My wife and I enjoyed staying at this property. The back deck with the hot tub was pretty special. It was very private and quiet. A really nice weekend getaway!
The pros of this VRBO outweighed the cons as far as delivering what we were looking for in a Russian River Wine Country home base. This house is perfectly situated between Jenner/Pacific Coast/Highway 1 to the west, Guerneville/Russian River Wineries to the northeast, and Occidental to the south. We went into both Guerneville and Occidental for dinner, which were no further than 15 minute drives. Some of our favorite Russian River Wineries were no more than 45 minutes away (Porter Creek, Russian River Vineyards, etc.), which made for a peaceful and relatively quick drive home after wine tastings. The house is also located in the redwoods and off of a creek, which was peaceful* and what we were looking for. *However, the creek is on the other side from a main road (Bohemian Highway) which means that cars are zipping by pretty frequently ~100 yards from the back patio when you're relaxing in the hot tub. This wasn't terrible, but the bigger issue was that none of the windows have curtains/shades/etc., so our group felt very exposed at night when it was pitch black outside and all of our lights were on in the house. Finally, the house was recently remodeled with modern touches and appliances, but everything felt either dirty or in some state of repair. For example, the pillows in the bedroom were all covered in hair and the hot tubs jets weren't functioning properly. For a cabin in the middle of the woods, these things are to be expected, but the photos posted on VRBO portrayed a much cleaner, up to date house than what we experienced. With all of that said, the owner was responsive during our trip and seemed to act on feedback from earlier reviews (Ex: there was plenty of paper towel rolls in the house!) so I'm optimistic that this place is a work in progress and will be in much better shape for future guests. All in all, I would recommend this house for groups like ours (two mid-twenties couples doing a weekend of wine tasting in Russian River Valley!) but maybe not for families or people who are clean freaks when they travel.
I think as far as rentals go in the area this is probably one of the nicer homes. It was comfortable and cozy in many ways.
Comfortable property in lovely location by a stream and among the trees. Nice deck overlooking stream and trees. House decor is simple and functional. Kitchen could use a large salad bowl and a microwave. Closets could use a few more hangars. Very quiet and peaceful.
We had a great time. Lovely house right on river. Just what we needed for mini get away.
Loved the modern decor and the cozy fireplace. Everything was clean and in general worked well. The cabin is furnished sparsely which works great to not have a ton of clutter, but be sure to bring any extras you may need - paper towels, etc. We stayed in December and it can great pretty cold in this area but the fireplace (once it gets going for a bit) really heats the place up. All in all we enjoyed our stay - you can tell a little time has passed since the remodel of this house, but overall it is cozy and inviting.
House views are really lovely. Still, be sure to bring printed directions with you in the car because no signal for GPS. Thankfully, the homeowner prepared me for that. House was as described, minimalist in decor and style, loved the fireplace. NO television or microwave, but they had really strong wifi so we were able to watch movies on an IPAD. Even though the house is pretty spacious, the wall heaters and the fireplace work very well and made it nice and toasty, gave a sweet cabin vibe. Only bummer was that we didn't find paper towels anywhere so we had to use toilet paper for everything (as napkins, clean up, etc.). We were able to laugh it off because the views and experience was still perfect. Overall, really wonderful!
This is an updated, clean cozy cabin along a lovely creek set amongst the redwoods. The beds were comfortable, the plumbing works well (including the hot tub), and the kitchen is well equipped. A charming spot for a quiet gettaway. We hope to return.
This is a great little cabin in the woods, loved waking up in the trees, it had been remodeled, but it definitely needs some attention, loved spending time on the deck.
