Austinmer, New South Wales
“Kilnockie on the Cliffs” is a tastefully restored 100-year-old cottage that boasts breath-taking views of the east coast. The cottage retains the warmth and character of the original family home, enriched by modern amenities and quality furnishings. The property can be enjoyed all seasons, with its northern aspect and gas log fireplace making the property a cozy abode during winter. Kilnockie is an idyllic property for guests seeking a warm and relaxing visit to Northern Illawarra region.
The property consists of a main house available for guests, and a detached private apartment intermittently occupied by the owners.
The cottage is perched on the edge of the cliff, with a spacious balcony that capitalises on the uninterrupted views of the ocean and the escarpment. The balcony opens out from an opened planned living, kitchen and dining space.
The beautifully appointed bedrooms have stunning views of the coast and escarpment.
Kilnockie is only minutes walk from gorgeous Austinmer and Thirroul beaches and rock pools, as well as local cafes, restaurants and boutique shops.
Beautiful surroundings, expertly furnished and the perfect place to Chillax.
My parents, maid of honour, and I stayed here in the lead up to my wedding. It is an absolutely gorgeous home with a warm atmosphere. The host was wonderful. I would love to come back one day.
There really is nothing nicer than listening to the waves crash at night. It was our second visit here and this time we brought along another couple. The accomodation is so tastefully done. What a gorgeous place, nestled in the hub of anything you might require...a well equipped kitchen, cafes, eateries, long walks, the beach, the view, the peaceful setting, on street free parking! Love it here!
My friends and I had a fantastic stay at Kilnockie on the Cliff overlooking Austinmer Beach during the Labour Day weekend. This property is simply beautiful and incredibly spacious. The best part was the deck/balcony with stunning ocean views. We enjoyed tea with sunrise and a wine (or two) with sunset while listening to the soothing waves below. It felt like a dream. Helen, our host, was friendly and always ready to help with our questions. The property was spotlessly clean and well-equipped, from comfy linen to a great kitchen and stylish bathrooms. One of the biggest perks is its proximity to the beach. We could easily take a quick dip in the ocean and return to the house within minutes. It made our beach getaway perfect. Kilnockie on the Cliff is a great place to stay if you want a beachside retreat with all the comforts of home. We highly recommend it and can’t wait to go back. It was an amazing experience!
Our second stay at Kilnockie, which is easily our favourite house on the coal coast. The view is simply stunning... uninterrupted, panoramic, up and down the coast. The house is beautifully renovated, but still keeps its original miner's cottage charm. Clean and well presented with quality linen and inclusions throughout (the iKou diffusers and toiletries, a lovely touch). Kitchen well stocked with plenty of staples. The house has a lovely open feel, but there is still space to spread out (the extra TV room, the second breakfast table are great). The owner is very courteous and easy to deal with. We'll be back!
Absolutely beautiful inside and out with everything you need to make your stay comfortable. The host was wonderful with a great balance of being helpful and supplying privacy. Would give more stars if I could. Thank you.
This is a beautiful, spacious, exceptionally appointed house with a stunning 180 degree view of the ocean from the edge of the cliff. Space to spread out, but also quiet corners to work or read. A short walk around the headland to Austinmer made ocean and pool swimming a treat. Helen was an available and helpful host. We especially loved the linen sheets.
We found this house had plenty of spaces for adults to enjoy quiet time alone and also sociable time together, rare for most holiday accommodation. Separate TV room, separate space with a table for games (great to have a meal without having to clear the jigsaw puzzle away from the dining table!), different eating areas inside and outside. Just wonderful. Beach just a five minute walk along the cliff path without having to cross any roads. We loved walking into Thirroul most days for shopping and sourdough. Kitchen spacious and well-equipped.
A lovely house positioned within walking distance to everything, with high quality linen, towels and a view to boot!
The house was absolutely amazing. It is decorated beautifully and the location is superb. The beds and linen were fabulous. We will be back.
We stayed for 3 nights so we could be close to our wedding at Austinmer. We also had a small wedding of just family so we could have everyone back at the house overlooking the ocean for our reception, then we could stay 2 more nights for our honeymoon. The house was large, open, with modern features retro-fitted to an historic cottage. It was glorious and all our guests loved it too. It is so high up and has absolute waterfront so only the sunrise, 180 degrees of ocean, and sound of the ocean greet you each morning from your bed. A stunning venue. We will come again. House was fantastic with great views and location suited us perfectly. Sitting on the deck with a drink and the waves with great weather was perfect. Would stay again.
We enjoyed the most beautiful beach front landscape, the house is clean and home away from home! It’s a pity the clouds hiding the Sunrise, we will be back soon to wait for the sunrise on the sea! Thanks again for Helen and Danny!Regards, Yan
Easy Hastle free stay, most enjoyable
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Kilnockie. The house is absolutely gorgeous and it definitely felt like a home away from home. The house is well stocked, everything we needed was there. The views were so amazing it was hard to leave the house. The owners were so friendly and very accommodating. I highly recommend this lovely cottage for a relaxed getaway and we hope to make it back one day.
No hesitation in recommending this lovely property which is probably better than it appears in the photo's. A very homely cottage feel with views that will never ever get boring. Different areas of the home provide space for everyone and the kitchen, unlike many I have visited, is very well supplied with all that you could need. Looking forward to our next visit!
This property is simply stunning. It looks beautiful in the pictures, but if anything it’s even more gorgeous in reality. The owners have thought of absolutely everything you could possibly need during your stay. The views are amazing. We stayed there when our daughter was getting married, and the photographer actually took selfies of himself on the decking! The weather was fantastic while we were there, but we’re planning on going back in winter too, and sitting by the gas log fire with a nice glass of red! We really couldn’t recommend staying in this beautiful house enough. Absolutely loved it.
We stayed here for 2 nights, wish it was longer! This home was spacious, clean and well cared for. Fantastic views, just a beautiful experience overall. Thank you to Kelly for accommodating our changing dates for our stay thanks to earlier Covid interruptions. You were a great and helpful host.
Exceeded our expectations absolutely beautiful property and location
Exceeded our expectations! A fantastic property, right on the cliff with panoramic views up and down the coal coast. The house had everything (plenty of plates, glasses, cutlery), it was clean and beautifully presented. If anything, the photos don't do it justice! We loved our stay and look forward to returning.
We loved everything about this property!
We are familiar with this area of the coast and felt rather chuffed to stay in “the Blue House”. The house was spacious, very comfortable and had everything we needed.
it's a great house (clean, everything you could want in it) and location, sadly the weather was not good.
