Tucked into a quiet, tree-lined cove on the western shore of Lake Norman, Jake's Lake House is the kind of place where a long weekend stretches into something memorable. Six bedrooms, 5.5 baths, room for fourteen — and a setting that feels worlds away from the everyday, even though Charlotte is less than half an hour down the road.

The drive in sets the tone. A peaceful road, manicured grounds, mature landscaping, and then the house itself: a Southern-style retreat with the lakeglinting just beyond. Inside, the main living area opens up under vaulted ceilings, with a generous sectional, a dining table built for full-group meals, and a breakfast nook that catches the morning light. The kitchen anchors it all — stainless appliances, a big central island, and enough counter space for a few cooks to work side by side. Wide windows pull the water view inside.

Sleeping arrangements are designed for multi-generational groups and friend trips alike. The main level holds the primary king suite — ensuite bath, private access to the wraparound deck, and an easy spot to slip outside with a morning coffee — plus a queen bedroom and a half bath for daytime use. Upstairs, you'll find another king ensuite and a queen ensuite for additional guests. Downstairs, a queen ensuite gives one couple their own quiet corner, while the bunk room (full-over-full) is the kids' headquarters. A half bath on the lower level rounds things out.

The lower level is where the group tends to land after dinner. A full-size pool table sits at the center of the room, framed by a deep sectional, a wall-mounted TV, and French doors that open straight to the backyard. An extra fridge keeps drinks and snacks close. Just off the game room, the garage has been outfitted with a ping pong table — a fun overflow space when the pool table is in use.

Outside, the property earns its keep. A wood-burning fire pit (firewood provided) takes center stage for evening gatherings, and a hot tub offers a quieter way to wind down. A lakeside gazebo sits in the backyard, ideal for shaded afternoons with a book or a long picnic lunch. From there, a wooden staircase leads down to the covered boat dock, which doubles as a private swimming platform — a safe spot for kids to splash while the adults stay close by. Bring your own boat or rent locally; the dock is stocked with a kayak, a paddleboard, and life jackets for everyone.

Denver itself is a quiet, lake-loving pocket of North Carolina that punches above its weight. You're a short drive from Smithstone Vineyards, Rural Hill's seasonal festivals, and the trails at Lake Norman State Park (just across the water in Troutman). Uptown Charlotte sits about 25 miles southeast for a day of museums, dining, or a Hornets game, and the airport is roughly the same distance — easy in, easy out for groups flying in from multiple cities.

By the time the sun drops behind the trees and the fire pit catches, you'll understand the appeal. Jake's Lake House isn't trying to be flashy — it's trying to give your group the kind of slow, full days that lake houses were made for.

This home has an interesting floor plan in that no rooms are square. Very pleasant and relaxing. We enjoyed some time on the large rear decks, which have several rockers. There are several steps outside, so my older sister just came in through a back ground floor door and used the interior steps.

Beds very comfy. AC worked well. (Last time we stayed there, not so much). Kitchen was well supplied with utensils, paper products, foil, sugar, tea. Lots of TP. Lovely, quiet location. Easy dock. Great deck furniture.Suggestions: Fix the brick walkway. Update the pavilion. Clean pavilion fridge. (It was ajar, with leaves inside, and running.) Pavilion was not swept. Garage mandoor was unlocked when we first arrived. Slippery tub in the basement. Only one towel, washcloth, and hand towel per person. Service men appeared out of the blue to spray the dock; we asked them to come another time.

First, it's a convenient rental in a nice quiet neighborhood. Close to grocery stores and other amenities. It generally worked ok for our multi-generational group. That said, it is a house that feels like it has been an investment rental for a while. Or maybe there was a house party in the house prior to our arrival and the cleaners just did their best in the time they had, but it seemed like the house needed a good clean/organization. The cement floors in the lower level felt like there was a slippery waxy buildup on them. Lightbulbs/batteries needed to be replaced. There are no rugs, which makes the lower level, especially unwelcoming. The kitchen was clearly labeled at some point, but we found things but we found things shoved in all kinds of random drawers with kitchen labels randomly around the house. We also had to re-wash half of the items we used prior to using them. The dirt/crumbs/wetness was so bad inside two of the utensil drawers that I washed the drawers and contents out myself. Finally, the listing states Kings/Queens the bunk beds. I don't think the lower level bed is a queen. It felt like a full, which was tight for the parents of 2 kids in the bunk beds.

I was extremely impressed with the cleanliness as well as the necessities stocked in the house. Kitchen was thoroughly stocked with pots, plates and silverware as well as trash bags and cleaning products. The kids loved the 2 paddle boards and 3 kayaks and spent lots of time out on the lake. It is a little steep to get up the front steps so it might be difficult for older people to navigate. I would 100% recommend this lake house and would definitely stay here again.

We had a great stay here with our family of 11. Plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms, a well appointed kitchen and eating areas. We wished the home had been more updated like the pictures had shown. The dock is in need of some repair, and the gazebo area was more rundown than expected. Overall we enjoyed our stay here, but would hope that updates are made.

Good spot on the Denver side of Lake Norman with plenty of space for a bigger group. Our group especially enjoyed the backyard area and cornhole boards. Would definitively book again and recommend to friends/family

The adults and kids loved the many amenities at this house. The two kayaks and two paddle boards were used daily. The tween boys had fun catching fist from the dock. The pool table, darts, corn hole, ping pong and other games kept us occupied indoors on two very hot days. A couple of small issues were handled quickly by the management team.
