Middletown, Pennsylvania
The property is a cozy two-bedroom house on an acre of land located centrally near Harrisburg, 2 minutes off Interstate 283. There are plenty of parking spaces and no fighting downtown traffic and parking in Harrisburg. It is easily accessible from the Pennsylvania Turnpike (6.7 miles) and Route 283 (0.6 miles), and Harrisburg International Airport (4.8 miles) and PA Farm Show complex (15 miles).
Get to places quickly like downtown Harrisburg and the Capital, Hershey Medical Center, Hershey and Hershey Park, The Vineyards at Hershey, The Star Barn Village, and Lancaster Amish country and kayaking on the Susquehanna River.
It has two bedrooms upstairs, that will sleep six, a reading nook, plus an eat-in Kitchen and Living Room downstairs and a covered front porch and covered rear deck with a picnic table, gas grille, and additional seating. Bedroom 1 has a daybed with a trundle unit and a reading nook. You WALK THRU bedroom 1 to get to the master. If you need the trundle unit, just inform us and we'll place it in the reading nook. Bedroom 2 has a new queen size bed and a full-size bed sleeping four. Probably not your best bet for TWO couples wanting space for a romantic getaway. The house is a small cottage, 835 sq. feet, so a family of six would be a cozy fit with a lot of togetherness. This is an OLD house, so it is creaky and cozy with quirks and wants you to feel at home. The bathroom has a slanted, lower ceiling, so this property is not for anyone OVER SIX FEET.
The water is well water, it's okay to taste, but we have bottled water available. Please review all pictures and descriptions so you know what to expect. If you don't review the descriptions thoroughly, you won't get a refund for accommodations that don't meet your expectations. Please review all pictures and descriptions so you know what to expect.
The house has a huge front porch with comfortable wicker and cushion seating, and privacy curtains at one end. The covered rear deck includes a picnic table for alfresco dining and gas grille.
The eat-in kitchen has seating for four around a kitchen peninsula, and a small dining table for two. I fully equipped the kitchen with supplies for a satisfying meal after a long day or a delicious breakfast to start your adventure. It has a farmhouse style sink with a touchless faucet. The house is on well water, so there is bottled water stocked in the refrigerator for drinking. Due to previous issues with the water, we now have a new how hot water heater and filter as of early January 2020 and have passed all water inspections. It still is an old house, so it's like home, not a hotel.
Included is wireless internet and a Roku television in the master and Roku television the living room that has cable.
The location is ideal for all seasons. There are many antique stores, wineries, golf courses, all the attractions of Hershey and Lancaster. There is sales tax free shopping at Outlets in Hershey, Lancaster and Gettysburg. Hershey alone has a week's worth of activities to do with Hershey Park with it amusement park including a water park, Hershey's Chocolate World, Hershey Park's Zoo America, and The Hershey Story, an interactive family attraction. If you wanted to have a home base for the East Coast, you're one hour and a half hours from Baltimore, two hours from Washington D.C., and three hours from New York City. We can assist you with any of those details or give you great ideas for other tourist sites and excellent dining places.
The house has character and the decoration made the house very cozy and home like. After a long day exploring DC we came home to comfortable couch and bed. Easy to cook or walk to the Riverside Cafe for a meal. Easy and quick access to the freeways and certainly a lot of places to explore nearby.
We had a great stay! The house was great and the host was super nice and helped us with things in the area. Me and my parents loved the location it was easy to get to Hershey and Indian Dell Echo Caverns. Also a grocery store under 2 miles away.this place has everything you need to cook and save some cash when you are traveling.we used the grill and enjoyed dinner on the back porch. we found ourselves just sitting out back after dinner chatting away. After we left my dad left something behind that he needed to get back and they got that shipped right back to us super fast. I wouldn't hesitate to rent from them if i go back to the area. This was the first VRBO my parents have stayed in and they absolutely loved it. Thanks for helping me make (something my parents have talked about for over 30 years) become a memory we wont forget:)
The home was not cleaned (bathroom and kitchen) and not vacuumed. The home was very cold upon arrival and there was a bit of trouble getting heating units operating. Owner was relatively responsive. He brought some space heaters. He is living in the garage on the property which was not explained in advance. Cute home and location.
