Fishing:
Lewis and Clark Lake offers more than 33,000 acres of water for fishing and water sports. The lake features 30 miles of narrow, wooded shoreline and measures 45 feet deep at Gavins Point Dam. The lake is noted for its tournament-quality small-mouth and large-mouth bass fishery in the upper reaches of the lake near Springfield, South Dakota, and Niobrara, Nebraska. This area is a winding maze of cattails and weed beds that hold large numbers of bass.
Anglers will discover other species including walleye, sauger, northern pike, white bass, perch and keeper-size channel catfish. There is also an excellent opportunity for freshwater drums and good populations of bluegill and crappie in the upper reservoir.
Fisherman can try shoreline fishing from one of the accessible fishing docks, or rent a fishing boat from the marina.
Boating:
Boaters can utilize nearby Weigand Marina to launch their boat or one of several other launch locations. Boat slips are also available at the marina and boaters are welcome to tie their boats up to the shoreline , but are warned of unexpected storms that may quickly form and cause damage to their vessels on the unprotected shoreline. Safety patrol will be operating on the lake. Be sure your boat is properly numbered and has all required safety equipment and lighting for your size of boat. Be familiar with different buoys and what they indicate. Owners of motorboats propelled by a motor of more than 6 HP may not allow youths under 12 years of age to operate the boat unless accompanied by a person at least 18 years old.
Boat operators, when operating at greater than no-wake speed, are required to ensure that each child on board under seven years of age is wearing a Coast Guard approved life jacket unless the child is within a cabin or below deck.
Hunting:
The area has excellent waterfowl hunting, in addition to pheasant and turkey populations. Big game hunters will find an excellent white-tailed deer population around the area.

We had a great stay at this property. The downstairs kitchen was really large and accommodated a large group comfortably. Communication from the property manager was excellent and the location is awesome!
Had a great time catching up, laughing, eating and playing pinnacle! The weather had gotten cold so when we couldn’t figure out the HVAC the owner responded very quickly and was able to keep us warm!
The towels in the master look and feel like Motel 6 towels. If someone is willing to pay $500+ a night, they deserve decent towels. There were 5 garbage bags for 19 ppl for 3 days! Why would you skimp on that? A deck bench had apparently been painted lately and 3 different ppl ruined tops or swim suits leaning back on it. The path to the beach is treacherous, especially carrying coolers and items. Not very safe. I did not receive the info telling me what items I’d need to bring prior to me approval. Therefore we needed to return to Yankton for like salt & pepper. We’d just stayed at a VRBO two weeks ago in Harpers Ferry and it was so exceptionally well stocked I didn’t think to bring items on your list. Nothing wrong with me supplying my own, I just didn’t receive the list in advance. In spit of the ants and hundreds of flies, we had a wonderful time with our family as we always do. Our neighbors were very pleasant. Deck was awesome and fire pit was fabulous. A seat at the pit had a leg that was about to break also.
Nice area
Great location and tons of space for family! We had age ranges from 2 to 60 and we all enjoyed our time. Walkable beach was great for kiddos and the marina was close for boats!
Everything was great about it! Absolutely no complaints!
Lots of room for our large group. Loved the outdoor area, fire pit, deck and even the swing set. We definitely would stay here again
Everything went smooth and the house is great for large families like ours. Big yard and beach access was a lot of fun. Thank you!
We stayed 4 nights at this property and everything was as described. The home is nice, the back yard is great, the beach was a lot of fun. One thing that would make it better is a dock to attach your boat to. The dock was off limits. Getting to the beach is not for the faint at heart but once there it’s fun. One thing to inform travelers is to bring your own seasonings, of any kind, including salt and pepper, vanilla, KLEENEX, … we have stayed at many VRBOs and there are usually Kleenex in the house. We had to use toilet paper and I felt Kleenex should have been included in the nightly fee. None of this would stop us from renting again. Many memories made and weather was perfect!
great place with lots of beds, beautiful views, clean, and kind host.
The house was everything the listing said it was. The beach was not sandy, the power and water went out twice during the day which put a damper in the day so we just left for the day. Otherwise great place!
This was my first experience with Vrbo. Over all the whole process was pretty simple. In addition to the contract, we received documents weeks in advance so we were prepared/expectations were clear with cleaning, property care, entry, ect... We stayed for two nights-13 people the first night,17 the second for a milestone birthday. Plenty of space for everyone. Beautiful house, fire pit area, and even better view. Don't let the size from the front fool you, it is a lot bigger than it looks from the road. In my opinion, most of the beds were on the very firm/hard side (Except top bunks and master...note: I slept in the king master, it was was VERY soft). It had just rained the day we arrived so the path down to the beach area was a little slick but we had no issues locating and made it there and back unscathed (just watch your step).
Need to add a handicap (tall) toilet in the upstairs master bathroom. Towels were super scratchy - new towels or start adding some softner to the wash/dryer.
Had a great time with plenty of room for everyone. The beach and water was great. The house itself was wonderful.
Location was perfect and the home was very nice and clean
