Soaring Eagle Lodge on Whidbey Island is a sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle of city life. This spectacular waterfront home overlooks the Puget Sound, Mount Baker and the beautiful Cascade Mountain Range. Enjoy stunning views throughout the home and along our 700 feet of bluff frontage with an adventure trail leading down to the lodge’s privately-owned beach.
Soaring Eagle Lodge is nestled 100 feet above the waters of Skagit Bay in the Puget Sound on 5.3 acres of private, park-like grounds with towering evergreen trees including Douglas Firs, White Pines, and a variety of Cedars & Cypress; plus beautiful Madronas, Maples, Cherry trees and more.
The home takes its name from the majestic American bald eagles that soar up and down the coastline directly in front of our bluff. We’re extremely lucky to have two bald eagle nests right on the property, one with a clear view from the Great Room and our back garden (binoculars provided). On Whidbey, Bald Eagle nesting season is approximately April 1 to August 15 each year. If you book during that period, you’re almost guaranteed to witness either our resident eagle pair sitting on eggs (~ April 1-May 7), or bald eagle chicks in the nest anxiously awaiting their parents’ next delivery of fish (~ May 7-August 15). It’s a spectacular experience that many of our guests enjoy and comment on.
At Soaring Eagle Lodge, we cater to guests who appreciate top-tier accommodations and modern conveniences. From deluxe Sleep Number beds, cozy plush robes, ironed pillowcases, a jetted soaking tub, heated travertine bathroom floors, three fireplaces, elegant artwork inspired by the Pacific Northwest and a premium 8 person Bullfrog Spas hot tub – to a gourmet kitchen that delights chefs and home cooks alike, you will feel indulged in refinement and comfort throughout your stay. Relax by a toasty fireplace with a cup of herbal tea or premium coffee while you gaze out through the Great Room’s 24-foot wall of windows at the spectacular waterfront and mountain views.
With lightning fast WiFi throughout the home, Soaring Eagle Lodge is the perfect place to work-from-home. And because most of our guests require 24/7 connectivity without fail, we installed a 48,000-watt Kohler whole house generator so your long-awaited vacation experience will never be interrupted by a power outage. In the event of one, the generator starts automatically and powers the entire home – for your safety and peace of mind. It’s a convenience you don’t know is important when you rent a home until you need it! And on forested Whidbey Island, you need it.
Soaring Eagle Lodge stands out from other vacation homes on Whidbey Island due to its unmatched sense of privacy and immersion in nature. Tucked away from the road amidst lush trees and landscaping, the home remains largely hidden from view. Flanked by forests and woodlands on each side and boasting a stunning open water vista from the back garden, the property feels even more expansive than its 5.3 acres. If privacy is important and you’re seeking a genuine escape, Soaring Eagle Lodge is the perfect choice.
Whidbey Island and the surrounding area offer a wide range of recreational activities, including golf, sailing, fishing, kayaking, whale watching, boat tours, horseback riding, bird watching, hiking, biking, shopping, farmer's markets and more. Loved the stay! Beautiful property, views and peace! I wish there was a way to vet and allow respectful guests.
Just the right size for three couples. Beautiful setting overlooking water. Temp was refreshingly cool. Host provided flowers in honor of our mother, recently deceased. Very kind. Vacation could not have been more perfect.
Our family had a wonderful time on Whidbey and exploring the islands. Soaring Eagle was a perfect home base, and was even more beautiful than the pictures/description.
The Lodge begins to feel like home now. More eagles than ever on Green Road. Thanks Ned for answering all my questions and being such a thoughtful host.
What an incredible place to stay....quiet, clean and it runs like a well oiled machine...Ned does a fantastic job with this property, he has thought of it all. Wildlife everywhere, eagles everywhere....we had an incredible time, hope to stay here again in the future.
It is actually more beautiful than the pictures. Amazing location!
Soaring Eagle is one of best luxury properties I have ever rented in 25 years. Impeccably clean and well stocked with magnificent grounds. Ned is great to work with and easily accessible.
Our family of 5 was so sad to leave Soaring Eagle Lodge on our final morning. We were blessed to spend a week in this beautiful home and idyllic setting. Pictures DO NOT do it justice! The views are staggering, the property meticulously and thoughtfully maintained, inside and out. Every possible need has been anticipated by Ned and his management team and provided for - even those travelers would not think of themselves. We have rented vacation homes numerous times in the past, but we have never had every single expectation surpassed before. Soaring Eagle is a real game changer. We had daily sightings of natures amazing creatures - including bald eagles and other birds of prey, deer, even a raccoon - framed by the backdrop of the soaring trees and the majestic Mt. Baker across the water. The Lodge and Whidbey offer the perfect jumping off point to explore this unique piece of heaven in the Pacific Northwest. Run - don't walk!! You will love every minute.
We enjoyed our week here tremendously! Ned was a great host and the property is just as described. The fire pit and bottomless firewood put this over the top for us - every morning and evening we enjoyed time by the fire. Endless wildlife viewing, great location, and quiet neighborhood (even with the occasional fighter jet landing, which we enjoy). I wouldn’t change a thing.
Soaring Eagle Lodge is more than a place to visit. It is a collection of moments to behold for a lifetime. We planned a girlfriend trip to Whidbey Island for May 7-12 and stayed at the lodge. Ned Towle was a perfect host! Actually, he was more like a friend. Before the trip he gave me tips on things to do, clothes to pack for the weather, and even information on the wood stacks for use with the three fireplaces and outdoor fire pit. But during the trip, our friend Ned was wonderfully accessible and responsive right down to answering questions about the best place to shop for steaks to grill. From the pictures, we expected the lodge to be a nice place. But the pictures cannot capture the spirit and the panoramic beauty of the lodge, the waterfront, the views of Mount Baker, and the green and flowered landscape. The pictures do not show all the details of the luxury accommodations, the cleanliness and pristine upkeep, and the thoughtful hospitality that welcomes travelers. When we entered the lodge, we literally squealed with joy! --- What a sight to behold! When we think back with nostalgia on our girlfriend trip, our memories will endure with fondness of our favorite time---sitting in the Adirondack chairs, listening to classical music, sipping our wine, laughing, and watching the eagles soar! Ned, thank you!
