Our stay was great! The house was exactly as advertised. The location into town was good. Little bit of a walk to get to the beach. The only thing I would change is the check in/out process. We are so used to renting a house with keyless entry. Having a key was very inconvenient. Especially, having a larger group and always making sure that someone had a way to get back in when they arrived home. Bringing a key to the beach was a nuisance as well. Definitely recommend to the owner to invest! We have rented with other realtors as well. Been going to Duck for over 20 years and this is the first realtor that didn’t allow us to hang out by the pool at the house while waiting to check in. We always were able to do that to beat the traffic and not having to go back out on that busy road to go get a key and physically check in at an office. Keyless entry, not having to physically go to realtor to check in/out and allowing guests to hang out by the pool until check in time. Other than those things our stay was perfect!
Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: A nice house. Good aircon which was essentialas it was brutally hot.Comfortable for up to 5 people, more would have been a squeeze.Only nit was literally no washing up liquid or salt or any basics so had to shop for everything. That’s a shame and a pain and could easily be dealt with fir bc a tiny amount of money
Rating Details: The property manager was adequately helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was more than happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Description provides the basics: enjoyed the pool, easy walking distance to town and not too far of a walk to the beach. The house is ok but definitely needs some work: TV system was not great, refrigerator was small and ice machine is limited, Dryer makes an awful sound when running - had to leave the house when we started it and the beds were ok for aleeping. House needs some love but didn’t spoil our time.
If i were to ever buy a home in the outer banks, (which my husband and i have been discussing!) this home would be the perfect home for me and my husband! The location was perfect. This was my first time (EVER!) visiting and staying in Duck or anywhere in the northern area of the outer banks. For the last 7 years, we have always rented a home down on the island either in the Waves/Salvo area or mostly near Buxton and Frisco. Although i love those areas and did make sure i spent a full day during this trip, down there at those beaches, Duck and the area surrounding it seem more convenient and so warm and inviting. If the owner ever considers selling this home or doing a long term rental, i would definitely be interested, especially the rental option for now. I have wanted to move to this area for years now but could never decide where exactly! This home was perfect. Just a little suggestion, the owners may want to invest in an exhaust fan above the stove because simply turning the stove and oven on causes the fire alarm to go off from the heat. And maybe one in each bathroom as they tend to get very steamed up when showering and takes a while to clear that as well. The dryer has a very high pitched squealing noise coming from it whenever it is used whether for a full sized load of laundry or just a few items. The bedroom across from the hallway bathroom has no TV in it and he may want to add one for those who like to watch tv in bed. The lot itself needs to be trimmed.
Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was very dirty. I was more than happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I had stayed at this house a couple years ago and was very pleased. We love the pool and the deer that come in the yard and the location. BUT, This stay was not as enjoyable. The house was not well cleaned with food crumbs all over the kitchen and the floors and toilets were very dirty. But the worst thing was the **** ROACH INFESTATION. The place crawls with huge roaches and baby roaches. They are active day and night but, When we got up to use the bathroom at night there were 10 or more running the floor crawling the walls and ceilings and setting everywhere in the kitchen too. I was very disappointed since I had returned to a place that we really enjoyed a couple years before. When I rented from the owner directly, this was not an issue.

The house is in a prime location right between the beach and duck. It’s 10 minutes to get to most all of duck shops and restaurants. It takes 5 to 8 minutes to walk to the beach. The house is a nice set up. The mattresses are a little old but they’re OK. It’s a nice house for being built in the late 80s.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house is the older style beach house and the owners have retained some of the charm (wood paneling, lots of vintage beachy decor) while updating the most used areas to today's standards. The house was clean and overall in great condition. The pool is fabulous and a real highlight! I would suggest a more comfortable mattress in the hall queen bedroom--it was very firm (some may like this but for us it was uncomfortable). The kitchen could use better lighting, and vent fans in the bathrooms and over the stove would be useful additions. The location is about 1/3 of a mile from the beach access, which was an easy walk. There is parking at the access so driving your beach gear down is possible. Walking to shops and restaurants was also easy, as was riding bikes around (and bikes were often faster than taking the car!). It's a quiet area and the surrounding trees make for nice morning shade. One note--if you are renting north of the 158/12 interchange you need to go to the Duck office to get your key. This is stated on page 3 of the rental agreement, but the address given at the very top of page 1 of the agreement is for the Kitty Hawk office. Don't be like me and put that address into your GPS or you'll waste a good hour (while I acknowledge my mistake, it would be great if the rental agreements for houses that use the Duck office had that address at the top). For first timers, traffic is HORRIBLE starting several miles before the bridge and then going north on 12, so I suggest coming into town really early and finding something to do until check in. We paid 175 dollars for early check in and while our ETA was 2 PM, we didn't get to the house until 5 pm, so that was wasted money. A special shoutout to Amanda, who was very responsive when I contacted her about a couple of very minor issues! She was a definite bright spot!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Sure this is an older, smaller house, but it’s in a good location, and the private pool offsets that and makes it a good choice for a small family like us. Only gave it a 2 for cleanliness because the bathrooms hadn’t been cleaned and the vacuum hadn’t been run and yes, we had to capture and expel a huge bug. Also the concrete surrounding the pool gets very hot, enough to burn your feet so either a cooler surface would be nice or else you have to be very careful so might not be great for little ones.
This was the perfect quiet location and a short walk to the beach and downtown area. We loved the pool and the big deck that wraps around the house. The living room was spacious and family friendly. It was perfect for our family of 5.
