The place was great. The weather was disappointing.
The property was perfect for our 2 families with 3 children ages 3.5-5.5 and 2 dogs. It was very private, almost no other people around, minimal car traffic so we felt safe about children running around. There is nobody living in the nearby buildings that you can see on the pictures. We were swimming in a lake and when it was raining the kids had fun playing in the game room. If you need quiet and no neighbors this is a perfect place. The owners live nearby so you can always reach them when you need anything.
This place with its location on the lake allowed for a cool and relaxing week. We enjoyed the ability to get right into the lake right from the house and the use of the kayaks. The enclosed porch facing the lake was our go to place inside. What a beautiful drive into the place also and our hosts Cophelia and Richard were great. Loved the whole trip.
The property was very private with the owners living a short distance away. The owners were great hosts and very responsive to requests. The property was great for disconnecting from the daily grind. There were multiple kayaks for use on the water. Utica is only 30 minutes away for any shopping needs.
Spectacular, amazing, relaxing, adventurous, perfect...just what we needed and then some. I don't have enough adjectives to describe our experience! The hosts, Cophelia and Richard, were amazing. They met us there, gave us a tour, answered any and all questions, then left us to enjoy the property. The pictures do not do the property justice. It was plenty spacious for our group of 7 adults aged 29-94, and our fur babies. We are foodies and planned to do some serious cooking. We do bring along some equipment because we have never found a place that fully provides for our level of cottage cooking. Cophelia and Richard told us to call if we needed anything. We did ask for a couple things, and they immediately helped us out. They went above and beyond to make our stay extra pleasant. The first night was way chillier than usual, and they provided us with everything we needed to enjoy the space (extra blankets, space heaters and firewood). We were so happy to make use of the double fireplace...so charming! The game room next door was well equipped and convenient. We played badminton on the volleyball court and ping pong inside. We enjoyed the canoe, kayak, fire pit, indoor fire places, huge porch, waterfront, and outdoor seating areas. We took many walks around the property and the waterfront. There is a great winery nearby, and of course we did some hiking around the area: although, it was hard to leave the property!! We highly recommend this property.
Our family of 6 (2 adults, 2 teens, 2 dogs) truly enjoyed our stay at this amazing property! If you are looking for a peaceful, quiet, secluded cabin in the woods with amazing lake views and access, look no further! Cophelia & Richard were outstanding hosts. Throughout the booking process, they promptly and kindly answered all questions. During our stay, they were available as needed, yet unobtrusive. Cophelia gave us a walking tour of the expansive family grounds, including its prior history as a (long ago) rod and gun club and (more recently but not currently) camp. The cabin was quite comfortable; beautiful architecture, amazing lake views, breezes from all living areas. With 5 bedrooms and 3 full baths, we had plenty of space. We brought groceries in advance to prepare all meals - the kitchen was very well equipped for our needs, and Cophelia emphasized to contact her if there was anything else we needed (we didn't!). The fireplace was beautiful; it was not cool enough during our stay, but we used the outdoor firepit and made beach bonfires. The cabin is just steps away from the lake, whose water level was relatively low at the time, so there was an extensive private sandy beach where we sunned, swam, and launched the provided kayak and canoe. Most days, we had the lake to ourselves - hours went by with only an occasional kayaker, paddle boarder, or motor boater. Our biggest decision was where to have our morning cup of coffee or evening glass of wine (Porch overlooking the lake? Lawn chairs looking up at the sky or stars? Adirondack chairs on the deck? The beach?) Likewise, we had our choice for family meals (great room farm table, screened in porch, picnic table next to gas grill). We had a few rainy days, but the sound and smell of rain in the woods is relaxing, and Cophelia made sure we knew about nearby activities. There is a game room in the building adjacent the cabin (with ping pong table, board games, sports equipment) where we had a memorable rainy family night (you may notice a few adjacent buildings in the photos, but these are not occupied). So many additional touches - clothes line, fishing rods, folding chairs for the beach/fire pit/bonfire, inflatables for the beach. And, they were very dog friendly. For everyone's safety, we appreciated that leashes were required for all dogs (including their own) other than on the beach, where our dogs had a blast running and playing. We truly had a wonderful time at this special place!
