Midcentury Modern -Hot Tub - Retro Retreat

We enjoyed our stay the amount of space was great. The beds were very comfortable. The house could use some TLC. The lighting on the stairs were poor,the rugs were not clean. There was no instructions on using the hot tub plus it didn’t seem to be clean enough , we could not find a light switch in the laundry area. The rugs in the upstairs bedroom pose a tripping hazard because they were curled up on the end. Could use chairs in the the upper bed rooms and TV would be great . More than one skillet in the kitchen would be great. The one there was not in very good shape. The coding was comings off. We had to wash some of the rugs.There were lights on the stairs but they weren’t working as older people it was a concern.Overall we enjoyed the space and would use it again.

House was spacious for our group of 17.

Our host was very accommodating. My family was staying there due to my mom’s surgery. She had to go to ICU and our host allowed us to stay past our original date. They made a hard situation easier. I really appreciated their kindness.

First, the positives! Great location within 5 minutes walking distance to the hospital. Quiet neighborhood. Spacious home. Communication was excellent! The kitchen was updated with plenty of dishes, silverware, etc…Towels were plenty. Linens clean and beds comfy. However, the home is quite old (1959) and the furnace was struggling with the house registering at 62 in the mornings and we were told, “well it is an old furnace”. Hot water in the downstairs bath was challenging as the faucet in the shower was in desperate need of replacing. The hot tub needed to have its breaker flipped multiple times before we could get it to work which detracted from the relaxing atmosphere. For the three tvs in the home, only ONE remote was available, so we played, “where’s the remote”.If you just need a bed and a kinda hot shower with the hospital close by…this is for you. Don’t count on the amenities. But the AC was spot on! And the hosts, super responsive.

Picked the home to enjoy a short ride to Bellingrath Gardens.

Overall cleanliness and condition of the property when we checked was less than satisfactory. We had an on-going issue with the first floor gas heating unit that never worked properly. Management did respond to our concerns promptly, however the heating issue was not resolved before we checked-out. Management issued a partial refund for the trouble. Location was very good for what we wanted to do.

We had an absolutely fantastic time at the Retro Retreat! Our team was in town for a tennis tournament, and this charming home was the perfect base for our weekend getaway. The spacious rooms comfortably accommodated all eleven of us, allowing everyone to relax and enjoy their stay. One of the highlights was definitely the hot tub, which quickly became a cherished morning routine. Soaking in it while sipping coffee was a delightful way to start each day. The retro decor added a unique charm that made our experience even more memorable. With its convenient location and inviting atmosphere, we would definitely choose to stay here again!

Other than the pool not being cleaned ((because of prior tenants), the house was perfect for what we needed. We will co.e back
