A warmly appointed hotel, The Narrow Gauge Inn is a comfortable home away from home and an excellent base for all your Yosemite adventures. Indulge your appetite in our restaurant which offers seasonal fine dining in a lodge atmosphere highlighted by stone fireplaces, antique oil lamps and works of stained glass.Immerse yourself in nature as you explore our beautiful grounds.
Be sure to keep your eyes open for wildlife as raccoons, bears, squirrels and numerous birds all call this area home.
Very quaint little inn super close to Yosemite. Unfortunately the pictures shown on VRBO were not of the room we got. Our room was dated with old dirty carpet. Definitely ask for the updated rooms!
Staff were nice and friendly but buildings and facilities were old. The pictures on the Verbo has been taken from the best suit of the Inn. Our room was not as clean and bright as shown in the pictures. We stayed one night in The pine resort (bass lake) and the next night here. The Pine resort suit was cleaner. It had more privacy, a balcony with barbecue and many choices of restaurants around. it was even cheaper and just 20 minutes far from here.
Perfect location, close to the park entrance. The rooms are outdated, but clean and cozy. Overall we are happy with our choice.
We were quite pleased with our stay. It is low hanging fruit for the high sierras to be a beautiful environment, and they met that; but more importantly the staff was quite helpful/accommodating to help out with some scheduling issues on our behalf. I would highly recommend them and would gladly use them again in the future.
Pleasant property and close to Yosemite entrance! Loved the little balcony and the ability to sleep with the windows open and enjoy the fresh air!
My wife and I stayed 2 nights and absolutely loved the Inn! It’s beautiful, is oozing with character, and the staff are extremely friendly. The room had everything we needed. The Inn is extremely close to the Yosemite South entrance and very convenient. We hope to come back and visit again!
stayed here for one night to attend wedding at Wawona Hotel which was booked. Nice room, great service from staff. Would stay again.
We enjoyed our stay at Narrow Gauge Inn. Comfortable rooms, friendly staff, easy hour+ drive to Yosemite village. We were sorry that their restaurant wasn’t open the nights we were there but had a nice dinner at the resort a mile up the road. After checking out we took the ride on the narrow gauge railroad just next door. Splendid experience start to finish.
This place has great potential but it needs re-investment and maintenance. Used queen sheets on king bed. TV had to be unplugged/plugged to reboot it each time used. Doorknob/lock about to fall off; just needed tightening. Burned out blub over sink. BR sink was very old and hard to bend that low! Mixing valve on shower allowed water temp to randomly vary. Restaurant was outstanding as was its staff.
A quite pleasant first arrival impression. On closer look some imperfections almost overwhelmed us. The manager was very nice, but still motel has some flaws due to simple ageing. The minimal remodeling from some time ago has amateur fit and finish to bathrooms. Room coffee pots are cheap and old. One packet of coffee for two days booking. Room service you must request if you stay a few nights. TV was tuned with two remotes doing different things. Ceiling fan you need to stand on bed to work. Heater is an old wall gas furnice we thought with a thermostat on wall.....but it is deactivated in place. we found wall heat/air hotel unit after some time. That worked. Internet works a little due to being in mountains. Breakfast is a take out tray and DO NOT ORDER THAT it was not good. Lobby has Kureg coffee good. Lobby had NO other guest items such as toast and toaster, bagels, no juice, no cereal, no milk. You could buy a minimal selection of energy drinks or ice cream bars. Motel is only 4 miles from Yosemite but in reality it is 75 minutes to drive the long and winding road to get to Yosemite Valley. It felt lacking in general Motel ammenities. The beds were fine. The rooms are quite tiny due to being from the 50's. The decks and railings are old and unkept with peeling paint. Restaurant choices are quite minimal in this location. I suggest Oakhurst for a more reasonable overnight.
The shower door is broken. Overall the place needs a complete overhaul. Coffee pot in the room, no coffee and the tea is so old the bags splits. The coffee in the lobby has no lids plus it takes forever. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. It just felt shabby and comfortable.
