Open flowing floor-plans and wide light-filled windows look out onto mossy stone work, sun dappled old growth hardwoods, shaded decks, and a waterfall pond. We really love this place, and think it's a true Asheville gem, drawing inspiration from some of our favorite local upscale destinations – the Grove Park Inn and Shoji Resort/Spa. In the spirit of those destinations and Japanese mountain retreats, this is a place for you to unwind in peace, comfort, and a healthy dose of luxury.
Lounge on the comfy leather couch (and the ridiculously soft LoveSac) watching movies or listening to music on the home theater. Dine together by sweeping casement windows looking out over sun shaded decks and the waterfall pond. Relax on the back deck, grilling, playing in the hot tub, roasting marshmallows over the fire, or just breathing in the cool mountain forest air with a tasty beverage in hand.
Sleep in three bedrooms, each lovingly made up so you feel like you just checked into a luxury resort. The first two have queens, one a little firmer, the other a little softer, to cater to your preferences (both are delicious for sleeping). The master bedroom has a beautiful and luxurious king bed to stretch out on. We believe there are few things as important as a good night’s sleep, especially on vacation.
Pamper yourself in our two gorgeously tiled bathrooms. We really love them both. The tile work is luxurious. The white towels are so soft. Nick designed the master bathroom to be dramatic and soulful, with dark gray contrasting tile, chrome fixtures, aged wood accents, and bright white decor. Sarah designed the shared bathroom to be soft and warm, with taupe undertones and pinkish hues and plush linens. They are made for pampering!
The kitchen is big and open and full of light. In true open concept fashion, you can happily partake in all the house’s goings on from your quartz countertop, chatting with friends in the living room, or watching tv and listening to music, while you prep that yummy meal or snack. Drawers and cupboards are fully stocked with high quality kitchenware and utensils and appliances. It has anything you could want to cook or drink with, and to feel in style doing it.
In the living room we have a very nice home theater setup, with 64” Ultra HDTV and surround sound. For media with have lots of great subscriptions for you to enjoy – Netflix, Hulu, HBO, Showtime, and a premium Cable TV hookup. Internet is blistering fast cable (100+ mb/s download and 10+mb/s upload) and completely consistent.
There’s a gas stove in the great room if you’d like to enjoy a fire. Central heat and AC keep the temperature very well regulated. Lots of parking for your cars. There are some other mobile homes on our road, but the property is 1.5 acres and very secluded. For most of the year, when the leaves are in, you can’t even see any other houses except a couple along the driveway.
Everything is washable and stain resistant. Relax and enjoy!
For extra guests, or children, we have a blow-up queen mattress. Also, the living room ottoman is surprisingly large and comfy, and when put next to the couch actually makes a pretty nice bed (we’ve tried it, when Nick injured his back that was the only spot he felt comfortable sleeping for a whole week)! With these provided options the house can comfortably sleep up to 9 adults. For parties larger than that please contact us, we can be flexible.
The road here comes through a nice sampling of Western North Carolina landscape, with rolling hills and hollers, forested mountains, small farms, houses and mobile homes. It’s rural country through and through. The folks around here are friendly and welcoming for the most part (and in general more-so than many places we’ve been).
This little Asheville retreat is a really special blend of old world rusticism and new modern openness. It’s beautiful, functional, and centered around the natural beauty of our Western North Carolina landscape. We hope you love it as much as we do!
A note on Weather Events - please be aware that our area gets snow and ice from time to time. About once a year its enough that the roads become undrivable, and every couple years the power goes out. If power went out the house would have heat, but no running water or lights. Also, it seems hurricanes have been increasing in recent years. Sometimes they affect our area as tropical storms, and hurricanes may pose issues for those travelling from coastal areas. We do not offer refunds outside our normal cancellation policy for weather related events unless local evacuations are mandated or local travel prohibited. This is simply because the weather, and folk's comfort dealing with it, is so variable. We Highly recommend purchasing vacation insurance that will cover weather related cancellations if this is a concern, especially during snow and hurricane season. If any of this is a concern for you, please let us know ahead of booking and we can answer any questions.
This property is as described. We had a very nice family vacation. The driveway was the only thing that I had to get used to. I'm not used to mountain terrain, so the steep driveway was a surprise even though it was described in the information. The home is peaceful..the views from all windows were lovely. The neighbors are closer than I thought they would be, but because the properties are spaced up the mountain side, it's not an issue. A lovely place to stay.
