This great space has everything you'll need to start your perfect vacation!
I stayed here with my siblings, their spouses and our 13 children. This house was perfect-it was SO close to the beach…literally a 2 minute walk to the sand and another 3 minutes to get to the waterfront. The mudroom was perfect to dump all the towels, chairs, sand toys and keep the rest of the house clean. The dining area has 3 tables so plenty of space to sit and eat. Lots of bedrooms and bathrooms making it ideal for a large group so everyone had their own space. The neighborhood was cute, clean and safe.
This property is a 10 out of 10! The perfect property for a large family. Super clean and lots of room to spread out. Close to the lake. Would highly recommend!
Our family reunion brought together 14 adults (and one teen), who had a variety of needs and requests (1st floor bedrooms and baths; quiet, private corners; plenty of couches and large dining tables for hanging out and eating together, but also quiet, private corners). Everyone appreciated the quick walk to the uncrowded beach and the ample beach chairs and towels--and, on a day that turned dreary and rainy, lots of room to spread out comfortably for simultaneous board games and conversations. The host was graciously responsive to a couple of requests we had. Good A.C. overall and strong wifi, easy for everyone to connect to. We wished there had been a couple of beach umbrellas and, ideally (but we accepted as not possible on the lot) more outdoor space for our large group to gather outside. All in all, 117 Louisiana proved the best accommodation we've ever found for our family reunions, also for its convenient proximity to Chicago and airports.
This house was great! We had 18 in our group…8 adults and 10 grandchildren ranging from 1 to 16. Plenty of room for everyone. Plenty of beds. The beach is just a very convenient short walk to the beach and no steps!!! We absolutely loved our week and already have booked for next year. Cari, the property manager, was easy to work with and very attentive to our needs. If I could I would give it 10 stars!!! Highly recommend.
Such a fantastic home to spend the holiday with 3 generations of family. Andy and Amy are the most lovely people to share their dream beach home with others. House is even better in person than any picture could show.
We had a great time in Michigan City and look forward to staying here again. The hosts were very helpful. The house on the website is portrayed accurately. Lots of sleeping space. Also, really liked the dining space. Our family group of 12 fit nicely. Multiple tables provide a game area, kid area to play and another table to dine at. Our favorite part was the very close walk to the beach and a great walkway to the water.. Very easy with little children. Also, the host had lots of beach towels, beach chairs and toys. Very convenient. The basement was a great area for a family w/ 3 kids. Overall, no complaints at all, and lots of praise for a great house close to beach. We also visited the zoo, splash pad was closed.
This home provided a bed to everyone in our large group and the location to the beach was ideal! The wifi was a little spotty with so many people in the house but overall the stay was great.
Great location, really short walk to the beach. Large gathering area with plenty of tables. We loved our stay and would definitely book here again.
We had a great time! Andrew responded quickly to our every question, a couple of them because we failed to read the manual, lol. A small repair was needed on a railing (safety) and it was fixed almost immediately. Pro’s; plenty of bathrooms, super easy walk to the beach, beach toy room, plenty of seating for meals, lots and lots of dishes, sunny gathering area. Cons; not a cooks kitchen, very small kitchen, need to time showers to not lose pressure, limited outdoor space. We’d stay here again and made some beautiful family memories here.
This was a fabulous rental. The location is just a short walk (less than 1 block) to a really beautiful stretch of beach on Lake Michigan, and a 10 min walk from a cafe with outdoor seating and playground. The house was well stocked with beach supplies (sand toys, beach chairs, beach towels, etc), and there was a hose outside by the stairs down to a basement mudroom and bathroom which really helped prevent sand from getting tracked all over the house. The downstairs has a large open common room with three large tables and two living room seating areas - perfect for smaller groups to hold separate conversations during a large gathering. The entire wall on three sides of the downstairs is windows, facing the lake, so that you can have the lake breeze flow through the common room while you socialize. :) The bedrooms were very comfortable and there were lots of bathrooms. There is also a cute deck and small garden area. Our only critique would be that the kitchen is quite small and lacked a few cooking supplies. There are a lot of good restaurants in the area (e.g., nearby cafe, pizza/italian, mexican, jamaican), so the house seems set-up best for folks that mostly want to play on the beach, socialize, snack, and then either go out for meals or get take-out. We would definitely come back - it was a wonderful vacation.
This was a large, sunny house with, plenty of chairs and tables for an extended family. The kitchen was well-stocked with plates, silver and cookware. There were ample bedrooms and bathrooms for our group of 11 people, 6 adults and 5 children. The 6 upstairs bedrooms were large and pleasant. I had learned from other reviews that the basement was damp and buggy (and it was), so we didn't plan to use the beds down there, but the basement was handy because, after swimming, we could hose off near the basement entrance, then enter that way to keep sand out of the upper floors. The beach was close, and the fact that we could borrow beach towels and chairs from the basement was great. One complaint: the owners were very specific that each person was to use ONLY one washcloth and one bath towel, and we would be charged extra if we used too many. Really? Do they have any idea how hard it is to keep track of towels when you have 5 children all using one bath tub (the house only has one)? Since they charge a separate cleaning fee, it seems petty to make renters count bath towels on the last morning as they are running around trying to get packed! Would it be too much to ask that the cleaners wash an extra towel or two? The owners also asked us to strip the beds and deposit linens on the 1st floor (which also seems like something that should be included in the cleaning fee), but they said to leave the comforters on the beds. I assume that means comforters don't get washed from one week to the next. I would have been happier if they did.
Our whole family stayed here for the Fourth of July weekend and had a wonderful stay. The common spaces were perfect for game playing, but still enough room for everyone to sit comfortably. The proximity to the beach was great and we all appreciated not having to fight traffic and find parking. Would definitely stay here again.
Great historical area, wonderful neighborhood. Short walk to the beach!
We enjoyed the location - just a short 1 minute walk to the beach. Home has a very comfy feeling and was perfect for our large group!
We loved his home. There was enough space for everyone to have their own space at any point if the day. The home was very nice and right next to the beach. We loved everything about it!
