An excellent weeks break on the Ile De Re

A fabulous two week stay in this spacious house right by the beach. Just a short, sandy private footpath separating the house from the beach. Oh and what a beach it is! One of the most beautiful I’ve been on. The many bicycles in the property were a great advantage for popping into the local town of Bois Plage, or nearby towns La Couarde and St Martin de Re. We found the house to be very well equipped, and the beds comfortable. This property is quite a find, we hope to be back again one day. Thank you Stephane for the warm welcome!

This welcoming home is just a short walk from the best beach on the island. It's also just a few minutes cycle ride away from the village of Le Bois Plage and all the great amenities to be found there. Apart from the boulangerie, the Carrefour store, bike hire shops, a local branch of the famous ice-cream parlour La Martiniere, etc. , there is also a covered market that surpassed our expectations. I was delighted to find Le Potager at the market selling local organically grown veg! Stephane, the property owner, made us feel very welcome from the point we booked the property nearly a year before our stay, until our departure. Although my friend and I hired electric bikes for 3 days for the longer cycle rides around the island, our husbands found the bikes Stephane provided to be more than adequate for our 40km to 60km round trips. Bike locks and baskets were provided, but for safety, we used our own helmets and bike lights. We had the most magical time on the island mainly because this holiday home was so well-equipped and comfortable. Finally, with my limited knowledge of the french language: Stéphane, c'était absolument parfait pour nous! Merci beaucoup de partager votre magnifique maison!

The property made a very positive impression at first sight and this was confirmed when we entered it. A very large living area with plenty of space for a young child to play and for adults to eat and relax. The outside area is large and we loved sitting under the veranda and admiring the pine trees. The short walk to the beach was ideal and the marché and the excellent boulangerie were not much further away. It was a very hot week so we got into the habit of visiting the beach in the morning and the evening and retiring into the relative coolness of the house in the afternoon. The three double bedrooms and two shower rooms were perfect for us: two couples and a child aged two and a half. We all agreed that one week was not enough and we hope to return next year.

We deeply enjoyed every minute of our stay in this warm and cozy house which immediately became a home away from home. We came her to spend the Christmas/New Year holidyas with our family (in laws, our 11 year old daughter, and us: party of 5 total). We stayed for 11 nights in this really wonderfully charming, warm, and cozy home. The house is even better than on the pictures. It is just a few steps (less than 2 minutes by foot) from the beach using a small path through a garden and a sand dune. So wonderful! The house has everything you need, very well appointed, sufficient equipment for cooking and entertaining, more than enough cook ware and silver ware, plates and glasses. The interior is nicely decorated and very well appointed, high quality appliances, 2 refrigerators, oven, dish washer, washing mashine, gas stove top and electric oven. Being able to use the fireplace in the living room was a huge plus, made everything so much more cozy and warm. FOr summer vacations they have a very nice outside fire place for BBQ and grilling on a very nice patio. Spent very fun evenings playing games and talking by the fire place after a long walk at beach. The owner is extremely helpful and very responsive. The location is great, too. It is within walking distance to a very nice artisinal bakery, the local fresh produce farmers market and the fish market. Everything you need is right there including a well appointed super market. The rooms in the house are nice and big and each of the two bedrooms is directly adjacent to a bathroom. The upstairs has a loft with two single beds and a separate bed roomwitha queen size bed - this upstair arrangement is optimal for kids. In addition, the owner has provided 24 (!!) bicycles to choose from for all ages and flavors, including helmets, and an inflation pump to make sure your tires are well inflated before you embark on a fun bike ride to some near-by really beautiful little towns like St. Martin (20-30 minute bike ride). There is ample opportunity to park several cars inside and outside the property. The house is very easily accessible by car and in a very quiet and safe location. Optimal for families with kids. The sandy beach is beautiful and you can hear the ocean from the house, which is so nice. We have stayed at many different VRBOs across Europe and US and this house is definitely one of the very best and we will come back for sure!!!

We have been to Ile de Re many times over the years and this is our favourite area to stay on the island. Superb beach, lovely restaurants and daily market and shops in easy walking distance and very quiet in the evenings. Ideal for a relaxing holiday. The villa was easy to find with plenty of parking space and a large garage behind a lockable gate. There were many bicycles available to use (for all ages of children aswell as adult bikes) We did hire electric bikes for the day but these were ideal for a quick trip. Inside is well maintained and clean with a very well equiped kitchen. Beds were very comfortable and king size. I would recommend and would definately stay here again.

The house at Le Bois Plage is just as beautiful as it appears in the photos, it is well provisioned and well looked after. The availability of bicycles to use during our stay was an additional bonus and really allowed us to explore the island. The gardens are great as they gave so much space and room for the children to play and of course the beach is just nearby. The only thing I would say is that it was not clear from the description if bed linen and towels were provided or not and I had to ask a couple of times before it was clarified that we needed to bring our own. Otherwise everything was perfect and I thank Stephane for his communication and helpfulness with any questions. We'll definitely look at coming back again.
