Lakefront Property with Spectacular Waterfront View

We have rented VRBOs in the US and Europe and own rental property. I wanted to love this place for our summer vacation week with my adult children. It boasted a beautiful outdoor area on a quaint lake. However, the property fell short of the standards we’ve experienced with other rentals. There were multiple cameras inside/outside that we were told to cover with paper bags for privacy (audio?). The listing stated mattresses were new, but the beds sunk in the middle and were uncomfortable. The futon in the loft was uncomfortable and loft was hot without proper ventilation. The water heater stopped working the 2nd day. As the July days were hot and humid and the house unairconditioned, we decided to shower before bedtime and realized that the water heater was not working. The owner sent out a plumber early the next morning who reset the unit and it worked for a short time. We contacted the owner again and she sent a handy man that came in the afternoon, but was unable to fix the unit. We were told a plumber would be back the next day. Faced with the prospect of having to take more cold showers with unknown repair time, we decided to leave on the 3rd day of our 6 day reservation. Ultimately the water heater was repaired over 36 hours after it first stopped working. We requested a refund for the last 3 days we did not stay. The owner would only refund 1 day – their position being the heater was working the following day (ignoring the fact the issue lasted nearly two days)

The lake was amazing and it was great having access to multiple boats. The house is a bit dated and the beds ver uncomfortable. It is also ver close to a main road with no good places to walk or ride bikes around the lake. But it was a very nice trip.

Excellent hosts, property is as advertised. Very clean, plenty of space for our family of 5. Convenient location. Lake is very quiet. Bring noodles for swimming to experience it best as the hosts suggested. Water is shallow which was great for us with a little one. As you go out further the sand can get soft and sinky. Perfect for kayaking, great beach area with large yard area too! Loved our trip!

This is a beautiful home on peaceful Duncan Lake with a large private beach. Owners are lovely and most helpful. Beautiful town with all the essentials nearby. Lovely stay this summer! Thank you!

Our week really could not have been any more perfect! The home was nice and clean and welcoming. The lake was perfect for all water activities. The weather cooperated with the exception of one day and we took full advantage of that and headed into North Conway for some shopping and sight-seeing. Overall, we had a fantastic time and thoroughly recommend this vacation home to anyone who is looking for a place to unwind and relax!

This was a seamless process to rent a perfect lakefront rental. Duncan Lake is heaven!

I have on suggestion concerning the in law. That a window air conditioner be installed. After all day windows being open we had to buy two window fans to keep the heat down. Other than that we had a great time and loved all of it.

Planning and arrival: prompt communication, easy to work with. Great attention to detail. Smooth day of arrival including troubleshooting The cottage: beautiful setting, very private with quiet family next door. Lovely lawn overlooking our bay with incredible transition to beach. Nice entry room with excellent storage of beach related stuff available. Good place to dry towels! Kitchen adequate and basics fine. Some missing essentials like cheese grater, heat tolerant stirring spoon and few saucepan options. General kitchen grade B-. Living room very comfortable. Essential ceiling fan. Reading illumination mediocre. Dining room very nice. Master bedroom nice with great view of the beach but bed/mattress requires upgrade. Second bedroom also nice with same bed/mattress issue. Mid August is a bit warm/humid 24 hours a day despite multiple fans. We had a very nice time with our good friends here. I enjoyed the kayak and paddleboard very much. The water was great for swimming at close to 80 degrees. The water's edge has some vegetation breakdown matter that can be avoided.

I LOVED staying at this house! It's right on the lake, with gorgeous views, and minutes from a super market and other stores. The view of the lake is beautiful from inside the house, which has great sized-rooms and lots of space. My stay was so relaxing and enjoyable. The owners were extremely helpful and accommodating! Would definitely recommend!