We love this beautiful little rustic home! Dave, the owner, is so friendly & personable, easy to talk to. The home is very clean, very welcoming & located in a great area with the Lancaster/ intercourse area about 35 minutes away & Hershey about 20 minutes away. There are plenty of beds available & they are super comfy! We loved sitting on the cute front porch at night. The home is off a semi-main road, but we saw mostly farm equipment passing by. We will definitely go back!
Enjoyed the back deck and front porch. The location was good for us as it was convenient to many places.
Great option if traveling to Hershey Park with family. Property is approximately 20 minutes from the park and nice to avoid the high prices of the park. The space is comfortable for our family of 5. Nice to have a clean kitchen with space to stretch out after a long day. We highly recommend the property.
Even before we arrived, we had great communication with the hosts! The home was great for what we needed and we felt welcome with nice treats and comforts of home. The home is older, meaning, be ready for the quirks- made it more quaint and enjoyable. We would stay again!
Was a great place to stay and relax. Very nice outside spaces and close to Hershey Park.
We rented this cape cod in lieu of going to a hotel. We were here to go to Hershey park and to participate in a softball tournament. The cozy house gave us a comfortable place to sleep, eat, and regenerate. Since it was only the 3 of us, this house met and surpassed our needs. We would consider renting this house again if we play in the tournament next year.
This was a nice space to stay for a short stint while visiting family near Hershey. The property was well maintained and the owners provided nice touches like coffee, tea, first aid kit, games, ample supplies of towels and other staples. Also had cool things like a beautiful grill and picnic table (which we didn't get to use but a nice bonus!) Great, affordable place to stay if you are hanging out in Hershey or nearby
We stayed two nights and the house was great and a bar/restaurant within walking distance that we ate at 2 evenings!
We booked this at the last minute for our son’s college graduation after having to change from our original accommodations. The cottage is cute and the hosts were responsive to our needs. I will caution that sulphuric odor of the well water is very strong and there were some things with the property that were typical of country living in an old home. Having grown up in that type of environment, i understood and helped my husband understand. Overall, we would have chosen to stay at a hotel instead. That’s just us.
Absolutely loved staying here - the owners even let us check in early which was so wonderful of them. The weather was pretty awful so we spent a majority of the time in the house and it was great! Beds were super comfortable and it was nice and quiet!! Would definitely stay here again!
Second time here. Nice cozy house for a small family. Just 20 minutes to Hershey Patk!
The home is very clean and comfortable. The owner’s have coffee and water for the guests. There is quite a bit of noise from the traffic, as the home sits very close to the street, and the business that’s across the street has people coming to work at 5:30am and they were playing their music loud enough for it to wake us. The bathroom is small and the shower is a tight fit for someone bigger than 5’6. The beds were comfortable and the bedrooms were spotless as well as the rest of the home.
We loved staying here! A beautifil home and Tami stocked lots of goodies which was a wonderful surprise, especially for my sons! I also loved that they had menus and restaurant recommendations as we tried each one and loved them. The beds were very comfortable and it was a very relaxing home to come back to after long days at Hershey Park.
We had a great time over the weekend. The house had everything we needed.
Nice property. Owner was very responsive throughout the process
Few hours into our arrival and stay we had no running water. After calling the owner and not being able to get in touch, my husband went to the neighbors house to ask for a bucket of water to flush the toilet. The neighbor came over to help with a well electric issue, the temporary fix didn’t work and we woke up to no water in the morning. We didn’t flush the toilet all might. We needed to go to the grocery store to go to the bathroom, 8 min away. The owner did get back to us but proceeded to not take any ownership of the problem. The neighbor said we weren’t the first person to need help. The owner then proceeded to hang up on my husband. We needed to find a hotel for the last night. Overall kind of a very stressful situation. The house is cute, with all the amenities it states it has, minus running water, great location if you want to go to Hershey Park and area but before you rent be sure they have fixed the well pump issue and they have running water.
This property was a great place to stay very nice and clean, very close to everything, i loved the front porch it is just a very comfy place to stay. I would stay there again!!
The property was clean, comfortable, and roomy yet cozy. The hosts communicated with us quickly and clearly. It was a great experience! Would definitely stay again and recommend to others!
Nice; well stocked with waters, towels, soaps, etc. ; convenient to Middletown and Harrisburg; quiet area; inconvenient to get entry code after arrival (my past rentals always provided it 1-2 days ahead. )Had to call upon arrival and wait for call back. Worked well for our stay.
