Beautiful, spacious rooms. Well-stocked with necessities. Convenient location. Clean and very comfortable furniture, including beds. Peaceful setting
This is an excellent place to stay. It was even better than we ever could have hoped for. It sounded wonderful when we booked it, but I don’t think we ever realized it would have two living rooms and two bathrooms. It was perfect for our family. It was incredibly clean and well stocked. There is even a grill if you’d like to do your own cooking outside! We highly recommend it as a place to stay for anyone that is headed to Old Forge.
Just the perfect home to rent. Plenty of space, well maintained and so close to town. Lost of walking/biking areas too.
My wife, grad student son, and I spent a wonderful and relaxing few days at this very clean and well-kept home in Thendara, just outside Old Forge. Although it was listed as a no pets property, the owner, Sandy, was kind enough to permit us to bring our small, clean Shelty, who never climbs onto furniture. This made all the difference in permitting us to choose this house. As the description says, the wooded back yard faces a golf course, and it is very quiet. We brought our own sheets (queen size) and towels, which made it easy to replace the house linens, and clean and pack up at the end of our stay. The kitchen is very well equipped and we used it for breakfasts. We chose to have lunch and dinners at the many fine restaurants in and near Old Forge. As for activities we rented a canoe and kayak at nearby Tichners and paddled on the Moose River. We went to the interesting Sagamore Camp for a tour of the Vanderbilt estate, and took a longer trip to Tupper Lake to The Wild Center. On the way back we rented a canoe and Kayak from Raquette Lake Outfitters on Long Lake. There are many more outdoor activities available, as well as the gem of an art museum in Old Forge and the Adirondack Museum at Blue Mountain Lake. One important thing that you should know if you arrive after dark is that the house is set back behind another house on Route 28. You won't see the house address marker. The driveway entrance is directly across the highway from the Adirondack Garage. Overall it is a great place to stay, and Sandy is a great owner.
The house was great, very clean, with plenty of room and all the comforts of home. The view to the back yard and golf course is beautiful. We really enjoyed our stay. We will be renting again next summer!
This rental is extremely clean, has everything you need to feel at home and is close to several restaurants, the grocery store and the bike trail. The owners are helpful and easy to work with. We look forward to coming back in July!
