New in our program, this home has many great reviews from past guests.

Welcome to The Kinnakeeter! This sun-drenched oceanfront home is truly what vacation dreams are made of. With six primary bedrooms, an elevator, a game room, a theater room, and a private pool and hot tub, The Kinnakeeter has the amenities of a resort all under one roof. The Kinnakeeter is located on Oceanview Drive in Avon, a quick drive to multiple restaurants, shops, and the grocery store. The driveway provides plenty of parking space, and there is additional room under the house for storage or parking. A full outdoor bathhouse is located just off the pool area, and all the decks are accessible from the outside, so you can go from the bottom to the top without stepping foot indoors.

The bottom floor is where the fun begins. Kick back at the poolside tropical bar with your favorite tunes playing on the outdoor surround sound speakers as the family makes their way back and forth from the beach. Afterward, head inside to shoot a game of pool and make a drink in the downstairs bar and kitchenette. If you are feeling sunburnt, find your favorite movie to watch in the cool AC of the 12-seat theater room. The kids will be extremely happy to make this floor their home for the week with a primary double bunk bedroom located down the hall.

There are four primary bedrooms on level two, all of which have king beds, a spectacular ocean view, and access to the deck overlooking the pool area. Each room has its own design and character, and all of the bathrooms are spacious with dual vanity sinks. There is a utility room located on this floor with a storage closet and two sets of washers and dryers. If you want to escape from the group for a little while, there is also a reading den with books, a TV, and access to the shaded front deck overlooking the driveway.

As you climb to the third level you are greeted by a panoramic ocean view, high ceilings, comfortable furnishings, and an immaculate kitchen. Whether you are sinking into the couch, sitting at the dining room table, or cooking, you will always have a stunning view of the rolling waves. The kitchen is complete with stainless steel appliances, two refrigerators, two dishwashers, and an island with an extra sink that also doubles as a breakfast bar. There are two dining room tables, one of which seats everyone, and another pub-style table that seats even more guests. Cooking, drinking, and laughing up here with your loved ones with the ocean as your backdrop will surely create memories that will last a lifetime. The final primary bedroom is located here on level three just off the living area. As you can see, The Kinnakeeter has set the bar high for a luxurious escape to Hatteras Island. Full of top-of-the-line amenities, spacious living quarters, and million-dollar views, an escape to The Kinnakeeter will be the vacation of your dreams!

The house itself was amazingly beautiful. The location perfect. And providing all the amenities had worked would have been a 5star review. The listing shows double washer/dryer. Upon arrival only one washer and dryer set worked. Mid week the second dryer went out. After much back and forth we were simply told it had to be replaced and left with no other solution than to find and use the local Vacasa laundromat. Having to take time out of our vacation to do laundry for a group of 12 people was a huge dilemma. I understand appliances break however it was completely unacceptable that the first dryer and washer set were broken already. The dish washer under the sink does not dry - that was noted in previous reviews so should have been addressed. Once more left only to one of two “listed” appliances. The ice machine did not work. Alex the maintenance man did come by and look at it - said it was fixed but it was not. Having to purchase that amount of ice was also very inconvenient. The TVs in all the bedrooms had no volume and no way to adjust volume control thus useless. The elevator malfunctioned and beeped constantly until someone arrived to shut it off - Which I am thankful for the speedy response. All around we had a great trip. The home, location to beach, pool, and view made it all worth it. However the lack of care taken to maintain the home and thus unfulfilled expectations about the property was very disappointing. Especially for the amount of money paid for this trip. This is our second stay at a Vacasa residence and likely will be our last.

Something for the whole family: Primary waterfront suites for the parents and grands, huge gathering space upstairs for meals, games, enjoying the ocean view, and entire bottom floor plus pool is great for teen and kid activities.

Plenty of room for 13 people. The house was comfortable and clean. Loved the location. Couldn’t get any of televisions to work but on vacation and didn’t really need them. We would definitely book this house again.

The amenities do not count unless they can be used. Volleyball court is completely over grown with bushes, mold in the one dishwasher...mold in some of the shower heads..bottom freezer of fridge does not seal therefore cannot be used...grill is unusable and is probably a fire hazard..icemaker couldn't be used because it needed a filter that would take days to come in..the upside is location super close to Food Lion, pool and hot tub were clean, house needs a DEEP cleaning for sure but basic cleaning was done..if all the deep clean was performed and the amenities were ALL usable I would return. The outdoor furniture was solid and great quality. But house and amenities as is, no, we will look for another home next year.

Having stayed here and in other nearby properties before, we decided to try it one more time in hopes that some improvements had been made. Despite a good pre-arrival cleaning thanks to local Avon staff, the property needs a complete upgrade as essentially nothing has been done to it for many years. Additionally Having to deal with Vacassa staff not on the island complicates everything since they obviously have to contact local staff to answer even simple questions. After this stay we are done with the property and with Vacassa.

The location is excellent. The once great house needs a deep cleaning and update. Its condition upon our arrival was disgusting with many major problems such as elevator not working, both grill and tiki bar rusted and unusable and many other issues. For example, there was an electrical outlet in master bedroom hanging out of wall with lamp plugged in, kitchen faucet filter was filthy, TV in upstairs living area did not work, etc. Dealing with Vacasa is a nightmare as those who answer the phone are obviously reading a script and are of no help. Only the local staff in Avon and on Hatteras Island are helpful and deserve praise.
