The house was great, especially the porch! Good location
House is wonderful, rustic, spacious and comfortable summer cabin. We loved the porch. Plenty of room for the 6 of us. Great location - short walk to beach, restaurants, but off beaten path enough so it’s not crowded. We loved our stay and hope to return.
This was the perfect house for our weekend visiting Newport for a wedding! The property exceeded all expectations, especially the beautiful porch.
It was the perfect house for our crew. Nice morning walks on the beach and very close to everything. Loved it! Would definitely use it again!
Let me start with with the two positives of this house rental experience. First of all, Jim, the homeowner, was very polite and pleasant in all of my interactions with him. I think he means well-but has severely neglected his property for a long time. Also, the house does have a good location-it’s a very short walk to the beach, which was the biggest selling point of the property. However, that is where it ends. We planned to have a great weekend in Newport with some friends-however upon our arrival we found the house to be unlivable. This house has not been cleaned (I mean like a deep clean!) in a VERY long time. The layers of grime and dirt that caked the windows and doors was disgusting. The rugs and furniture were all stained. The entire house was damp and smelled musty. There was even mold on the shower curtains and a few of the comforters. Just gross. (and for $1000 per night?!!!) We had small children with us-including a crawling baby who we could not put down for fear of her touching anything!!! Not to mention the house is plain unsafe for small children—the stair railings and window sills do not meet code and a child could easily fall over them. Also there is no railing on the front porch just a large drop off. This property really has potential-but it honestly needs to be gutted. To top everything off-we had no hot water when we arrived and were forced to shower our sandy toddlers in freezing cold water because the plumber did but arrive until 9:30pm. I will say that Jim did his best to help us out on this—but it still added another layer to what was already a tough day. We were forced to stay the night because the babies were tired and all of the hotels were booked. But we decided to leave first thing in the AM and asked for a full refund. It really was a disappointment.
It's hard to put into words just how amazing this most recent HomeAway stay has been. Suzy and Jim did everything to make us feel very welcome even ahead of our arrival. They were so easy to connect with. The house itself is magical - the location couldn't be better. You're literally right on the beach and can hear the waves falling asleep. It's very special, we didn't want to leave at all. Thanks for a wonderful time. And you need to update the pictures on the add, they don't do the place justice :)
We had a great time staying at this house in Middletown. The house is large and very comfortably slept 10 people, and you can't beat the location right by the beach and a short Uber ride to downtown Newport.
The location and size of the house were wonderful. We had a few glitches but the owner was very accommodating. There was plenty of cooking utensils, flatware and dishes for the 11 of us. The front burner on the stove wasn't working, but we worked around that. Would surely rent this again.
We booked this house for a family weekend, and it worked out really well. First off, the owners were really helpful and answered every question via email promptly and completely - always a great start! The house is big so everybody in our group was able to have their own private space, and also enjoyed time together on the porches. The parking is ample and easy, the area is quiet, it's really close to the beach, a short walk to Flo's seafood, and just a mile from the Cliff Walk. The furnishings are not fancy, but the beds are comfy and the house was clean, and the yard and surrounding yards are very well maintained. The kitchen has everything you need if you want to cook in. We used the grill, and just enjoyed time together. It was a super weekend and we've talked about booking a weekend next year. Thank you!
We were there for a friends reunion and beach weekend and it couldn't have been better. The house could fit everyone with ease, rooms were big, clean , and comfy. The yard and wrap around porch were perfect for hanging out. The house was well stocked with everything we didn't even realize we needed. Even the neighbors were friendly and gave us extra chairs and let us borrow bocce ball. The proximity to the beach is what really sold it, it's less than a 5 minute walk away! It was a perfect weekend and we look forward to trying it again next year!
