This places was very nice and private! The layout outside with the pool and hot tub was great. My wife and I had a most relaxing time. The house is between the west and north entrance to Joshua Tree National Park. It takes about 20 minutes to get to the north entrance, which is less busy than the west entrance. We saw lots of lizards and gila monsters on the property. There is a nice hike on the property as well. We were lucky enough to see a bobcat on one of the last days we were there! That was very exciting, as they are very skittish. The only complaint I would have(very minor), is the kitchen is a little small. There is plenty of seating to eat inside or out. We ate outside most of the time, which was pleasant. I highly recommend staying here! Dale kept in contact, and made sure everything was satisfactory. Thank you Dale! We will be back in the near future!

Stayed for 4 days over spring break with 2 teenage boys. The pool was too chilly for swimming, but the spa & grounds were amazing. The boys loved scrambling the rocks & exploring the property. The spa & fire pit were great nighttime activities under the desert stars. The home is clean & well stocked. The owner is very responsive. Location was great. 100% would recommend.

Came with my family for our first visit to Joshua Tree, and this was the perfect home for our trip. Great location close to park entrances, and my kids all loved exploring the rocks and cave in the backyard. The pool and hot tub were clean and helped us relax after our mornings hiking in the sunshine. Definitely recommend and hope to return someday!

Easily one of the most unique, well situated properties we have stayed at. Beautiful location with a backyard that you have to see to believe! Take a hike right up the boulders in the back yard and then relax in the hot top and pool with amazing views. The house is eclectic and we LOVED it... Dale, the property owner provided an excellent tour of the property at check-in and shared wonderful stories along the way... house is older, but is well equipped and has everything you need for a great stay! Easy access to Joshua Tree, 29 Palms, and both the West and North enterances to Joshua Tree National Park!

If you're a nature lover like us, this property cant be topped! Epic caves, abundant wildlife, and many varieties of cacti are just steps away from the refreshing pool. The house is basic but well appointed - this is all about the location. Definitely the coolest VRBO I have ever stayed in. Dale is very friendly and accommodating as well, highly recommended.

This was a special trip for me and my two girls. After a long struggle with Long Covid, my older daughter is finally doing much better, and we wanted to celebrate.Joshua Tree Retreat was a wonderful place to escape to. The three‑bedroom home, filled with unique artwork, books, and colorful walls, felt truly special—definitely not your everyday VRBO. Dale’s stories about the history behind the artwork and books made exploring them even more meaningful. The numerous outdoor sitting areas, the hot tub, and the unbelievably beautiful pool offered peaceful places to relax and spend time together. Even working outdoors felt like a reprieve. And how refreshing to stay in a VRBO with a well‑stocked kitchen and quality cookware. The retreat is a short distance from both the North and West entrances to the park, making it easy to explore early and late in the day to avoid the heat. The Barker Dam and Hidden Valley hikes are great for everyone, but for me, seeing my daughter able to enjoy them again was incredibly gratifying. A sunset stroll inside the nearby park boundary—something Dale can give directions for—was also wonderful.Dale was kind enough to extend a late checkout for us, which allowed us to enjoy the morning, soak our feet in the pool, and then transition easily to meeting family later in the day in Palm Springs. We truly appreciated his understanding and the extra care.

We’ve stayed at some pretty nice vacation houses, but this place takes the cake. It’s set right on the border of Joshua Tree National Park, with no close neighbors and our back yard looks like a park itself. I basically chose this location after seeing the pictures of the pool surrounded by massive rocks. The owner Dale gave us a great tour when we arrived showing us all the history, artwork and personal artifacts that decorate the house. Definitely not your average white washed vacation rental. He really put his heart and soul into this place. Every room is full of character, painted in tones of orange and plum with baroque decor. Definitely the perfect place to relax and recharge.

