Stayed Dec 21, 2025Beautiful property. House and grounds are clean and very well equipped. Caretaker is an amazing person. Only issue any of us had were the beds are old and worn. Otherwise it's a great place in a great location (quiet, yet close to everything the Fortuna area has to offer).

Stayed Jun 30, 2025We absolutely loved the home! We had a family reunion of 3 families (total of 8 adults and 7 kids ranging from age 5 to 21). Everyone loved the quiet and calm surroundings. We ate fresh papaya and drank fresh coconut water from nearby trees. We enjoyed finding avocado trees, banana trees, mango trees all around as well. The wildlife was amazing as well - birds, iguanas from a distance. On site there is a very friendly, beautiful white horse! The house itself offered convenient and clean bathrooms, perfect for large groups. The swimming pool and outdoor space to relax was also great! Martha, the lady who welcomed us, was so sweet and helpful for anything we needed. We cooked quite a bit and found everything we needed, including a pressure cooker! The only thing to keep in mind is that it is a little remote and takes about 30min drive to reach La Fortuna. We planned activities everyday and just met the company's transportation in the town.

Stayed May 25, 2025This place is amazing! The grounds are secluded, beautiful, and well maintained. The outdoor area was a great place to relax and enjoy our time as a group of 13 adults. We enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this location for families and large groups.

Stayed Feb 16, 2025I stayed at the Casa Descanso with a group of eleven friends, and it is truly a beautiful place. We loved the outdoor spaces, the ambiance, the pool, and Marta, the incredibly helpful and warm housekeeper. The interior of the house is fully equipped, the upstairs bathrooms are a little dorm-y but sufficient, but the overall location and charm of this place was amazing. The pictures don't fully describe how lovely it was. Marta was super helpful; despite my lame Spanish, she was able to get us a reservation to a restaurant that we couldn't get in touch with, helped our friends book a last minute river float, and brought us fresh eggs and bananas in the morning. We missed this place after we moved on. I highly recommend it.

Stayed Nov 28, 2024Here are the highlights I thought I'd call out: -There are tons of fun things to do at the house like ping pong, pool, the swimming pool, games, exploring the property, the animals, etc. -Other reviews mentioned the road. We found the drive to be very easy. It's about 5 minutes on a dirt/gravel road. We were there in monsoon season and it rained every day but the roads were great. -The bathroom is also mentioned in other reviews. The main bathroom on the second floor is definitely dorm like but it was not a problem in the least for our group of 12 with 4 different families. It's definitely not luxurious but it gets the job done! -The host instantly responded to communications everytime we reached out. He has a local person that lives in a separate house on the property who is available for any issues too. She only speaks Spanish but we used Google Translate to communicate with no issue.

Stayed Jun 15, 2024This property had everything we could want and more. To start, the property is massive with a soccer field, pool, a sweet horse, foosball, ping-pong, pool table, fruit trees, and a river running alongside the house. There are tons of beds to accommodate a lot of people. Each room had its own AC and was very comfortable. We felt very fortunate enough to receive coconuts, avocados, and other fruits from the trees. The property manager and staff are very attentive to anything you need. The only complaints I have was the kitchen was a bit disorganized and didn't have a lot of the items we needed. The property manager was quick to buy things to supplement. The other complaint, which really wasn't that big of a deal, was the bathroom is set up more like a dorm. There are two showers and two bathrooms in one area with a two person sink. We are family of nine and we made it work. Sitting on the covered patio, watching the rainstorms was magical. It was only a 30 minute drive to all the activities in La Fortuna. We would definitely stay there again!

Stayed Mar 4, 2024Great place for large group. Isabelle is the housekeeper and so super nice. We had her join our group for dinner one night. The house is layed out great. We also seen a lot of wildlife on the property, birds iguanas, lizards, etc. Main town is about 20 minutes away, very touristy, but lots of nice cafes and places to eat. Would definitely stay here again.

Stayed Jan 31, 2024Was a great place for large groups. Was rather warm two of the 7 days we were there. The air conditioners in the bed rooms worked great. One of the two showers upstairs was not working. It only had cold water. There were two other showers working. The pool was great. Did not see any sloths on the property but saw many Iguanas and beautiful birds. The road into the property was rather rough but so were many other roads in Costa Rica. The lady (wish I could spell her name) on the property was wonderful. She did not speak English and we spoke very limited Spanish but we communicated through iPhone. She was extremely helpful and very friendly.
