Stayed Jul 26, 2025Our stay at this property fell far below expectations due to numerous issues. The most serious concern was rodent droppings in the lower kitchen cabinets which raised immediate health concerns. Additionally the overall condition of the property reflected a lack of care and upkeep: - Ceiling leak in the kitchen from upstairs bathroom - An uncovered floor vent in the dining area posed a safety concern - Uneven flooring throughout the home including cracks and chips in the lower level floor - Inaccessible ceiling fan pull chains leaving the fans unusable - Cockroaches and ants on the main floor - Electric outlets in the pergola did not work making that area uninviting during the evening - Disconnected dryer vent - Various building materials and other items were scattered around the unkempt yardWhile the property may appear attractive in the photos, the reality is very different. What is not pictured in the listing is a large, poorly constructed fence that blocks access to the lake and ruins the view from the back balcony. While the owner informed us of the fence and was responsive during our stay (including sending cleaners to address the rodent droppings in the kitchen) I would not recommend staying here.

Stayed Jun 27, 2025I'll start with the big negatives:1. The hot tub was out of commission and we were not told this. The listing advertises the hot tub, yet upon arrival it was uncovered and filled with about 6 inches of swamp water.2. The grills were out of commission. Again, these were advertised as amenities so extremely disappointing to not have them when we planned on using them.3. The AC was off upon arrival. The temperature inside was 90 degrees. Given how large the house is, it took about 6 hours to cool off.4. The grass was not mowed upon arrival. Someone came by and cut the grass when we were already there which was an inconvenience since we were already hanging out back. This should have been done before hand.Otherwise, the place was spacious and check-in/check-out was an easy process. It just needs more TLC and attention to detail.

Stayed May 23, 2025Thuan was such a great host - he made our stay very enjoyable and comfortable. He was great at communication and replying to all of our needs. The house was huge and very comfortable as well. If you are going with a group, it’s a good chance to play volleyball outside - overall its a great place. Highly highly recommend! Thank you!

Stayed Apr 3, 2025We stayed here for my bachelorette weekend. Everyone commented on how big the place was and it was very clean! The group loved the massage chairs! Even though we didn’t spend much time at the lake area, we found lots of other things to do in the house including pink pong, volleyball, and a fire pit! The place is very clearly a “new build” so there are some new construction quirks, but we enjoyed it. The kitchen was well stocked with basic items as well! This should not be a surprise to anyone since youre in a wooded lake area but expect some ants and bees around. We found the host to be very friendly and responsive. Would recommend this place to anyone looking for a fun getaway close to DC with a large group. Thanks for having us!

The Castle was perfect for our Family Celebration. Kitchen well stocked, spacious, functional. The place is very roomy, and quite elegant. It is a work in progress. Lots of toys great kayaks and fire pits. Downstairs is amazing-so much to do! Gorgeous setting at Lake Anna. Huge yard.

Stayed Aug 6, 2024Our group of 14 stayed at the house and loved it! The house is huge and pictures are very accurate. We own our own boat and it was no problem getting the boat into the water at the marina and anchoring at the house. The massage chairs were a huge hit and house has a dream basement! Plenty of floats and kayaks and a paddle board. We played volleyball and there are multiple fire pits. 2 full-size frig. And 2 sets washer and dryer. Plenty of linens and towels for everyone. We would definitely stay there again. Communication was easy with property manager.

Stayed Jun 27, 2024Our group had a great experience staying at this property. It was clean, had plenty of linens and blankets, and provided plenty of room to spread out and enjoy the property. The check in process was smooth and the checkout process was one of the best ones I’ve had staying at a VRBO. The owner was easy to get ahold of and communicate with and proactively communicated every step of the way. We enjoyed walking down to the lake (great sunset!). We were able to launch our boat at the nearby marina and then beach the boat directly behind the house during the day. We also enjoyed the kayaks and paddle board provided. Out back of the property, there was plenty of space to play yard games. We played volleyball on the provided net and brought cornhole, spike ball, and just some other balls to throw and kick around. Inside the house, the bedrooms were adequately equipped and the beds were comfortable. There was plenty of room for our group of 10 adults. We didn’t realize until we got there that there were 6 massage chairs in the living room. That was a really nice surprise. The bathrooms were also well equipped and worked well for us. We only did laundry once, but the house has two laundry rooms which would be great for a longer stay. The only thing the house was lacking in was lounging furniture. We couldn’t really spread out as an entire group in one area except on the deck (which was great!) We had a great time and plan to be back if we do this again. Thanks for having us!

Stayed Jun 8, 2024WE HAD THE PLEASURE OF STAYING AT THE CASTLE JUNE 8-JUNE 13. WHEN WE 1ST BOOKED THE PLACE WAS ALREADY BEAUTIFUL ENOUGH BUT IN THE 5 MONTHS THE OWNER HAD ADDED 3 DECKS AND EVEN GOT US A KEURIG MACHINE. WE TOOK OUR PONTOON BOAT DOWN AND ALTHOUGH THE OWNER HAS AN AGREEMENT WITH A MARINA @ 10 MIN AWAY WE DECIDED TO USE DUKES MARINA ASIT WAS ONLY $10 TO LAUNCH. WE WERE ABLE TO DOCK OUR PONTOON AT THE PROPERTY SO IT WAS WELL WORTH SAVING TIME AND GAS. THE DECK OFF THE MAIN LEVEL IS AWESOME. WE HUNG OUT THERE THE MOST. IT HAD A VERY NICE GAS FIRE PIT AND PLENTY OF SEATING. AT NIGHT WE ENTERTAINED OURSELVES DOWN STAIRS AT THE POKER TABLE, POOL TABLE (NON REGULATION), AND PING PONG AND ALSO HUNG OUT ON THE BACK PATIO. ONE OF MY GUEST HAD TO WORK AND THERE WAS A NICE DESK ON THE UPPER LEVEL THAT WAS PERFECT. WE HAD 3 COUPLES, 4INGLE PEOPLE AND 2 DOGS. THERE WAS PLENTY OF ROOM AND WE DID NOT FEEL WE WERE “ON TOP OF EACH OTHER”. THE HOST ALLOWED US TO CHECK IN EARLY. WE DID HAVE AN ISSUE WITH THE DISHWASHER SO WE HAD TO WASH DISHES FOR THE MOST PART BUT IT REALLY ENHANCED OUR TOGETHERNESS. SOMEONE COOKED, SOMEONE DID DISHES AND SOMEONE DRIED AND PUT AWAY. AGAIN IT WAS BIG ENOUGH TO WHERE IT WASN'T TO CROWDED TO HAVE 4 PEOPLE IN THE KITCHEN DOING SOMETHING. WE DID EXPERIENCE A WATER ISSUE WHERE WE LOST WATER. I TEXTED THE HOST @ 4PM AND HE HAD AN SERVICE TECH OUT AT 930 THE NEXT MORNING. WE REGAINED WATER WHILE THE TECHNICIAN WAS THERE AND WENT BACK TO ENJOYING OUR VACATION.