We loved our stay in Nick and Sarah's relaxing getaway house. We were a group of 5 adult women and were perfectly comfortable. Everything was clean and beautiful. We spent 2 days out and about in the area and 1 day playing games/relaxing at the house. 0-15 minute drive to downtown Asheville and easy to find/navigate. Check in/check out processes were easy. We enjoyed the outdoor deck space, hammock, hot tub, and indoor open concept living/dining/kitchen areas. Bed rooms were clean and comfortable. Little touches through out the home had us feeling comfy and cared for. Would definitely book/stay here again if in the Asheville area!
The property is very well maintained and was extremely clean. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you could possibly need. The pictures were pretty much spot on with the decor. The beds were very comfortable and there was even a pack n play for our 16 month old granddaughter to sleep in during our stay. We enjoyed sitting outside and our son-in-law and daughter enjoyed the hammock which looks like a new addition. The driveway provided plenty of room for two vehicles and turning around was pretty easy. We're glad we had two SUV's due to the hills and a couple large potholes. We'd definitely stay here again if our travels take us to Asheville in the future.
This property was centrally located for our visit to Asheville. It was just as pictured and the outdoor space was fabulous. We had an issue with the cable but Nick had it fixed quickly. We really enjoyed our stay at this property.
Beautiful and relaxing home in the woods! We enjoyed the hot tub every night after hiking and had several campfires. The space inside was exactly what we were looking for with our family of 6 adults. We would highly recommend this home!!
We loved the location, only 15 mins from Asheville. It was a clean and comfortable stay, plenty of space for our family of 5!
This home was perfect for our couples trip to Asheville. It was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. The outdoor hot tub was a plus! It was about a 15 minute drive to the breweries in downtown Asheville.
The house was the cleanest I have seen when renting from VRBO or any other site! It was stocked w/ everything we needed except a broom, which we desperately needed due to the tree debris. The property is close to everything you can imagine!
The owners were extremely responsive. The house has been redone and is very pretty. We especially liked the primary bath, and the beds were comfortable. My kids loved the huge Lovesac! The hot tub was a great touch - turn off all the lights and you can view the stars. Plenty of room, and we felt relaxed each evening we came back after a day of hiking. I do suggest having an SUV, or vehicle that is not low to the ground. There are some potholes turning into drive that make your tired spin. Can simply fill those in with gravel and it would be much easier. I also suggest bring gallons of drinking water with you. We would stay again!
Everything about our stay exceeded our expectations. The place looks wonderful in the pictures and is even nicer in real life. The hosts were extremely helpful and quick to answer any questions we had. We are already considering booking our trip for same time next year we loved it that much. Thanks again Nick!
I stayed at this property for five relaxing days with friends. Tucked away and quiet, the owners did a great job creating a relaxing ambiance. The outdoor space, not pictured, is gorgeous and one of the best parts!
We loved hanging out on the peaceful deck in the woods with our coffee and coming home from a long day of hiking to relax in the hot tub and catch the baseball game on the big TV. The outside was so natural and serene and the inside, clean, updated and modern. It was central to the hiking we planned and even closer to downtown Asheville and the River Arts District than we expected. Wonderful stay!
The house was everything as described, comfortable, super clean with lots of amenities. Our family enjoyed the house and all the amenities along with the peace and quiet. We used the hot tub everyday and had a few bonfires to cap off wonderful days spent around Asheville. Thank you for such a comfortable wonderful place to stay for our time visiting North Carolina.
Our stay was very nice. Close to Asheville, yet far enough away that it was peaceful and serene. It had a very large table for games and meals. The beds were great. And the house was very clean.
Property was as we expected from the photos. Nice furnishings, clean and well maintained. Plenty of space for our group of 4 to enjoy. Hot tub and outside fire ring we’re both appreciated. Owner responds to questions very quickly. We had one water pump issue and he was out and had it fixed super fast on a Sunday morning. We had a great time and would strongly recommend this house. For folks new to the unit, the stone steps in the photos are the way into the house. I managed with bad knees by walking on the moss/grass around the steps (owner suggested this for me). Also, the drive up the street is a bit steep and there are some rocks to avoid when turning both into the street and into the house. Just go slow.
