Stay in the Heart of Acadia, safely tucked away on a ridge, with views of the mountains of Acadia National Park. Walk out the door in the morning to the quiet trails, while your friends and family sleep; set your mood; see the morning wildlife, feel the peacefulness of the park before others arrive.

Sleep well - we have all New luxury Aireloom mattresses in all main bedroom for 2024, while the office sofa bed has a new Plushbeds organic latex mattress and Meliusly support board.
>Visit the town as the day unwinds, either taking a longer walk into town, or driving in, just 5 minutes to the center of town.

Take a drive on the park loop road from the nearby entrance; or book some time on the Kebo Valley golf course, all easily accessed from this location. When night falls enjoy stargazing from the deck in the darkness of our night sky compliant neighborhood. Close to all the town has to offer, yet far enough away to have privacy and the peacefulness of Acadia.

The Perch is a modern, solar powered, open concept, custom designed house that was completed in the fall of 2020. It is tastefully decorated with local art and quality furnishings. Set on over an acre of land, it is a place to relax, reflect and get in touch with nature. There are unobstructed views of Cadillac, Dorr and Kebo Mountains from all living spaces and decks, with peaks of Champlain and Huguenot Head poking through the trees. The yard has been left natural and is visited daily by deer, turkey and other wildlife.

The Perch was built in one of the best locations on the island, with direct access to everything the island has to offer, yet quietly tucked away next to Acadia in a newly developed exclusive, secluded neighborhood on over an acre of land. Town Green is minutes away, the Great Meadow trailhead just steps away, the Park Loop Road just around the corner, while the ride to the Carriage Trails is easier than biking from town. The entrance to the Cadillac mountain road is also nearby if you have reservations to see the sunrise or sunset, or you can plan out a sunrise hike from the house or the also nearby North Ridge trailhead. Directly bordering Kebo Valley Golf Club, there is no other place on the island closer to the course. A peaceful retreat with none of the noise, traffic and congestion of downtown, you can plan your day with a hike or bike out the door, even before the rest of your group is awake.

Daily hikes from our house are on the Jesup Path, Stratheden, Gorge Path, Kebo Mountain, Homan’s, Emery, Kurt Diederich’s Climb, Ladder Trail and even longer trips to the Top of Cadillac or Champlain Mountains.

All bedrooms and the Great room have views of Cadillac and Dorr Mountains. With 3000 square feet of living space, and two different decks, you will have room to spread out. The primary bedroom is spacious with a private deck, a new (2024) King size Aireloom mattress, en-suite bathroom with large soaker tub and cavernous custom shower. The upstairs bedroom has a new Queen size Aireloom mattress an en-suite bathroom, while the lower guest bedroom has a new Aireloom mattress and office bedroom has a queen size pull out sofabed. The downstairs guest and office bedrooms share a bathroom.. In addition, there is a powder bathroom on the main floor.

Designer “cooks kitchen” has a fast cooking Induction stove and large island. The high ceilings on both floors and single depth of the house provide amazing light and views of the surroundings, while air conditioning and heating throughout guarantee your comfort on both cold and hot days.

While not ADA compliant, 2 story house has an elevator, wide doorways, a level bridge to enter the house and minimal thresholds. It is also a Smart Home that allows voice control of lights and the common area shades. If it is a rainy day or you just want to stay in, there is cable and streaming services on all TVs. There is also an outside infrared gas grill and a microwave tucked away in the island.

We also have worked hard to make sure you have extra towels, linens, soap, spices, condiments – all the things you would expect to have if you were home – including a few emergency items in case you forgot something or are arriving late. We want you to enjoy your time in our home on Mount Desert Island as much as we do.

This home is perfectly located for a trip to Bar Harbor and Acadia National parks. Every convenience was thought of and available for our family. The parking pass in Bar Harbor was especially useful as we enjoyed dinner and shopping most evenings. The home was very clean and comfortable with so many extra amenities. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

We loved our stay at this beautiful home with gorgeous views! It was a great location, conveniently located to Acadia and town! The house included a downtown parking pass, which was very helpful! It was very well stocked from the kitchen with cooking supplies to the bathrooms with nice towels and amenities.

