Little Compton, Rhode Island
This is a great family house, with extensive lawn space for croquet and other outdoor games. The garden and terrace are lovely for both daytime and evening gatherings. The proximity to Tappens Beach and harbor makes it especially attractive and markedly reduces dependency on a car. This is a great vacation house for a large family, especially safe for children as it is set back from the road, with expansive lawns and space to run and play.
We had a delightful stay.
Unlike many vacation rental homes, this house has the owner family’s own personal furnishings and belongings, including many wonderful and interesting books, framed maps, art work, etc that can make visitors feel that they are staying in a friend’s home rather than a space that has been homogenized for renters. Some renters may prefer more contemporary amenities, but we loved everything about this house, its location near the bay and Sakonnet Point, wildlife (rabbits, minks, and many cardinals and redwing blackbirds in song) and other points in Little Compton. A family that is unfussy and that appreciates tradition will enjoy staying in this historical and very comfortable and welcoming home. Perky, who helps manage the property, and Mike, the handyman, were very helpful and gracious and took care of some minor maintenance issues immediately. The gardens are beautiful.
The house is amazing. It is beautiful and has so much character. The garden is so lovely.
Our family has enjoyed our stays for the last two years in this wonderful, somewhat rustic, large summer house. The house has all the basic accomodations, furnishings, and equipment for an enjoyable stay for a large family, plus two wonderful porches, patio, and large yard. The location is a plus being close to Sakonnet Harbor and walking distance to private beach. Local rental management is very responsive. Cellphone and internet access is provided, but it is problematic in this part of Little Compton. Otherwise, a delightful rental.
This large, multi-storied (three) house and its location was perfect for our family. It held 7 people easily with lots of room to spread out inside and out that included a great view from the front porch. Bathrooms were plentiful and worked well; kitchen had appliances that worked fine with a couple you need instructions/help figuring out how to make them work. Well stocked with plenty of dishware and cooking/eating utensils. Washer/dryer worked well with plenty of towels, linens, etc. All the beds were comfortable. No A/C, but this was fine for our family and fans worked well the few times it was hot. Internet is spotty within the house and maybe should consider relocating within the house. Cell phone connections can be difficult throughout the Little Compton area and not limited to this delightful location. Support from the local real estate manager is responsive, attentive, and helpful. We very much hope to return.
