Utuado, Utuado
Surrounded by nature in the peaceful mountains of Utuado, a town in the central region of Puerto Rico, you will find Casa Lago...In this neat and beautifully decorated Lake House, can sleep up to six (6) guests. It has two bedrooms with queen size beds, two full bathrooms, family room, all rooms with linens and towels. This two story wooden house has also a fully equipped kitchen. It also has a dining room, living room, and a large terrace with a hammock that will tempt you for a daily nap, or simply relax while enjoying a nice view of the Caonillas Lake. Most of the time we have a cool breeze weather, although, there are six ceiling fans in the house that will make it more comfortable for you, if needed.
In the lower level of the house there's another terrace and a laundry area with washer. In our large patio, there's a big gazebo with two half bathrooms and plenty of chairs and tables to gather your party and enjoy a charcoal BBQ; all under the shade of bamboo trees.
Begin your day with an aromatic coffee while the morning fog still covers the lake, or prepare a fresh fruit salad with bananas, papayas, mangoes, oranges or pineapples, among other fruits you'll find from vendors along the country roads. Since we are steps away from the lake, you can enjoy fishing from our private dock, kayaking and paddle boarding . For those who seek an adventure or like to exercise, mountain biking or an early jog are great choices to boost your day. To sparkle your evenings, we suggest a nice wine near the fire pit, while listening to the singing of the 'Coquis', an endemic tiny frog and cultural symbol of Puerto Rico. It just can't get any better!
This hidden little piece of heaven is a 1 hour and 30 minute drive from the San Juan International Airport.
While in the area, you can plan your visit to many tourist attractions known nearby, that will make your vacation a very exciting and special one. The Caguana Indigenous Ceremonial Park is one of the most popular attractions in Puerto Rico. Here, you will learn about our ancestors, the 'Tainos' indians. archeologist have uncoverd many artifacts, petroglyphs, monoliths, and stone-lined areas that show evidence of occupation which may date from the year 1000-1100ad, to the beginning of the 15TH century. This spirited and mystical museum-park is said to be one of the most important Taino-Culture archeological sites in the antilles today. The Batey Zipline Adventure Park, is another way to explore nature while experiencing a day full of adventure like hiking, rappelling, underground river caves or horseback ridding. Besides the Caonillas Lake, Utuado also features the Dos Bocas Lake. As you reach the main dock (embarcadero), you may choose a free scenic boat ride that will take you to the restaurants and enjoy the delicious puerto rican cuisin. Puerto Rico is also famous for its coffee, so we suggest a visit to Hacienda San Pedro, a coffee plantation in the nearby town of Jayuya. And of course, in Utuado you will find supermarkets, pharmacies, gas station, bakeries, banks and other business location for your convenience.
Once you book a rental in Casa Lago you will receive by e-mail a more complete information guide of "Things to Do" or places to visit including addresses, phone numbers and websites; as well as easy indications to follow, that will lead you as you drive all the way to the lake house. ( We are located on road #140, Km. 26.9, Caonillas, Utuado, PR).

*** ( Please note that the Use of life vests is required while kayaking). Most of our lakes, including the Caonillas Lake, are man made projects that are very deep and may have steep shores and rocks. Therefore, enjoying the lake will be at the guest's own risk and must sign a release and wear a life vest (we supply). Children must be under the supervision of an adult at all time. Since the lake has steep shores and rocks in the bottom, diving in to the lake is something we do not encourage our guest's to do, for their own safety!
Enjoyed stay, private and secluded location for those that don’t mind being in the mountainside away from crowds. Be prepared to drive through twists and turns to get to restaurants and local markets, can be very tricky, especially at night. You will need GPS wherever you go if not familiar with area. Entrance to VRBO should be more visible, missed it a few times because sign was not visible.(Need more lighting) Plenty of room for small group. I suggest you do some grocery shopping before going up there. All in all, a nice place to stay.
It was an amazing place. Its calming relaxing and you can reset from the cahotic life. The owner was amazing and caring. He was very attentive. I lived having coffee putside on the mornings. If course loved hearing the coqui at night. Follow his instruction to the address not GPS his are direct, GPS got us lost.
The property itself is good but the beds was a little too hard and uncomfortable to us is about 18 minute drive to town and the roads are rough but ain’t nothing that owner can do about that the fishing at the lake was great we had a lot of fun at the house playing darts/pool and grilling outside is a really quiet and peaceful place and the big hammock in the porch is a plus thank you for hosting us Pedro it was a great experience to our family
Loved this sweet escape and it was perfectly described as was on the listing. I loved the communication as well.
We all enjoyed the beautiful home nestled in the forest. Impressive views of the lake, and a fun tiki hut made it even more special. We'll come back!
This property was was everything I was hoping for: beautiful view, lovely house, gorgeous grounds. Also, there is so much more if you were looking for a place to entertain outdoors.
On a heritage trip with my mom, who is of Puerto Rican decent but never visited the island. Utuado area is where her grandma grew up & Pedro’s home made us totally feel at home! It’s a pure slice of heaven & a place I would absolutely love to stay at again! It’s a bigger home than we expected, the family room has a door on it, as well as an on-suite bathroom if you wanted someone to sleep there too. Plenty of space to cook, multiple kitchens indoor and out. Lots of things to do around the house: kayaks, yard games, etc. I absolutely loved the gazebo/boat house for hanging out. There was no wifi, but that was ok because we wanted to disconnect! Pedro kindly gave us access to his dad’s dock for the kayaks because the lake levels were low. Just an FYI to travelers of the Utuado area, we stayed mid-week and a lot of the restaurants I had wanted to check out were only open on the weekends, so if I go back, I’d love to stay longer through a weekend.
Property is wonderful. The home is beautiful but needs some maintenance. ( closet doors and downstairs bathroom door ) some patio furniture in bad condition.
Nice property very clean and well maintained. Very private. Great host. Always available if you have any doubts and concerns. If you want to get away from everything and relax around nature, with a beautiful lake as your backyard, this is the place. Nice lake just to enjoy the view, kayak or go fishing. We had a great time
Better than the site photos. And they were good too. Great place to retreat and relax. Awesome space. Beautiful.
