Stayed Aug 6, 2024What a great experience, we traveled through Maine and this was our favorite stop. Kent is kind and fabulous. Beds were great, the remote living was a dream. We chose to canoe in and that was the right call! Our stuff arrived on a boat. We saw lots of birds turtles and a bald eagle! It was awesome.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969This tiny island is the perfect place to take a break from the real world, disconnect, and connect with nature. Everything is exactly as advertised: the amenities, canoes, kayaks, shower. Kent was so helpful and brought fresh ice packs for our coolers, battery packs to charge our devices.. he’s a great host. The water around the island is shallow, our dogs loved walking around splashing in it. The ferry ride is easy and they have wheelbarrows to help load your stuff from the car to the ferry. We had the best time. I suggest bringing a lot of reading material so you can hang out on the hammock (one outside, one inside). There is a grill, a fire pit, rocking chairs. If you want to shower, you can pump the water for a few minutes and then clean up. We were so pleased with our stay that we will definitely be back! Thank you, Kent!

Stayed Dec 31, 1969My family stayed on the little island for four nights and had an absolutely perfect vacation. This is our 2nd trip to the islands and it was just as good as the first trip last summer. We kayaked, canoed over the big island, played games, explored the island, cooked amazing meals, learned new card games, wrote in our journals, swam and most importantly fished (my older son caught 200 fish!!). This is now going to be a yearly family tradition that we hope to share with our friends in coming years. Kent was an amazing host and helped out with any questions or needs we had. We can't wait to go back !

Stayed Jun 16, 2023We just returned from a long weekend at little cabin island. Enjoyed the entire experience. Mother Nature gave us a lot of rain but it was still a wonderful way to get away and be unplugged. As much as the humans enjoyed themselves - the DOG had her absolute BEST life ever! She LOVED being off leash - swimming, sniffing in and around animal holes, watching the loons, finding random tennis balls and crashing out in front of the wood stove. Kent is really great to deal with. Booking the place and “before you arrive” information is helpful, well spelled out and humorously written so don’t forget to read it. He is a wealth of knowledge as well as helpful and if you need anything he is just a text and a boat ride away. Gas grill outside/double burner propane cooking inside was convenient. If you follow the compost toilet directions it is not bad at all. Bring stuff to do in case it rains - books, games (some are available at the cabin but bring your favorites if you have certain ones), word games, etc. The dock is great! Sit out there and meditate, have coffee, fish, swim, eat s’mores or whatever else you like to do sitting there enjoying the lovely lake. Thanks Kent! We really enjoyed our stay!

Stayed Sep 15, 2017What a wonderful, unique experience we had...peaceful, quite, serene and cozy. A true retreat that offers the best of nature, fresh water, fresh air, warmth of fire and beauty of the earth...in a simple, off the grid abode! Basic amenities provided, with an emphasis on sustainable practices of composting toilet, solar power lighting, propane fueled cooking and wood stove all nestled on a private island equipped with canoe, kayak, fishing poles & life jackets. Hammocks strategically in placed to see the spectacular views or take a nap..

Stayed Jul 7, 2017Little cabin island is a wonderful place to disconnect, unwind, and enjoy being close to nature. The cabin contains all you need for island life, and its simplicity and sustainability is refreshing and much appreciated. You can swim, paddle, explore, and kick back to watch the clouds drift by with the loons and bald eagles. Our dog was equally happy with our visit, and we had an incredible getaway. Jo and Kent were excellent hosts and we look forward to returning to the island in the future!

Stayed Dec 31, 1969Kent and Jo made us feel welcome and took care of us before we even arrived. We got caught in traffic and were late and Kent had a backup plan in case it got too dark all planned out for us. He reminded us we were on vacation and made us feel like we shouldn't worry about a thing. He gave us a history of the lake and a tour of One Big Sustainable Island. You can tell that they are extremely passionate about what they do. Jo was always quick to answer any questions I had since the time of our reservation and was always thorough and very friendly. Onto Little Cabin Island! The cabin itself is very well kept, clean and cozy. It has many nice and unique touches and is equipped with everything we needed for the weekend. There was a relaxing hammock thoughtfully hung over the edge of the lake where we spent some time reading. The bird watching was great and the fishing was the best around. We were able to let our dogs off the leash and not worry about having them run off somewhere and they really enjoyed it too! Our first night was so clear, when we looked up we saw the most beautiful night sky. It was amazing. Overall we had a very relaxing weekend in the perfect island getaway. Thanks Kent and Jo!! We will be back!

Stayed Feb 24, 2016It's a neat, clean, cute, little cabin on a tiny little island in the middle of what seemed like our own private lake! It was just what were were looking for and better than we imagined from the pictures. All we had to bring was a cooler full of food and our clothes. Jo and Kent thought of everything else and were the best hosts. Glen and I had the most romantic winter getaway. We did skiing, sledding, snow shoeing, and tooled around on our snowmobiles. Glen is a big ice fisherman and there was plenty of that. It was so nice that the wood stove was roaring away as we walked through the front door. The house is rustic, natural, and wonderful. It has a retro kitchen that is fully equipped, a very comfortable queen size bed in the sleeping loft. The sunrises and sunsets are magnificent. We had 360 degrees of lake view. Glen and I are looking forward to when the leaves are out and we can come back by boat! See you soon, Jo and Kent! Jan