This was an exceptional stay from start to finish. The location is absolutely perfect, with gorgeous views and easy access to incredible hiking right among the boulders. It truly feels you are immersed in the Joshua Tree landscape. The house is very comfortable and exceptionally well stocked with everything we needed. The jacuzzi was awesome, asd enjoyed a glass of red wine on the patio while soaking in the peaceful surroundings. We also loved being able to walk down the road to Mas o Menos for cocktails and tacos, which was such a fun bonus. Dale was a charming and incredibly informative host, and his vast library was a wonderful touch that made the home feel even more special. Every detail made this a memorable experience, and we can’t wait to return and enjoy the amazing pool next time.

The location of this property was perfect. You are close to the popular West entrance of Joshua Tree National Park as well as the North entrance to the park and this allows you relatively quick access to two different areas. The property was beautiful, it sits right up against the desert boulders and is very quiet, making for wonderfully peaceful and relaxing evenings. Great for stargazing as well. The host provides a very detailed orientation to the property and the home is well stocked with all the essentials.

Dale has a wonderful property and it is clear that he is very proud of what he has created. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen well appointed, and the whole place was clean. It is a very private area located close to the park. The rocks behind the place are great for exploring. It’s located about 10-15 minutes from town which is nice for privacy and quiet. The hot tub was a wonderful treat after a long day of hiking too.I really have nothing but good things to say about the property. We hope to return soon!

He was such a wonderful host and we loved learning about all of the rich history and meaning behind the home and its details. We felt so comfortable and relaxed here all week that it was especially difficult to pack up and leave when it was time to return home. From the incredible backyard boulder cilmbs to stargazing in the hot tub after a long day hiking in the park, this place was everything we needed and more. The pool is so thoughtfully designed that it was such a treat to see the sky's reflection pictured inside of it. We had a fire every night, slept comfortably, and enjoyed exploring the grounds. The location is great, the property is peaceful and private, and Dale is a charming bonus! :) He also gave us a walking tour of his newest home design that is currently being constructed. It took our breath away! I was so impressed by every thoughtful detail, and I truly feel lucky to have gotten to see it before the inside walls were even built. I'm already anxious to take the next tour when everything is complete! This will be another unique desert treasure thanks to Dale. We will absolutely be back! Thank you again for sharing your home and heart with us!

We had a wonderful, restorative, and peaceful stay at Villa Dei Fiore! We wanted to get out of LA before our son went back to school and this was the perfect respite. The home is private and abuts Joshua Tree National Park. We saw so many animals and the rocks and flora were amazing. The pool is magical and we spent most of our time there watching birds fly by and lizards crawl on the rocks, while escaping the heat. The grounds are covered with rosemary and cypress, and floating in the pool smelling those heat scented plants is such an amazing memory. The interior of the house is full of really cool books on just about every subject you can think of. The cooling system in the house is great and we felt really and comfortable despite the summer heat. The hot tub is clean and set up against a wonderful desert backdrop and there’s a grill and full kitchen for use.Dale is a wonderful host who takes great pride of ownership. I loved hearing about his family’s history at the property and he took us on a tour to show us how everything works. He did a great job of checking in to ensure we were comfortable without being intrusive. He was very accommodating to my 6 year old son. The house was a bit cramped for a family of five but we didn't book this place to be inside. It's an older house so don't expect modern day luxuries but the AC blows cold, the water pressure is great, the kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to cook meals and there are plenty of books to read if you're into that. Also, there's a great coffee spot (Mas o menos) right down the street which was a plus. Dale is accommodating and will give you a tour of the site during your check in. I know this isn't for everyone so just keep that in mind. The real star of the show is the back side of the property. There's a stand alone jacuzzi which is perfect for relaxing and staring at the sky. The pool is amazing and fenced in and backs up to the sprawling boulder area. My kids loved climbing the boulders and each day they would explore higher and higher. The high cave was their favorite spot. It was great to have that option for the days we didn't feel like making the trek into JTNP. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it.

