The host canceled our reservation less than 12 hours before check-in, around 7 a.m., while my family and I were already at the airport boarding our flight. The management company was apologetic but provided no solution and no backup option. I spent the entire flight anxious and angry, not knowing where we would stay.We were later told the owner feared we might throw a party because the rental was over New Year’s Eve. If that was a concern, the reservation should never have been accepted. Fortunately, the second family traveling with us had a later flight and spent a long time on the phone pleading with management and the owner, which ultimately allowed the stay to proceed.The home itself was nice but not particularly luxurious, comparable to other cabins we’ve stayed in. It clearly needed a deep cleaning, with visible dust buildup and dust balls floating through the house. The outdoor deck and furniture were moldy many outdoor and landscape lights were not working, and exterior maintenance was lacking.On colder days (below 40F), the house was hard to keep warm, and there was a noticeable air draft along the fireplace running several feet up the wall.Given the last-minute cancellation scare, lack of support, and condition of the property, I would not recommend this rental—especially for holiday or fly-in travelers.

The house was fantastic. Plenty of room and one of the best views on the lake. It is also an easy walk down to the two story dock where we spent lots of time jumping and swimming off of. Highly recommend this property if you are looking to stay on Lake James.

We have been staying at this house for 3 years in a row and will continue to do so! We have such a great time and enjoy the house and lake very much, I’m booked for next year and so looking forward to another great vacation there!

This property is outstanding and truly well stocked. We loved that each bedroom had an adjacent bathroom, in addition to multiple communal restrooms. We spent most of our time on the covered patio when we were not on the boat. The dock was fun to jump off and swim around- we also enjoyed the provided paddle boards. Many properties require extensive steps to access the lake however this location was extremely easy to access the water. Communication with property management was always timely. I had many questions ahead of time and each was carefully answered. We saw deer every morning and afternoon which was always an exciting adventure. We would love to return to this property for another lake trip!

We had a wonderful time at Lake James. The house was great and an easy walk to the water which was great. Kitchen was well stocked and plenty of room. Bedrooms were large and comfortable. It was nice to have two living areas too.

the house is very accommodating for my whole family! we always love time in the mountains and enjoy swimming, boating and wave runners on the beautiful clean lake! always sad to leave but will definitely be back!

The week we spent at this property on Lake James will be one that our family remembers forever. The house is simply spectacular. Around every corner you will find a new and even more luxurious space to relax in. The outside, if possible, is even more breathtaking with stunning views of Lake James and the surrounding mountains. Directly across from the dock is an undeveloped island which just adds to the peacefulness. Our days were filled with waking up early to watch the sunrise, swimming and boating on pristine Lake James, exploring nearby Ashville and eating dinner and making s'mores around the fire pit. I have an 18 and 21 year-old and I was a little concerned that they might get a bit bored as the week went on but both of them said it was one of their favorite trips ever. We all left fully relaxed and excited to visit again. The management company was also extremely responsive to any questions we had. Highly recommend!

We really enjoyed our time at the Lake House. There was plenty of room for our party of 11, ranging in age from 5-72! The view was the best in the lake. There were plenty of water toys to keep us busy. Highly recommend!
