Mountain Magic is the perfect riverfront retreat for the whole family, or groups of friends. This gracious mountain home offers plenty of outdoor living – and when you escape to the mountains, isn't Nature what it's all about Located along a beautiful, wide stretch of the North Fork of the New River, this is your perfect spot for water adventure. Steps allow easy access to the river, where you can swim, play or fish. Enjoy gathering around the fire pit with the sound of the water as your music, play a game of volleyball, or have a picnic at the waterfront pavilion. If R&R is your goal, leave all that activity to the other folks, and chill on the swinging chairs, just a few feet from the river.
The home's open floor-plan allows you and your family and friends to hang out and socialize. The beautiful kitchen has stainless appliances, granite tops and a gas-range, plus a pantry for longer stays. You can eat at the island or just a few steps away in the dining room, with generous windows offering a view of the river, as well as doors to the deck. Many guests opt for outdoor dining on the covered porch, which also features a large hot tub you can enjoy even if it's raining. In the evening, sink into the living room's comfortable seating to enjoy a movie. The entertainment center has a TV and DVD player.
In the master bedroom you'll find a comfortable queen-sized bed, perfect for a good night's sleep after a long day on the river. The en suite master bath offers double vanities, a walk-in closet and a beautifully tiled walk-in shower.. This area affords you some privacy, since the second and third bedrooms are on the other side of the great room – still close enough if you have children you want to keep an eye on. One of those bedrooms has a queen bed, and the other a twin with a trundle and share a full size hall bathroom.
Location, Location, Location
Mountain Magic is located only 15 minutes north of the town of Jefferson, with an extra five minutes to West Jefferson's shopping, dining and entertainment district. There you'll find shops, galleries and restaurants to meet a variety of tastes. Stroll the main street to be treated to enjoyable conversations with our shopkeepers and dazzled by wares from antiques to boutiques, to cool stuff for the kitchen. Don't miss North Carolina's only cheese factory: Ashe County Cheese, where you can also indulge in delicious ice cream and fudge. Around the corner is the Honey Hole, where you can watch bees at work in a glass-fronted hive while shopping for honey-themed treats like handbags with bees on them, garden art and a wondrous variety of the locally-produced natural sweetener.
You'll also be in a great spot to explore several scenic routes into the heart of Ashe County, to enjoy our unspoiled farming and mountain valleys, natural creeks and great old farmhouses. If you pick up the “Barn Quilt Tour” brochure at the Ashe County Arts Council Gallery, you'll get a guided route around Ashe County. Check out Pie on the Mountain, a great pizza shop in Lansing, or head to Todd and have lunch or a treat at the Todd Mercantile. Rent bikes (and canoes and kayaks) from the River Girl along the level Railroad Grade Road.

Home and area was excellent and will rent again.
The only issue was the water. Property was easily accessible, great amenities.
What a beautiful scene! We loved it. Our niece and nephew visited while we were there! They also loved the property. We'd definitely use your services again. 10s across the board
Very spacious and extremely well appointed property. Comfortable and modern. It was immaculately clean ( please feed that back to the housekeeping staff). Excellent fire pit area close to the river. No complaints whatsoever but a couple ideas- It would be helpful to have a wagon or cart to carry wood and picnic items back and forth. Maybe some block stairs through the middle of the rip-rap. Looks like a trail is already made, so folks see that as an entry point. I believe it’s time for pressure wash and paint so it’s outside is reflective of such a beautiful place inside. Thanks for a wonderful albeit rainy week and we will see you again next year.
Had a great weekend with friends celebrating one of us having a 50th birthday. The rental is well equiped for cooking and having a good time for a group of 4 couples. The guys fished all day Saturday while the women had a good day shopping. We had a great time and plan to rent again in June. Thanks
Everything was good except for the water which is a major issue for us otherwise the state was good property manager help to get us into another cabin which we really loved
We spent the weekend doing a whole lotta nothing and this was the perfect place for it. Great space, beautiful setting, and all the comforts of home. We are already searching for a time to come back!
Lots of space, great yard for dogs.
Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was more than happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house and big back yard was very nice and clean. The hot tub looked clean, but after turning it on we started seeing black stuff in the hot tub and clinging to the sides and a very foul smell coming from it. I called and was told it would only be cleaned at our expense, so I said forget it and we didn't get back in. My son started feeling unwell the next day. He felt sick and developed a painful rash on his arms, chest, back and under his arms. We ended up leaving a day early to get him to his doctor which turned out he had a bacteria from the hot tub. So....had to leave early, missed a night we paid for and had doctor and medicine bills on top of it. House was very nice, but didn't feel we got the response we should have and feel I'm due a refund for 1 night.
This house is well equipped for 8-9 people who know each other well. We had four couples + my daughter (9 total) and everyone had a bed and a room. Take note of the pictures and descriptions as they are very accurate - there are just enough seating spaces (in the common area for 8-9 people), but it can be tight in the common area when everyone needs to be inside and together (e.g. meals or basketball watching). It was a chilly Easter for us, so we were inside a fair amount, and it was cozy for us. With that said, we had a lovely time, the hot tub is HUGE, and the house and location were conveniently located from West Jeff and Lansing, and this is a PERFECT house if you travel with dogs (we did) with easy access to the fenced in yard. They even had a great dog bed available in the home! Would definitely be willing to rent again
