Had a great time! House had everything we needed for our vacation. Loved sitting out on the deck and using the hot tub. Good location!
Th location and view are stunning.
Although the house is nice overall and clean on the surface, there were many disappointing elements. The surfaces were nicely cleaned, but there was an obvious lack of deeper cleaning. For example, the porch was incredibly dusty and had algae deposits (and dead birds from window strikes as well). The top of the fridge had a thick layer of dust, as did many of the vents (including those right over the shower). The towels smelled moldy after one use (meaning they weren't washed on hot and/or with the proper detergents). There were no throw blankets, so we found a few in closets but they were musty and some had dead bugs in them. (Closets were disorganized and cluttered as well!) Neither fireplace worked properly. There were no instructions on what to do so we called and, when doing what they said, realized that both fireplaces needed servicing. This lack of signage/instruction at the property was true for a few other areas as well (such as the AC/heating system which was confusing and hard to operate!) Lastly, there was a security camera on the lower deck that was pointed at the master suite french doors and the hot tub. This felt intrusive and prohibited us from even staying in the master suite. We chose to stay in a different (much smaller) room instead. Overall, the house wasn't set up properly to be a rental (with instructions for important systems or a proper cleaning and organization regiment). It felt unkempt, hence the three star rating & disappointment.
My family (6 adults and 2 toddlers) had an amazing time! This house provides plenty of space, with a large living space and dining table for everyone to gather, beautiful fireplace and cozy couches, excellent deck space to enjoy the beautiful views and an awesome hot tub to wind down at the end of the day! Would highly recommend and would love to stay again one day!
My family and I had a wonderful stay at Modern Mountain Retreat - Black Mountain, NC. The house was very clean, the view was amazing, the mattresses were super comfortable, and it was in a great location. We could not have asked for a better Thanksgiving vacation home. I highly recommend! Vickie
We very much enjoyed our stay at this beautiful mountain home. It had everything we needed! The hot tub out on the deck with the mountain views was amazing! We would definitely visit again.
Such a great location! The view is incredible, Hot tub was great! Only down side was that the fire place wasn't working (which is totally understandable and the owner is getting upgraded) will for sure book again.
We loved the house. Very open and secluded. The driveway is steep, so we couldn't really explore because we are an older group and getting up that driveway by foot was not an option. The house is close to everything so we did a lot a walking in the towns nearby and the weather was perfect. Enjoyed the view of the mountains everyday!
This property was perfect for our family of 6 adults and 2 children. The management was extremely responsive and accomodating. We enjoyed cooking together every night. The home is about 5 minutes away from an Ingles supermarket. We took day trips to Black Mountain, Asheville, and the Biltmore Estate. The overall experience met our highest expectations.
Five adults combined a remote work opportunity with a mountain getaway. There was ample space for the five us us to work (including multiple conference calls) without interfering with one another. The scenery was as billed... awesome views and awesome sunsets. The hiking nearby was great and the home is convenient to downtown shops and restaurants. The house itself was very comfortable, however there were a few things that prevented us from giving a 5 star review, including fireplaces that we're not operable, a discarded, rusting wood stove stored on one the deck, and a hot tub cover was in disrepair and unsightly. The kitchen was well appointed, however there were only two dishtowels and four placements (minor inconveniences). All in all this worked out perfectly for us... a fabulous 10 days in Black Mountain.
