove tops, a great new way to cook! We are using real stainless steel now, not non-stick pans. No more flaking pans!
Apartment A (this listing) has 4 bedrooms, with 2 queen beds and 2 full beds. We have ceiling fans in nearly every room, and multiple window air conditioner units are installed for hot days. We do not have central AC, so some areas of the apartment may be warmer than others on the hottest days.
There is a full bath and a half bath, and a family room that separates the upstairs bedrooms.
Apartment A was designed to be my own home when I lived at 811 N. Tioga St. I like wood, and we created all kinds of unusual wood features in this warm and homey abode. The kitchen-living-dining room is 40 feet long, with wood flooring, wood-covered walls, and wood shelves and beams. The upstairs has wide plank pine from around 100 years ago, recently refinished.
A giant commercial restaurant sink with built-in stainless steel counter space make cooking easy while you visit. We try to provide everything you need, including decent, recent pots and pans! Of course there is a dishwasher to wash the dishes we provide.
We hope you will choose us, and after you leave we welcome your honest review of our property and performance to help future travelers.
Clean, comfortable and within walking distance of commons. Enjoyed coffee and breakfast that was provided. Nice quiet neighborhood.
Nice property, larger than we expected, huge common area, very well stuffed with base food and souses.
Perfect
The unit was clean and well stocked. It had everything you need from kitchen wear to toilet paper. They even stocked the fridge with eggs, milk, and half and half from a local farm. Couldn't have asked for a better vacation spot. Plan to return next year.
The 5 of us had plenty of room. The caretaker, Thomas, had stocked the fridge with milk, eggs, and cream for coffee. Fresh coffee beans and a grinder were a lovely touch . Beds were comfortable, and we had plenty of nice towels. Location is perfect: quiet neighborhood and easy walk to Ithaca Commons with its restaurants and shops.
Great location, quiet neighborhood, spacious room in the carriage house, well furnished.
The laundry place Is terrible. We had an eléctrical problem. The unique Bathroom went out of light. Everything was ok but not what we expected. The location for our events was perfect. We round milk eggs Walter that was nice
We were in Ithaca for the weekend and wanted to stay close to campus. This rental was perfect! The neighborhood is quiet and easy to negotiate. We walked to a nearby gorge for a morning of beautiful hiking. Tom, the property manager, contacted us to arrange a flexible check-in that allowed us to get our oldest settled in the dorm. The rental is spacious and very clean. We had everything we needed from the kitchen to the bathrooms and sleeping was great. Each room has a window fan or air conditioner. We had a wonderful time in Ithaca and will definitely recommend/re-visit this rental for future returns!
We very much enjoyed our stay! It was a lovely home to rest and unwind after activity filled days touring the area, boating, hiking, and visiting Cornell. Plenty of space to relax and connect with family in the main living areas, with clean and quiet bedrooms upstairs. It was a bit of a steep walk up to campus (as is everywhere), but the scenery of the waterfalls and the gorge made it worth the uphill hike. Perfect kitchen for family meals. Great communication with Steve and Thomas. We definitely recommend if you want a clean, quiet and comfortable space for family while visiting the area.
We had a group of friends stay here for our reunion weekend. There was plenty of space for everyone, we never ran out of hot water for showers, and we slept well in comfortable beds. The location was fantastic. Easy to walk to the farmer's market, the Commons, and a nice uphill jaunt to Cornell's campus through the gorge trail. It was perfect!
