Maple Bay beachfront suite, just steps to your private beach patio

We loved our week in this quaint, quiet location. The views were spectacular, the hosts were very accommodating. Everything was clean and all amenities were provided-plus more! Our favorite VRBO so far!

Our 10 day stay at Seaside Casita was truly exceptional. The open concept south facing unit was private, peaceful and offered commanding views of Maple Bay from every vantage point. The two tier private waterfront deck was our daily hangout after exploring the myriad outdoor activities on offer in the Cowichan Valley. Cycling the extensive and well maintained Cowichan Valley Rail trails and swimming in Lake Cowichan and popular Maple Bay beach (a 10-minute walk from the casita!) were the highlights of our stay. John and Patricia are superb hosts providing helpful recommendations and ensuring our stay was 10/10. Seaside Casita is one of those rare locations that unquestionably merits a return trip.

Quiet area, with amenities near at hand

This was our second time staying at the Maple Bay Casita and it was just as wonderful as the first time. The host John was super friendly and always available. The place is spotless and has everything that you need. We will definitely be back again!

The unit was perfect for a private getaway. It was right on the water in between Nanaimo and Victoria. There are plenty of hiking and biking trails within an hour drive.

Upon entering the guest suite area through the magical “secret garden,” you are in a secluded quiet place with the lapping of the ocean audible nearby. A well-appointed kitchen with all kinds of appliances made cooking easy and enjoyable. The availability of kayaks was such a huge bonus; it would have been hard bringing our own on this steep property. Would recommend if you need to relax and the accommodation itself is your destination!

We really enjoyed the stay at Maple Bay. The bay and surrounding mountains are beautiful, and we enjoyed watching the water and wildlife over coffee every morning. The hosts were very helpful with local recommendations for hikes, towns to visit, restaurants, and other activities. A peaceful and relaxing escape from the busy outside world! Thanks again!

Would stay again

We stayed for eight nights and loved the experience. I took a picture early every morning out the large window overlooking Maple Bay. Each day had a different look to it. I spent time gallivanting about with my sister, and my husband spent the majority of his time working at the table facing the bay. He was very productive thanks to the Wi-Fi connection and the quiet and beauty afforded him by the location. We had to traverse the driveway and stairs down to the suite, which was manageable but could be an issue in a few years. At that point, we will change how we pack in order to still be able to stay in this lovely location!

Great place to rest and just be. Hosts were always there if you needed and helpful and friendly. Beautiful sunrises and calm nights. Plenty to do and see all close by.

Great location right on the water! Spent quite a bit of time sitting on the beach enjoying the great ambience, watching the tides go in and out. Kayaked around the bay, went for a quick (cold) swim, and we enjoyed walking over to the Hand of Man museum and then to the pub for dinner. The sitting area chairs inside weren’t as comfy as the bed which was a dream to sink into.

Wow! What a beautiful location. We slept with the windows open listening to the waves in the bay, woke to kayak from our back door, and then spent the day relaxing on the beach. Ate fresh plums and figs from the trees in the yard. Close to everything, but feels so far away. We didn't want to leave and will be back for sure!

Loved the place. Excellent location if you want peace and tranquility by the ocean.

We had to be out of our house for flood restoration, so we were not exactly in a vacation mood. But this place lifted our spirits. A convenient cozy set-up with all the amenities needed--and that's saying something for what turned into a 3 weeks stay! The view is stunning, and sitting by the ocean can calm the most frazzled of nerves. The hosts are incredible--gracious, accommodating, and super friendly. They are there if you need them, but in no way encroach on your personal space or privacy. We highly recommend staying here if you're in the Cowichan Valley area. Thank you, John and Patricia, for making a stressful period of time so much easier.