What a remarkable place and location. Our group came for reconnecting with each other, ourselves, and the environment… to meditate, enjoy the rocks and the peacefulness. We found the home to be very well appointed and filled with beautiful art. And the Location! … we were right there with the boulders of Joshua Tree! And with shade trees and interesting plants the host has been growing there. Imagine driving into the Park and finding an interesting place to settle for a while as you enjoy the desert and rock formations. Now imagine having a comfortable house… right there! With a pool and a spa… right there! Our group of friends typically takes retreats down to a ranch house in Baja, in the mountains east of Ensenada. We’ve owned it for decades – and the rock and plants are much like Joshua Tree. A few years ago, a Mexican cartel took over the region to harvest a prolific agave-type plant that is used for cosmetics. There was a fair amount of violence with local ranchers and on the roads. We haven’t gone down there together for a long time...and chose Dale’s Villa dei Fiori because the landscape reminded us of Mexico. Coming to Dale’s place in Joshua Tree was just what we needed… to rekindle our sense of that remote ranch, the wild country, and to reconnect in a lovely, comfortable place. We felt lucky.

This gem of a rental is warm, decadent and so comfortable. Every living space celebrates the art of living. From the beautiful bed and bed frames to the landscaping, to the pool and all the outdoor set ups for little picnics and snacks. The house is full of books you will want to lose yourself in. The pool is so thoughtfully designed and tucked in the boulders. This is the kind of place that you want to keep a secret. We were myself, my husband, two daughters (5 and 6), my parents and my aunt (70). Everyone adored this place, and it met us where we all were. We didn't even have a need to go into the park, as we were surrounded by a private backyard of boulders and Joshua tree. The kids loved swimming in the pool every day--in March! and even dragged us in, which was surprisingly refreshing and delightful. Dale, the owner, is a magical human being who we were so lucky to get to spend time with. The stories he shared, both of his life and of this space, were part of the best memories we have. If you have the luxury to get to know him during your stay, there is no better souvenir to take from Joshua Tree. There is a 10-page agreement that comes with the rental. It is Dale's love letter to this special property. I loved reading it; I loved following all the rules, knowing that is what keeps it beautiful and allows us all to have really nice things. Highly recommend!

The location is perfect, the home is impeccably maintained, and the grounds are simply breathtaking! I would stay here again in a heartbeat and wholeheartedly recommend it to friends and family. The villa has everything you need for a comfortable and relaxing getaway. The kitchen is well-stocked, the sitting room is cozy, and the three bedrooms feature incredibly comfortable beds. Here are a few tips to make your stay even better: 1. Upon arrival, Dale gives a detailed, personal tour of the property, covering every little detail and answering any questions. My son and I loved learning about the villa’s unique features! However, the tour does take some time, so if you have dinner plans or need to run to the store after check-in, keep that in mind. (I didn’t, and let’s just say my husband got a little hangry!) 2. While there’s no traditional TV service, the villa has WiFi. We brought our Firestick, and while my husband and I enjoyed wine under the stars in the hot tub, our boys happily watched March Madness games inside. 3. Each bedroom sleeps two if sharing a bed. If you have extra guests planning to sleep in the living room (up to three more people), I’d recommend discussing sleeping arrangements with Dale ahead of time. For our family of four, the space was more than enough room! Villa dei Fiori is

We spent a fantastic winter holiday at Villa dei Fiori. Our host Dale provided beautiful accommodations in all the inside and outside spaces. Dale also offered plenty of options for enjoying our time at Joshua Tree National Park and on his lovely property. My husband, our adult offspring and I enjoyed our meals outside on the veranda during the day and by fire on another veranda at night. Walking from the Villa, we hiked and bouldered in the park our first full day. It turned out to be a secluded hike during one of the busiest weeks in the park. Stargazing every evening from the hot spa proved relaxing after climbs and hikes in Joshua Tree. Orion rose from the rocks every night to point the way to the zodiac beyond. Some even enjoyed the pool during the day and cold plunges at night between soaks in the hot spa. The night we had a fire in the cave was magical - one of the highlights of our trip. Visible stars peeked through openings in the rocks as we enjoyed the crackling fire and stillness of the cave. After full days and nights, we found our beds delightfully comfortable as we drifted off to sleep. Every view inside the home and outside on the property offers beauty and artistry. The home includes a library of books with a tremendous range of topics, which Dale encourages his guests to enjoy. We are looking forward to returning to Villa dei Fiori and cannot wait to dance on the rooftop of Villa dei Fiori II nearing completion.Cathy W.

