Great place to disconnect from the DMV

Beautiful, very clean and well stocked house. The bear details everywhere (decorations, outdoor wood pieces, even children bear themed books!) were such a nice touch! Really appreciated cabinets in the kitchen being labeled to find everything, and the game room was a hit. While this may not apply to every stay, everything we needed was there- trash bags, cleaner, paper towels, laundry pods, dish soap, dishwasher pods, coffee, spices, and even tea!10/10 recommend and we WILL be back

Lakefront Paradise was the perfect location for our family vacation. The home is well-equipped with everything you need and it's a great set-up for a large family or two small families. We spent much of our time outside on the dock and in the water. The area off the dock is calm and shallow, so great for small children. We rented a jet ski and were able to explore a lot of the lake, and then tie it to the dock. James was a wonderful, responsive host as well! Thank you for providing a beautiful home!!

This home and location at SML was like a hidden gem waiting to be discovered. Perfect for families who like to be on the water. We rented a motorboat for a local marina and came and went as desired from our own private boat dock at the house. We loved the whole stay!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Since our stay fell during the winter and the lake was frozen, I can't speak for the use of the outdoor spaces. However, there was plenty to do inside! The property has a game room which we took full advantage of. The home is well-equipped and very spacious. Loved the layout too. Very clean and a fairly quiet setting. We would definitely stay here again.

Our family and 2 dogs had a great 4 day stay at James’ property. Extremely clean and well appointed. The kitchen was the best stocked VRBO kitchen we’ve ever seen. You could easily prepare all your meals at home with a lot of variety. The game room was a great way to spend the chillier evenings and dipping into the hot tub was perfect for unwinding. The neighborhood is beautiful and quiet and great for walking the dogs and getting exercise. Although we stayed in the winter months , we could easily see how fun the back yard would be with ping pong, horseshoes, hammocks, firepit and multiple places to gather and enjoy the water etc. We highly recommend this home!

Just a well appointed lakefront VRBO that provided tons of opportunities to recreate.

The lodge was as impressive as it’s posted pictures. The game room was great as it gave us a fun refuge from a rainy day. It s a beautiful and comfortable home with enough living and outdoor space for a large family. And the communication with the host,James,was great.

Really large nice cabin in a perfect location on Smith Mountain Lake. The house was a good size with plenty of room. Game room was so much fun. We had a great time playing every night. Hot tub nice. Dock was great for fishing, swimming, paddle boarding, and canoeing. We had a very relaxing vacation.

We had an enjoyable and relaxing stay at the Sleeping Bear Lodge. We had beautiful weather and spent most of our time outside (canoeing, swimming, fishing, bird watching, enjoying the fire pit and hot tub, etc.), but even if the weather isn't perfect, there is plenty to do inside the house, which makes it an ideal rental location that we highly recommend. Great communication. Clean and comfortable.

This booking took a turn for the bad when I seen the weather change, i reached out to james about changing booking dates for due to it and he said sure ill check availability. So i thought great my daughter's 10th birthday isnt ruined. He then responded the next weekend wasn't available... i had said no problem just book us for whatever weekend was next available and he responded immediately that its too late to chanfe after he just said it wasn't a problem. To make matters worse our family tested positive for covid days before the trip with documentation and he would rather make money and chance giving the next family covid an responded he will make sure its cleaned properly. This was a stunning beautifully well kept lake house though but horrible business practice.
