Lake Michigan Vacation Rental w/ Private Beach!

No contact from property manager with check in details, wifi information. Zero response to advance questions about extending our stay. Exterior was filthy-could hardly see the beautiful view out the windows. No basic TV channels available. Interior was...okay, but overall the house looked haunted.

Kitchen was equipped however we did not cook anything. The fridge was full of food and condiments, the freezer was filthy and so was the fridge. Not what I would want to walk into when arriving at a rental house. The AC only worked in part of the house, many parts were very hot. There were bugs and flies all over the house, yes inside. There was no care given to the outside of the property, the driveway was covered in leaves and fruits, there were spiders all over the house with cobwebs covering the house. The toilet handle broke on the first morning, was not fixed until the next day - literally a 20 fix. The shower heads in the master, only one worked - There are no blinds, shades or anything in the master and there are a ton of windows. No privacy at all. There is a hole in the hardwood floor in one of the bedrooms straight to the basement. Two guest rooms had hairs in the sheets upon arrival. All and all it was a horrible stay. We were hoping this could be the house we brought our whole family to when we visit our kids, it's not. The location is perfect but the house needs some major TLC. Given the price we spent, this was NOT worth it at all. It was so bad that I was looking at other properties to move to while we were there. Unfortunately there were none available or I would have moved houses and been out a bunch of money but would have been clean. Yes I communicated all of this with the property manager and it really fell on deaf ears.

It worked well for our group of 30 year olds. Outside could definitely use some cleaning, the rooms themselves were clean with fresh linens.

We had a great family getaway, the location is beautiful, the lake is right there and we enjoyed kayaking and paddleboarding, even a little fishing! We enjoyed cooking breakfast and dinner everyday, the beds were comfortable. There was a small issue with the air conditioning, we were there during a little heat wave but we made it through! It is an older house and you can tell that in a few ways but overall we had an amazing time and will most likely be back next year!!

Property was not clean, appliances were dirty, fans didn't work, toilet paper holder was broke, mold and dirty windows, grass needed cutting, fire pit full of ashes, ect,ect,ect.

The house has charm and potential, but it’s not quite ready for guests. The primary bedroom had a broken sliding door patched with cardboard and paper towels—fully exposed to the outside. We had to improvise a fix. No mention of this from the owner. Furniture was sparse, and the shower only worked via the handheld wand. Most windows lacked curtains, screens, and there were no screen doors either. A floodlight from next door lit up the bedroom all night. One bed was just a mattress on the floor; another room had a birds nest between storm windows. A/C only worked in parts of the house—upstairs was hot. The yard was great: spacious, breezy, and perfect for fires. The beach was rocky but scenic. Kids loved the treehouse, though it felt a bit unsafe. Decks were in rough shape; we had to screw down boards. Kitchen was large but had fruit and drain flies. Plenty of cookware, some better than others. Overall, the house has space and character, but it needs serious maintenance and attention to detail.

Our family of 8 stayed over the weekend at this property. The house is bigger than it looks. There is many different spaces in this home. Not everything is perfect but that is the charm of this old farm house. If you plan to use the yard make sure that it is taken care of before you stay at the property. There are several great places to go less than 20 mins away. We enjoyed the say and this a great place for a large group.

This home has great potential with the lot and the lake front but that is where it stops. The home is NOT ready for renting. The air conditioner is small and most of the upstairs bedrooms and a downstairs bedroom are not air conditioned, although advertised as such. The smoke alarm battery compartments are hanging open and not sure they are even functioning. The outside and inside of the home need a thorough cleaning. The entire outside is dead insect crusted and porches and decks littered with cobwebs and debris. There are cobwebs inside and the refrigerator needs a good cleaning. Many of the outlets didn’t work and others were loose which gave us little confidence in the wiring. The threshold to the main deck was unfinished leaving sharp metal and wood exposed to step on. There was a third floor door to the roof that neither latched nor locked which was worrisome with 3 five year olds. There are serious issues that need to be addressed before renting.

First time on VRBO, but experienced renter. Positives: the view, the check-in process and owner communication all were as good as you could ask for. Needs work: General cleanliness - the blue chairs in around the kitchen table were stained to the point people avoided sitting in them. The exterior desperately needs a pressure wash. Master bedroom - great view and a recent update, but the bed literally broke when I sat on it and there is nothing else in the room - no end tables, no luggage racks. Everything you have will go on the floor. Details - the wi-fi password in the check-in instructions was wrong (case sensitive issue), the smoke detector in the living room appears non-functioning (battery door open and empty). The stove is awkwardly pulled away from the cabinets in a way that is clear it does not fit right. Controlling the temperature upstairs (except the master bedroom) is a challenge.
