A PLACE THAT FEELS GOOD

Experience what New Mexico travelers hope to find with dark skies, open space, birdsong mornings, peaceful evenings, and genuine Southwestern hospitality rooted in the land, just minutes from Albuquerque.

Nestled along a quiet rural road less than a mile from Historic pre-1937 Route 66, the Casita sits near one of New Mexico’s oldest travel corridors, making it an ideal base for road-trippers, photographers, bird watchers, and travelers drawn to aslower pace. Spend the day exploring Albuquerque, catching a concert, discovering local restaurants, or wandering New Mexico’s wide-open landscapes, then return to the shade of mature pecan and cottonwood trees and peaceful evenings beneath dark skies. Here, the “amenities” are often provided by the land itself: crisp, deep well water, solar-powered living, diverse wildlife, and a quiet that settles in almost immediately. Private enough to slow down and breathe, yet close enough for restaurants, museums, and adventure, Little Bird Casita offers the rare balance of restorative retreat and genuine convenience.

It's so rare to find a place that feels this far from everything — and yet you're minutes from everything you need. — Guest review

100% solar-powered. Deep-well water, clean, cold, and straight from the tap. A working farm / semi-rural setting with mature trees, an active apiary, and open fields where cranes land and roadrunners appear.

Guests who value thoughtful travel and meaningful places tend to love it here. Your footprint stays light, the land around you feels alive, and yes the water really does taste that good.

Guests are often surprised how quickly they can reach restaurants, concerts, shopping, and Albuquerque attractions while still enjoying a truly peaceful setting. The Little Bird Casita is the kind of place guests often wish they had booked longer.

WHAT GUESTS ARE SAYING
La Casita is AMAZING! I loved it so much as soon as I walked in… so much I wanted to extend my stay, unfortunately, they were booked out. Super clean space, very beautiful and with lots of personality, amazing views, very spacious and a very well equipped kitchen. Also, David was very responsive, friendly, and attentive.

If you come across this listing, BOOK immediately, you won’t regret it. When I come back to New Mexico I will be staying here again, 100%.

It's so rare to find a place that feels this far from everything — and yet you're minutes from everything you need.

Wake to the call of sandhill cranes and sip coffee on the patio under mature cottonwoods. A Road Runner made a few visits. A great getaway location.

Serene, peaceful, tasteful, restorative. Quiet, but easy to get into Albuquerque quickly. The perfect balance.

Little Bird Casita was too wonderful for words. Beautiful Southwest art, thoughtfully decorated — the photos don’t do it justice.

Perfect place to stay for a concert at Isleta Amphitheater. Hosts go above and beyond. 10/10 would stay again.

My dogs loved the yard and the trail. I loved everything else. My favorite place to stay in Albuquerque.

No other place will compare to this Casita!

Little Bird Casita was too wonderful for words! Our hosts, David and Joanie, were extremely hospitable and communication was great. The casita was filled with beautiful art, giving us a sweet sense of the culture and history of the Southwest. Every little amenity was carefully incorporated into that lovely space. Little Bird was the perfect location for our base as we enjoyed Albuquerque and daily explored other NM cities. Some of our favorite discoveries were the New Mexico Museum of Geology & Mineral Resources, the Nuclear Museum, The Indian Pueblo Culture Museum (a must see! And, there is a nice restaurant there!), the Ice Cave and Bandera Volcano, the Sandia Peak Tramway, the Georgia O'Keefe Museum, the NM History Museum (and all things Santa Fe!), Taos shopping, White Sands National Park, Pistachioland, the Jemez Pueblo (gorgeous fall color and lovely local people!), Soda Dam, Battleship Park, Red Rock, Valles Caldera, the Petroglyph National Monument, The Back Country Trail, and hiking the mountain trails as well as the walking trail behind the casita! It was so nice to come back to the comfort and beauty of Little Bird at the end of each fun day. We highly recommend this VRBO. It could not have been more perfect!

Very clean, comfortable, well-appointed, spacious property with full kitchen and bathroom on each level. Pet-friendly. Quiet location, away from major traffic, but still accessible to major highways, attractions, shopping & restaurants. Host was very gracious, patient, and available when we had a question. We had a positive experience & would book again.

Trying to find the best seat in the house when there are so many best seats was my only dilemma. Do I enjoy my toast and tea on the back patio outside the kitchen or do I take it to the deck off the bedroom upstairs? David was attentive without being intrusive. We truly felt like we were alone on a ranch. The sunsets are gorgeous from this location and the accessibility to downtown is a breeze. We made three trips to The Sawmill for excellent meals, but if you prefer to cook at the Casita, it's set up for it. The Casita is clean as a whistle and everything is coordinated beautifully. A lovely stay!

This casita is described as a 2 bedroom and it is not. There is a bedroom upstairs and a pullout sofa downstairs with no door. The coffee maker was filthy and the countertop was dirty. I recommend bringing some Clorox wipes. The decor was darling and the art work is beautiful. It was nice to see all the stars ⭐️ at night.

We arrived later in the evening after dark so the owner of the property came out of his adjacent main home next the VRBO to direct us since it was difficult seeing. He seemed nice. We left around 5:30 the following morning before the same came up so obviously we did not stay long but everything was clean and as expected so no problems there. It did a great job of serving us for what we needed it for.