The property is fabulous! The pictures just cannot capture how incredible it is. It is better than what you see in the pictures. The art is beautiful! I’ve never stayed at a VRBO that was better stocked. Everything we looked for in the kitchen was provided. They even provided gourmet olive oil and balsamic that was locally purchased. It was so delicious that we made sure we went and purchased them before we left. The folder of information provided on the house was exquisite. It even had a reference to one of the recipe books in the kitchen and a must make chocolate cake recipe. I wish I had taken a picture of the recipe. They even provided flour and sugar and etc., including coffee. The utility room was also stocked with laundry detergent, even an unscented option! It was amazing and so relaxing. We had no trouble the whole time we were there. The host was wonderful. He made incredible suggestions for hikes and activities before we arrived. The guestbook was also very informative. So many guests had written a note with their favorite activities. Everyone was so friendly. We also got to meet the house cleaner as we were departing and she was so kind! If we ever get back to Bar Harbor, we will stay here again. If there was a way that would allow me to rate this house higher I would. Five stars is not enough! Thank you so much for sharing your home! Well done!

We decided to spend a bit more to rent The Perch and we didn’t regret it one bit. Not only is it more beautiful than the photos can describe but your experience just gets better and better as you use the space. It’s also a smart home and Alexa took care of our needs on the light control, music, weather forecast, shades, etc. The parking pass for a reserved spot downtown alone is worth booking this home for! So convenient and what a wonderful thing to know you have a parking spot! The owners have gone above and beyond for provisions. I challenge anyone to find a kitchen gadget needed that wasn’t supplied! They even had extra provisions like cereal, coffee, condiments,Saran wrap, tinfoil and baggies. etc. plenty of games, extra linens, dish and laundry detergent, stain remover and towels! Hair dryers supplied , full size soap, shampoo and conditioner and even a book light in my nightstand. Plenty of tp snd pt! Honestly, we didn’t feel like we were renting a house, we felt like we were staying with our best friend in their full time home. The convenience to everything in town and the park was so wonderful without having to deal with the crowds or traffic of town itself! Fun to watch the golfers on hole 16. The welcome instructions & responsiveness was so prompt and thorough. The host C would literally respond within minutes! The artwork is beautiful and it doesn’t stop at the walls. The pottery & accents throughout the home are all gorgeous. The stargazing was spectacular!

The Perch is exactly as described and pictured. It’s very spacious and comfortable and has a beautiful view of Cadillac Mountain. It’s also very well stocked with cookware, spices, bath products and headlamps for night hiking. The parking pass is a great perk! Al and Kathy also gave suggestions of trail heads, restaurants and shops. Very helpful! They are great hosts and are quick to respond back. Thank you for sharing such an amazing place!

Our stay at The Perch (kids 15, 13, 9) was simply amazing. We booked our vacation plans 30-45 days and boy did we get lucky with The Perch. It was a very short drive to Bar Harbor and while we didn't walk it, we sure thought about it. The view out the back of Cadillac Mountain is amazing, my wife and I sat outside after hikes and it was great! A few deer walked past The Perch and the road that you see in the pictures is really quiet and not an issue at all. We stopped for a few groceries before getting into Mount Desert. We neglected to get shampoo, soap, paper towels, etc. and we were pleasantly surprised that the house was SO well stocked with everything you need. That was so great. The elevator was a kid favorite, used for the heavy luggage or just a ride down at night. The beds, towels, covers, etc. were comfortable. It was unseasonably warm in Bar Harbor during our July stay (a shame for folks from FL). The AC worked really well, the automatic shades provided good privacy and shade. The parking pass was A-MA-ZING. When we drove to Bar Harbor (for the great restaurants) we watched others driving around trying to find parking. We turned into the designated parking area, pulled into our assigned spot and voila, DONE! We didn't have any issues during our stay but did check in with the property manager C and he was so responsive every single time. If you are reading this and planning a trip to Bar Harbor, just book it! Will we stay here again? YES!!
