Hartland, Wisconsin
This quaint two story three bedroom house is located on gorgeous and pristine Moose Lake, which is reputed to be the cleanest lake in South-Eastern Wisconsin; and is just 9.6 miles away from Erin Hills Golf Course. The house was built in the 1930s by a craftsman and his son, and is finely finished with knotty pine interior walls in the living room and the dinette areas.
An outstanding feature of this property is a boathouse with a large deck on top at the edge of the shoreline with a gorgeous lake view. A large sandy area with many toys for children to play is close to the shore. Since this property is on the east shore of the lake it provides for a sunny shoreline into the evening and beautiful sunset views.
Extending from the boathouse onto the lake is a long "L" shaped pier with steps and ladders into the lake, and a bench at the end of the pier. There is also an outbuilding that is used as a changing room near the shoreline. Also provided for use is a single kayak, a double Kayak, and a paddleboat.
Property also has an outdoor fireplace and a screened in Gazebo with lights and electrical outlets.
Across the road from the property is a nature area and a pond, so it is very enjoyable to watch and hear the birds and frogs; and this helps provide for greater privacy and makes you feel like your in northern Wisconsin.
This house was pretty close to perfect for what we needed. Plenty of sitting room for all of us. We booked the lake house for 2 wks. There were 4 adults and a 10 yr old and 2 yr old. Three of the adults were out of town for 3 of the days, and I was at work till 7pm mon-fri, but we still enjoyed our stay. They let us check in early, because of the cold weather. We stayed during the crazy cold winter storm that swept across most of the country. Originally we were told we were responsible for the snow removal, and salting of the side walks, but several times throughout our stay the owners offered to come work on it for us, which was a huge help. Plenty of firewood and throw blankets were provided insuring that everyone was comfy and warm during this winter storm. Wonderful personal touches were set up for us. They had a cute little Christmas tree and a few decorations, which was perfect as we were there over the Christmas holiday. A wonderful bottle of local wine and a sweet treat was there for our enjoyment. For any one considering the lake house for someone with disabilities, this home was ok for someone with a walker and prosthetic leg. Passage to bathroom and doorway were too narrow to pass straight forward, but my mother was able to turn sideways to get in. Bathroom gets the job done, but could definitely use an update. The kitchen is small, and as this home is still used by the family at times, there is a lot of clutter on the already limited counter space. So if you're planning on cooking set up one or two of the tv trays in front of the backdoor to give you some more working/prep space. The owners provide natural cleaning clothes and dish soap, which I don't feel get the job done. So you may want to buy a small bottle of your favorite dish soap and kitchen cleaner if you're a clean freak like me. Over all the lake house was a great place to stay, and I'm absolutely positive it is an even better experience in the summer, with its deck over the water and it's private steps taking you right to the water. I plan to book again in the summer months sometime.
Renate was an amazing hostess who made sure that this was the right fit for our daughter and her family needing some temporary housing.. She was quick to respond to our inquiries, and was very accommodating to their needs. It is an adorable cabin on a beautiful lake, and the surrounding wooded area. is gorgeous. We would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a spot to enjoy the Lake Country. Thank you, Renate, for your gracious hospitality!
Mark and Renate are the most wonderful hosts, who were so attentive and made sure the place was perfect for us. It is truly a special place. If you or someone you love is receiving treatment at Rogers Behavioral Health, this makes an ideal home base. It is also perfect for a peaceful vacation. The whole property is just charming and the lake pristine. We had access to a beautiful deck, dock, beach, kayaks, paddleboat, hammock, gazebo, fire pit, shaded yard...and that was just outside! Inside, the decor is cozy cabin and so comfortable. The rooms are even nicer than the pictures. You will truly love it here. Lots of great things to do around the area as well from hiking and shopping to dining out. We highly recommend it and look forward to finding another time to go back!
