Phippsburg, Maine
Just steps from the Kennebec River, this location allows you to enjoy a tranquil getaway while remaining close to any attractions you may desire: beaches, fishing, boating, shopping, and more.
The house is situated on four acres and surrounded by the woods of the Kennebec Land Trust. As you drive up the stone driveway to the top of the hill you pass by the front of the house and come around to the back entrance. A deck spans the entire back of the house and has a grill as well as a large outdoor table with umbrella and chairs. You can enjoy quiet mornings out on the deck in the summer sun or meals outdoors in the evenings.
Entering the back door you pass a half bath and small back bedroom on your right to find a large open kitchen and dining room on your left. The kitchen is stocked with all the necessities if you want to cook at home and a large dining room table that seats 10. As you walk through the dining room you enter the family room. A comfy couch, Direct TV, and WiFi are available if weather or other circumstances keep you indoors for part of your stay. Off the family room is the Master Bedroom. With plenty of windows and a Queen size bed, the Master is bright and welcoming. French doors open out onto the back deck so you can step right outside.
Heading downstairs the ground floor has three full bedrooms and a full bath which provide plenty of room for family or friends or both to stay. The full bath is stocked with towels and there’s a laundry room for your use at the bottom of the stairs. Each bedroom has a double bed and ample closet space. All the bedroom windows look out onto the front lawn which stretches down the hill to the road.
The local area offers every kind of activity you could hope for while visiting Maine. The Kennebec River is only 800 feet from the house, with fishing access at the end of Old Ferry Road. Farther down Fiddler’s Reach Road is the public boat access where you can enter the river for a day of boating. You can travel North to Bath or South towards Popham Beach and Boothbay Harbor. If you want to spend a day at the beach you can drive down Route 209 to Popham Beach State Park and walk out on the expansive sand flats at low tide. Visit the Fort Popham Site nearby if you’re interested in a bit of history or grab something to eat a Spinney’s, a long-time local spot right on the beach.
If you’re interested in shopping or lunch or dinner out, Boothbay, Georgetown, and Brunswick are all nearby. Even Freeport isn’t too far if you want to visit L. L. Bean, a Maine institution.

The property is nestled nicely in the woods on the river. Spacious and comfortable. We only stayed for one night but would love to stay here longer. This place would be fantastic for a longer term rental for a family.
The stay was great. House smells kind of musty but was otherwise nice. Master bedroom doesn’t have a door, just a curtain. The location is great. The host was attentive.
A great place to house a whole slew of friends/family visiting from out of town.
A comfy home for a larger group. Facilities were nice, renter note, the only shower/bathtub on lower level. Rental close to Bath Maine and Popham Beach, so short trips were easy throughout the day. Easy grocery shopping about 10 minutes away as well. Property manager called before the stay and communicated about residence in detail, which was greatly appreciated.
The house has a lot of great space and is such an easy drive to Popham, Head beach and Bath or Brunswick. The manager is very kind and helpful. We can't wait to return to this house!
It's a nice place to spend time with family or friends, very private and quiet area, love the green views from all around the house. We had everything we need to cook our meals. I really recommend this house to stay in.
Inviting and charming home. Great place to stay with extended family. Lots of room to gather and everyone had their own space to sleep. Love the area. Beautiful part of Maine!
Good stay. Had 1 issue and Darren resolved it quickly. My only suggestion is to get mattress toppers for beds(if you like firm/hard beds you will be ok), make fans available for cooling and review kitchen items. We were missing some very essential things for cooking. Private location, huge property, water access, fire pit and great for entertaining. A good blend of rustic Maine charm with amenities. We would stay again.
the house was a perfect place for our out of town family /friends to gather for a wedding in Bath. We had everything we needed and the host was very accommodating in helping when we had any questions. The grounds were large and the parking plenty.
House was perfect for our group of Kayakers. Nice eating for morning and evening meals and trip planning. Comfortable beds, good location for us. Hope to return next year.
Darren is an excellent host. The location can't be beat and there is a lot of room to spread out
After a week in maine wilderness all kids wanted was watch tv. As soon as wee got there they were happily running around picking their rooms. The house had everything we needed. It had a feel of an old farm house with a nautical flair. Super cozy and inviting. I just wish we could use a wood burning stove (it's in a process of being replaced). It was a lazy weekend just hanging around the house, laying in a hammock and looking at all the artwork around the house. We did manage to squeeze a visit to a Morse mountain and Fort popham which was a plus. Even though it felt like we were in a middle of the woods again everything was close by with in15 min. The beach, hiking, gas station, grocery store just off rt 209. For groceries we went to shaw's in bath. We don't have it in western NY but looks just like our Tops. We had a very wonderful experience, everyone injoyed the property and everything it offered, i just wish we had more time, didn't have the chance to have a bond fire or really explore the area. Darren is a wonderful host.
It was the perfect location!
It was such an nice house with plenty of room inside and out. It was so peaceful there. Could hear every cricket at night. My dogs loved it too. Big yard to play ball with them.
This place was great and fit our two families perfectly. So pleased. Darren was quick to respond to questions and very helpful.
My extended family (6-7 people) really enjoyed staying here. We appreciated the good sized kitchen and the proximity to Bath, Boothbay Harbor, Portland, and Popham Beach. The good side is orange allowed for having other cousins over to celebrate my mother‘s birthday. Everything worked well, and Darren returned my messages promptly – though I wouldn’t have minded having details in writing to refer to. Internet was strong even with all of us using it. The only thing I would note is that the downstairs is a bit damp and would be less suitable for people with allergies. The owner is in the process of replacing some nonworking windows, also downstairs, but that wasn’t a problem as the week was fairly cool and lots of fans were supplied. Overall, great value, We had a wonderful vacation.
Family get together for the Topsham Fair. Great, quiet location in a home that sleeps a large crowd.
We had a wonderful stay. The house was close to everything. We especially enjoyed Popham Beach with our dog. We parked at the fort for free and spent the day along the long dog friendly beach.
quiet, lots of little extras that helped with our stay
This was the perfect place for a last minute gathering with my family. The place is very big and feels homey. Darren was extremely nice and attentive to any questions I had about the property. Only thing to note is the photos of the rooms are a little outdated so there isn't a room that has two beds in it like the photos show. Other than that, everything is as described!
We met up with in-laws and cousins for a week-long vacation in beautiful Maine. The house was spacious and clean. We spent lots of time on the deck and watching the kids and our pup playing in the giant grassy yard. Darren was super great at communication, there were plenty of towels, the kitchen was decently stocked and Popham Beach is close. We also loved walking down to the river. Super close and easy for an evening dip. Fresh oysters from nearby Clamhunters was fun too!
Home was perfect for us. No problems at all.
What a nice place to stay. Very homelike feel; very relaxing. Close to the fort, lovely beaches, small town with good food, and near the outlets at Freeport.
We were celebrating reunion and an award at Bowdoin and this was the perfect place. Spacious, clean, not fussy, off the main road and near the river - great for kids, dogs, all ages. Many birds! Easy and welcoming.
The house was in a great location with close proximity to nearby beaches, as well as Bath, Freeport, and Portland. There was plenty of space to stretch out throughout the large house, and we loved seeing the resident groundhog each morning! The nearby Winnegance restaurant was great for breakfast and lunch.
Very seamless process.
We had a comfortable stay at Darren's place
