Luxury Spacious Alexandria Home Minutes to Washington D.C.

Pros: Excellent communication with the owner, great location, lots of space, comfortable beds. In the basement area, there is a huge TV, a comfortable sofa, and chairs that easily seat 7 people, a game table, and a bar with a refrigerator. The main bedroom suite has a bathroom with a heated floor, a fireplace, and a jacuzzi. The kitchen has 2 ovens and a microwave, and a washer and dryer. There are 2 driveways and a garage, so there is plenty of room to park off the street.Cons: The kitchen is not well-equipped. The pots and pans are old and falling apart, no large pots, no mixing bowls or serving dishes, no cookie sheets, no mixer or blender, and the knives need sharpening. There is a Keurig coffee maker, but no coffee pods. No exhaust fan in the kitchen. We couldn't get any of the fireplaces to work.Work-arounds: The dining room only seats 6, unless you bring up some chairs from the basement. The kitchen windows open, and there is a small fan in the coat closet if you need ventilation in the kitchen. I would stay here again, but I'd be sure to bring everything I need to cook. Overall, it is a nice house with lots of spaces for smaller groups to have privacy, but if you have a group of 17 (the maximum that can sleep here), there isn't a space for everyone to come together, except possibly outside.

The stay was nice and we enjoyed our time there. The master bedroom suite was spacious and very comfortable. But a few things could have been better. Just before we arrived, we were notified that there was a problem with the stove. The property manager was great with communicating. But we were left with only 2 burners for the week. Cooking for 8 adults with 2 burners and a cool oven was somewhat difficult. We did not have WiFi for the first day or two and needed to wait for the repair man to reprogram the system. So we missed a half day of site-seeing. Overall, several small items needed attention and I sent a list to the manager after we left - not in a rude way. But to ensure the home was protected and a better experience for the next guest. DC and the neighborhood was great, the home was good. I would stay there again if we make the trip back to DC area.

The overall space in this rental is excellent...lots of room for a larger group such as a family gathering. Very good amenities such as a game table, inside & outside bars, large smart TVs, a large refrigerator, etc. Communication from the host was detailed and frequent, however, the code provided for access to the property was not correct and that was a problem as my flight was delayed and I was still in the air when my family members were trying to check in. Happily, they were able to contact VRBO and received a new code after 45 minutes or so but that really should not have happened. Other reviews reference a lack of kitchen supplies, for the most part, I think the utensils, plates, cups, pots, pans, etc were adequate. The glassware was not (perhaps due to breakage over time?). The description of the number of bedrooms is really confusing. The home accurately lists 5 bedrooms but then describes 1 master on the upper level, 3 bedrooms on the main floor and 2 bedrooms on the lower floor. There is only one bedroom on the lower floor. This home is listed as sleeping 16 or 17. There is no way that is the case. There are four queen beds and 2 single beds, so the most people accomodated with a bed could be 10 and that's only if you have 4 couples sharing a bed. A couple more people could sleep on couches if necessary. There are also some maintenance issues (plumbing & electrical & general refresh) which need to be addressed and the host has been made awarevof these

We had 8 adults and 8 children under 8 yrs old. The house was advertised as sleeping 17. The house only has bedding for 10, not 17. The living areas are sparse with only a sofa and 2 soft chairs. The dining room only seats 6. The kitchen is poorly equipped. The outside amenities are very good..fire pit, grill, sitting area. The location is very good. We were able to make the house work for us because my daughter and family live in Arlington and they stayed the nights at their house.

First off, host contact was great. Very responsive to questions and providing clear instructions regarding our stay. House was pretty nice and good for accommodating a large group, especially if family oriented. Kitchen was great for hosting large family meals. Slept 11 very comfortably and plenty of bathrooms and hang out space. Plenty of towels, bedding, and pillows for a large group. Outdoor area was also nice, just too cold to enjoy it in February. Plenty of parking space. The areas for improvement include: 1) more cutlery! Not enough forks, and things like large spoons and spatulas. If you can accommodate up to 17, stock the place accordingly. 2) a pair of potholders would be appreciated. Ovens make things hot 3) some basic cleaning materials! Need to be able to clean up those counters after cooking and eating. 4) Shore up the faucets, cabinets, door locks, and the garage door openers. Lots of things loose in there. 5) Need a new microwave. Its basic function is to heat things up. This one sounds like it works, but comes out same temp as it went in.
