Magical Victorian near hiking / wine trail

It was amazing all around. Fully stocked with everything we could need. Beautiful place. It is one of those places that when you are pulling up, you start doubting whether you are at the right place or not. Filled to the brim with details and so unique. We are already planning our next stay. The only downside was we did not get to stay longer this time! Very clean or course. Just beautiful in every way.

This place is simply magical with a dusting of spookiness at night. We had a fun and quite memorable stay made all the more exciting by all the treasures we found at Nook and Key. Great amenities--everything is thought through so guests don't have to worry about a thing. Thank you!!!! I hope to return soon!

Everything was beautiful, and although we weren’t there for a long time, enjoyed an Incredible sleep in the most comfortable beds!

This home is absolutely beautiful filled with Victorian charm. Period appropriate with a great amount of Victorian touches to enjoy throughout our stay. This home is exquisitely well appointed to make our stay very relaxing. The owners have thought of everything to make this home a delight while visiting the wineries along the Shawnee Wine Trail and the Shawnee Forest area. Well Done!

Amazing stay! This home is stunning! You truly step back in time. We ate local and took a short drive to Shawnee Canopy Tours for zip lining. 10 out of 10! A must stay if visiting southern Illinois!

Very cool Victorian Style house. Beautifully decorated and feels like a step back in time. Dana is a wonderful and responsive host. You won’t be disappointed in choosing this home.

I wish we could have stayed longer. We did not get to stay long enough to enjoy. The house was really neat.

Lovely time, easy for our dog and for our family, did the tarot card reading that was recommended by host and it did not disappoint!

The property was great for our three kids and two large dogs. It’s an awesome home with a great historic feel. We did day trips every day, and everything we wanted to visit was within a short driving distance. We were able to do the Little Grand Canyon, Garden of the Gods, Cave in Rock, Giant City and much more. The home was clean and well cared for. The bedding was phenomenal and super comfortable and clean. The yard provides a place for family fun. If we’re in the area again, this would be the only place we’d want to stay.

I felt like I had stepped back in time. This property is furnished with Victorian style adornments. Each room is comfortable with unique items that intrique you and take you back in time. The hostess was easily accessible and got back to you right away to resolve any issues.

The house was beautiful! We were in awe of the decor and layout. This is a must-stay if you are in southern Illinois!

What an amazing space!! The Nook and Key was just as described (and more!) Pictures honestly do not do this place justice, you really have to experience it!! The craftsmanship and decor are top notch and make you feel the history of the home. Our host, Dana, has thought of everything to ensure a comfortable and memorable experience. The house was filled with thoughtful amenities (everything from mouthwash to sipping scotch). She even coordinated a private chef as an add on to our stay for a special 4 course dinner experience in the formal dining room. Overall, amazing experience!! We especially loved the screened in porch, beautiful Magnolia tree and of course, the Nook under the stairs.

This 1893 vintage property was impeccable. Perfection in its decor, comfort, amenities and hospitality. Every nook and cranny in this house provided unique surprises and entertaining features. We wished we had had the time to take advantage of the murder mystery package!! Maybe next time.Our host, Dana provided warmth and charm ensuring we had maximum enjoyment. Our group traveled to Southern Illinois primarily to experience the Cache River Reserve. This unique property exceeded all expectations and provided an unexpectedly, over-the-top experience. I have used VRBO for decades. I can say without reservation that this stay was at the very top in luxury quality and service. Thank you Dana.
