Interlochen, Michigan
(Permit: PSTR 24-043)
Charming Leaning Pine cottage on Bass Lake with sunset views, just minutes from Interlochen Center for the Arts. Two bedrooms. Sleeps two in the master and four in the guest or use our "bonus room" space. This home has been lovingly preserved and decorated to retain the 1950s lake cottage feel. Bass Lake is ideal for swimming, kayaking, fishing, or just quiet reflection. Public boat launch is straight across from us. Nicely wooded lot for that true "up north" feeling. Traverse City, Old Mission/Leelanau wineries, Sleeping Bear Dunes, and Frankfort are each about a half-hour drive.
We've added a lovely bench swing that faces the lake, between two tall pines; sit there in the morning with coffee for a slow "wake-up" or in the evening with wine to enjoy the sunset.
"We really enjoyed our week at this rental. The lake is quiet and great for fishing and kayaking. With the row boat, kayaks, fishing poles and grill included you can start enjoying the lake and outdoors immediately. The lake is shallow and safe for kids and dogs to swim. The description and photos are exactly what you get, no dishonesty or deception. Everything was great." -Mark, Clarkston, MI

Our family had a great 4 night stay at Leaning Pine. House is clean and amazingly decorated in mid century mod. We loved the decor! The neighborhood is quiet and secluded but still close to shopping. We found ourselves at Tom’s Grocery store a lot and just eating at the cottage every night. Lake views from home are amazing. We sat on the dock and watched the sunsets. Place is stocked with board games and puzzles. Rack-o and Sorry were our favorites! We used the wood burning fire place every night. This place is great for kids and is pet friendly. We plan on returning next year! Thanks for the great stay!
Very nice accommodations. Lake beautiful. House has fireplace as well. Lots of outdoor setting as well. Dock is wonderful as well.
What a perfectly quintessential Up North lake cottage -- a gorgeous spot on a peaceful lake and a great mix of classic 50s nostalgia sprinkled with modern comforts. We left rested and rescharged after a couple of days of slowing the world down at this sweet little spot.
Enjoyed fishing, kayaking, swimming off the dock. All three kids slept comfortably in the bunk bedroom. My daughters were delighted with the pink bathroom! The large windows gave wonderful views overlooking the lake. Furniture was comfortable with many seating options in the house and on the property. We took a day to visit sleeping bear dunes (only a 30 minute drive) but otherwise stayed at the house and enjoyed the lake. I was very satisfied with the comfort and cleanliness during our stay.
This was a great property. Lake was beautiful. Enjoyed kayaking and taking in the peaceful beauty.
Truly what the title says! Looked the kayaks!
If you are looking for a relaxing getaway - Look no further. Bass Lake provided a peaceful setting, swimmable lake, kayaking and more.
Sun, sand, starry skies and peaceful waters...ahhh. We relaxed and recharged from a hectic city summer every minute of our three-day stay here. Loved the retro feel and modern amenities of this comfortable, cozy, well-stocked and quiet home. Host was communicative and we appreciated the notes about nearby restaurants and attractions. Thank you for helping us make some great memories!
We had a wonderful stay at this cottage on Bass Lake. The cottage was clean and had a great sandy beachfront. We enjoyed using the rowboat and the raft. It was nice to have a cottage that would allow two dogs. They both had a great time playing fetch in the water. I would highly recommend renting this home if visiting the Interlochen area.
What a wonderful day children were born up there and I wanted to bring them back where they were born and what a perfect cabin a perfect it like to stay on. We all had a wonderful time. We will definitely be back. Thank you so much. It was so wonderful.
A great stay for the family to just relax and spend quality time together by the lake. We really enjoyed everything about this place!
It was very nice. Enjoyed our stay.
Lovely little mid century modern cottage, so serene!
Cozy Cottage with plenty of outdoor activities and places to take in the view on a quiet lake. Lived-in older home with newer bedding and towels. Perfect if you want peace and quiet but still be close to trails, lakes and Traverse city. Bathrooms are a bit awkward and maybe difficult if you have multiple families that need privacy. Dogs welcome. Bring your own water for drinking if you don’t like well water but otherwise kitchen is well stocked with cooking supplies. Responsive host.
Great weekend with the family. Comfortable, cute house on a beautiful lake
This cottage was absolutely beautiful. The dock and view of the lake were perfect. We had fires each night, fished and explored during the day. The only complaint was that the breezeway doors were both broken. It made coming in and out quite irritating and the fact we couldn’t open them for a cross breeze stunk. We definitely hope to be back again.
We (6 adult woman) stayed for a quick 2 nights (should’ve planned for longer) for a Friday night concert at Interlochen. Had an excellent dinner at near by Oaky’s and enjoyed the MCM vibe of this cozy cottage. Clean and well equipped. The lake is literally steps away and a great place to spend the day. We floated, swam and kayaked during the day and had clear skies for a fire at night and truly enjoyed the peace and quiet. The only complaint we could say is there were numerous spiders in the house, however you are in the woods. Also, the egg smell from the well water is quite unappealing but is what it is so make sure to bring drinking water. A+ was the consensus. We all would return to this beautiful spot in Northern MI
Perfect getaway for the family. The house on the lake was perfect to keep the kids busy and to allow family time. We loved swimming, fishing, kayaking, row boating, family cornhole tourneys, bonfires. So relaxing and just what we needed. The owners were beyond helpful and made us feel right at home. They were so kind to get their place ready quickly for our last minute trip and were very quick to respond if we had questions. We would definitely rent from them again!
This place is gorgeous and close to so many activities. You really don’t need to go anywhere though because the lake is right there! Very private too
this is a cute property on a peaceful lake. the cabin is decorated in a 50s style, which is a plus for its character - no problems with that. the beds are comfortable and the kitchen and bathrooms sufficient. the only negative is the stained and ratty looking carpet. other than that this is a nice, simple-living cabin.
Nice family vacation
The place was great for a getaway. The lake is very peaceful.
Relaxing and so much to do. Beautiful lake, with kayak, and a firepit. Perfect way to decompress from the stress of day to day life.
I would recommend staying at Leaning Pine 10/10 times. The house is so charming, exactly as described. The lake is right out back, and there’s plenty of room in the home itself for sleeping, relaxing, etc. We stayed with 5 guests and it was a very enjoyable stay. They have everything you need. We will definitely be back!
