The home is managed by Stay & Sea Vacation Rentals, a family-owned local company specializing in Lummi Island getaways. With deep roots in the community, our team brings authentic island insight and warm hospitality to every stay, blending style and comfort with the knowledge only true locals can offer.

Escape to our peaceful island retreat. Relax on the deck while enjoying a wonderful water view, or curl up in front of our gas fireplace! Explore the wonders of the island –walking along the beach, biking the picturesque roads or hiking the many wonderful trails. Enjoy the healing energy of island life.

Every year our ferry, the Whatcom Chief, goes into dry dock for maintenance at a shipyard. Since there is no substitute vehicle ferry, this means foot passenger service only (you can bring a bike across). There is a shuttle service provided on the island. This is a wonderful time for biking and walking with the vehicle traffic being very low during this time. For passenger boat schedule and more details, please go on-line to Whatcom County Annual Dry Dock.

The house is entirely yours! Our home is great for couples, but also very family friendly. There are two bedrooms with queen beds, a full sofa bed in the living room, and there is also a twin futon in the lounge/office room and a twin foam mattress for the floor that would be great for kids. We also have a Pack ‘n Play (with sheets) and a high chair for little ones.

We have a large deck with water view which includes a gas grill! Our kitchen is fully equipped (we’ve tried to think of everything you would need) with a comfortable dining room.

There is a washer and dryer for you to use, along with laundry detergent.

Accessibility: the house is one-story & wheelchair accessible. We also have a walk-in shower and hand rail at the toilet.

High speed internet is available. We have a Smart TV with streaming channels available for you to log into. There is also a DVD player and DVDs in the TV cabinet for you to enjoy.

Safety features include fire extinguisher, smoke alarm/carbon
monoxide detectors, first aid kit. The house also has a generator that will run the whole house in case the power goes out, which does happen quite a bit, but more in the winter months of course!

We want to let our guests know that we are taking proper precautions with COVID-19 cleaning protocols. Our cleaning staff are well versed in sanitizing techniques and safe practices at our cottage rental.

Please note:
There is no gasoline available on the island, so think about filling up before you arrive. There is a gas station/mini mart at Gooseberry Point near the mainland ferry landing.

Guest have access to the entire house, lawn and apple orchard.

Our house manager Ashley lives on the island and can be reached by text, phone or email. We recommend using text for the quickest response. Ashley is available if you have any questions or concerns. She has lived on the island all her life and has lots of knowledge about the island amenities & activities!

This charming home is situated on the top of a hill in a peaceful neighborhood with beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean and San Juan Islands. It is conveniently located within walking distance of the beach.

Directions:
While traveling north or south bound I-5, take the Slater Road exit #260. Follow the traffic circle and head west, continuing on Slater Road. Travel on Slater Road for 3.5 miles and at the stoplight at Haxton Way, turn left. The Silver Reef Casino will be on your left side. Follow this road about 7 miles until you come down a hill and it opens up to the water. Turn right to the ferry landing (Gooseberry Point). Look for signs for loading and other information. Take the Whatcom Chief Ferry to Lummi Island. Fares will be taken on the ferry. This is about a 7 minute ferry ride.
Ferry Schedule:
See the Whatcom Chief ferry schedule in our photos (both from Gooseberry Point to the island and from Lummi Island to the mainland). The schedule is subject to change, so please visit the Whatcom County website for updates or delays due to weather, etc. The ferry runs weekdays from 5:40 am – 12:00 am. Weekends 7:00 am – 12:00 am. The cost is $14.00 round trip for car and driver. Passengers $8.00 round trip. Those 18 and under are free.

This was our 3rd stay at the Miller's Island Retreat, and it did not disappoint. The kitchen in particular always stands out to us-- a variety of cooking appliances, pots/pans, utensils, and even a few cooking staples (flour, sugar, spices, ice, etc). Cozy blankets, a tea selection, amazing natural light from all the windows. It's perfect and makes the stay even more comfortable, to have even the small things available when you are away from home. And the internet was very usable and fast-- perfectly streamed to the TV all day while we were browsing the internet/playing online games/watching videos. No issues! We look forward to booking our trip for next year! :)

This home had everything needed to accommodate a family visiting relatives on the holiday weekend. The large table held card games and meals.
