Placerville, Colorado
Peace is priceless. Up on Hastings Mesa, that is what you’ll find. Soothing silence paired with the sweet sound of nature. Abundant wildlife, clear starry skies, and a radiant alpenglow.
We offer a remarkably diversified ecosystem at an elevation of 8,900’, and are located a convenient 25 minutes outside of the small historic mining town of Telluride, known for its world class skiing and well-known festivals.
***Accessible during the winter. 4WD/AWD/winter tires recommended
The downstairs portion of our home is the space being rented. It is accessed through the front door and down a staircase. The main floor will be closed off to guests.
Downstairs there is a pool table, outdoor grill, and spacious common area equipped with a fireplace. The perfect place to read, write, re-new your inspiration, and experience high country living!
The downstairs bedrooms are very spacious, cozy, and all have views of the valley below. (There is an additional downstairs bedroom and bathroom that can be rented for an additional fee.)
There are over 1.5 miles of walking trails on our property and a beautiful county access road that is safe and accessible for walking, running, and biking. During the winter, one can go alpine skiing and snow shoeing right out the front door!
There’s no shortage of things to do in the area, and if you want some down time, our space is the perfect place to unwind!
Our home was mindfully constructed with sustainability woven into every material used. It is powered by nearly 100 solar panels, and has a gravity-fed water system from a nearby spring.
We look forward to welcoming you to our special sanctuary!

(We also have a studio apartment available to rent on the same property should your group need additional space.)
Our Ranch also includes a world class recording studio that is available to book. Neil Young, Dierks Bentley, and Jewel have all recorded here. The studio was designed by a rocket scientist to be acoustically perfect. The home and recording studio were built to be one of the most sustainable and mindfully designed in the country.
The dirt road we are located on is only accessible from one direction during the winter, and is less than 15 minutes from the Sawpit Gas Station. This portion of the road is open and maintained during the winter.
We did expect a secluded location but never realized the views are so unique. From our bedroom we could see the entire valley which opened in front of us as the house is literally on the edge. There was snow amd the moon gave a miracle glow of the surroundings. Richard who was all the time on the property was very helpul, unintrusive and he gave us a tour of the recording studio amd the green house which are such unique features you don’t expect to find in a wood cabin on top of the mountain. The property is well equiped with everything you need for a comfortable stay, the only inconvenient being there is only one full bathroom so we had to take turns to use it, but it wasn’t a major thing. Everyhing else was so beautiful it totally made the stay a pleasant experience.
It is all as majestic as advertised. Quiet, roomy accommodations with all of the amenities. On site help if you need, but we didn't need. Summer is genuine and responsive. I live in Colorado, and have pretty much explored and played in all of the stunning mountain ranges - the San Juans are my favorite. Telluride is a gem, and only a very scenic 15-20 mins away (longer in the winter due to longer winter route).
Our family and another couple, all adults, were able to book the bottom floor of this unique home the day before our intended arrival date. The host accommodated our last minute booking after another nearby VRBO property cancelled on us. We were there to attend a wedding for dear friends also up on the mesa. One of the highlights of our visit was the gentleman overseeing the property, Greg Overton. Just delightful and made us feel very welcome.
The property exceeded our expectations. From the pictures, it was clear that the house would be beautiful, but they didn't capture the scale and spaciousness. We had a large group of family, and there was plenty of room for everyone to hang out. I was a little worried about the road up to the Mesa before the trip, but it turned out to be fine. We really enjoyed our time there. Summer and Richard were both incredibly welcoming and accommodating. Thank you both for sharing your space with us!
We had a great time out in the countryside at this property for spring break. The kids played in the snow and had snowball fights. The property was beautiful, and the owners were very communicative and accommodating. The drive up the mountain to the house was a challenge, make sure you have 4x4/AWD and big tires and/or snow chains if it’s in the winter. Our party was larger than 6, which did work bc kids slept on air mattresses and couches (just ask permission and we paid a larger fee). But again the family owners were very nice about it. When we booked, I was a bit nervous, it seemed too good to be true, but we had a fantastic time there, and would definitely book again.