Just had an amazing short vacation at Dales property in Joshua Tree. His landscaping is amazing, the pool is as spectacular as the pictures. So much better than staying in a hotel. Here you can sit in the Hot Tub and watch the stars for as long as you want, uninterrupted! Dale is a great host, and a very creative artist, which shows in his carefully crafted garden, which has unique film set props.

We rented this property for a getaway for my wifes birthday. We were looking to relax and we definitely found the place to do it. Dale has done a great job turning the grounds into a private & relaxing getaway nestled in the rocks. The grounds are great for hanging out by the pool to read, swim or take a nap in the hammock (which I did). Star gazing in the jacuzzi was fantastic and all the stores & restaraunts are 10/15min away. You can hike around right from the house & all the patios have a view. We ate breakfast outside every morning. The resident Roadrunner paid us several visits as well. We will definitely be going back! The

We recently stayed at this desert rental, and it exceeded all my expectations! The property was beautifully maintained, with stunning views and all the amenities we needed for a comfortable stay. The location was ideal for exploring nearby attractions and enjoying the tranquility of the desert. The host was incredibly responsive and provided excellent recommendations for local activities and dining. We especially loved the outdoor space for stargazing at night. I can’t recommend this place enough—it’s the perfect spot for a relaxing escape!

My family had the best time at the Villa. My adult kids pretty much spent the entire week in the pool. We hiked the 49 palms hike, which was so pretty and saw so much wildlife in the area. Dale was an excellent host and we enjoyed hearing about his plans and the new Villa.

The villa was beautiful, spacious and unique. I wished we could have stayed longer than 1 full day because we didn’t even get to lounging poolside. We did enjoy exploring the caves, the wonderful hot tub under the stars, and even meeting the resident roadrunner who greeted us at breakfast. Dale is a spry young man who has lived a full life and is full of stories! He’s built something amazing here.

Life becomes rich when you stay in beautiful places and meet interesting people. If you’re a creative family and would like an experience that is not cookie cutter, you will enjoy this property! The location of the home situated adjacent to huge boulders was truly profound. Our seven-year-old daughter’s highlight was climbing the boulders and exploring the cave and of course swimming in the salt water pool. She said she wanted to stay and build a tiny home on the cliff overlooking the pool! We will cherish our experience in Joshua Tree. Dale was a kind and interesting host, his passion and creativity was a true inspiration.

A hidden gem amongst the boulders, Villa dei Fiori is a true majestic escape. We spent 4 amazing nights relaxing in the hot tub and gazing into an unforgettable canvas of shining stars. From the landscape and wildlife to the serenity and seclusion we could not have dreamed of a more rejuvenating or memorable vacation. Each morning, we had visits from many geckos and during the days we saw two roadrunners, multiple hummingbirds, some cute bats in the evening, and a few coyotes, and occasionally at night we heard an orchestra of howls when the moon came up. Best of all, on the last morning, we were treated to a rare sighting of a bobcat sitting atop the head of the George Washington rock. We enjoyed our time lounging pool side soaking up the sun as well as taking refreshing dips in the saltwater pool. You feel like the only people in the world when at the pool as you are surrounded by boulders and trees. Dale has done a FANTASTIC job with the property; the grounds are breathtaking. You can truly see he has put his love and hard work into every square inch of this property. We can’t wait to come back again. Thank you, Dale, for sharing your slice of heaven with us! Fun Facts: You are within 15 minutes from 2 of JTNP entrances; there is an awesome cave that you see when Dale shows you around; he will also tell you about the nearby hikes including one straight into the park; and there is an astounding assortment of books in the house along with gorgeous art and cool décor.
