Stayed Dec 31, 1969I stayed in this studio apartment for 5 months. It was right in the middle of a lovely part of Elmwood, an area having many restaurants and coffee houses, and close to the Elmwood movie theatre. As a visiting professor at UC Berkeley, the apartment's location was ideal: walking distance from campus. The public transportation was also excellent. The apartment was in great condition, fully equipped and with a beautiful backyard that I could take advantage of, whether for reading or entertaining. Rochelle was a wonderful hostess, exacting in details but very responsive to requests. She was easy to deal with; really a very nice person. I highly recommend this apartment for any couple or single person looking for a place with a great location, in perfect condition, and a wonderful host.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969I stayed in this apartment for six month and loved every minute of it. Rochelle and her family are great hosts: everything in the apartment is provided for and it is in move in condition. Rochelle is very responsive to any question and also to help with any concern, which she addresses almost immediately. The apartment is beautifully equipped, with very new furniture, and attention to detail what you may need in your daily life. It caters to someone who loves to cook (it has a lot of different things to cook fantastic meals) and also to someone who just wants to have a BBQ or heat up some food. Everything is possible in this apartment. In particular, the location of the apartment is very convenient near a Wholefoods, Safeway and further down a Trader Joes. There are also plenty of shops and restaurants within a 1 minute walk. Although the apartment is close to all of this, it is very quiet and a little Oasis, with a wonderfully maintained garden, which I used often to eat outside or just to read or chat with a guest. I have lived in many places for a short-time period and have rented apartments in Europe, the US, Latin America and the UK. This apartment is my favorite place to stay of all of them and I would come back any day. All in all, it is an excellent place and great value for money. Thank you again for hosting me!

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We rented this apartment in the summer of 2014 for about 2.5 months. We absolutely loved it. This apartment (apartment B) is on the first floor, with direct access to the patio/garden; there is another apartment on the first floor on the right side of the house, and a larger apartment on the second floor (for this apartment C, see VRBO #489828). The apartment was in perfect condition. The house had undergone a multi-year remodeling process, and its apartments have only been rented since fall 2013. So everything was basically new when we moved in. The apartment is very well equipped; everything is of very high standard (Miele dishwasher etc.). There are lots of kitchen utensils, cleaning supplies, a washer & dryer reserved exclusively for the apartment in a room nearby, a printer & scanner, and lots of other goodies. The house has a very nice garden/patio in the back which is shared among the three apartments. It has a superb grill for nice BBQs. What was really outstanding was the service and responsiveness of the landlord. Although the apartment was already in excellent shape when we arrived, she upgraded various aspects of the apartment during our stay, while fully respecting our privacy. When we had any questions or issues, she replied immediately (sometimes within minutes). We have never had a better experience with a landlord. The location of the apartment is ideal. It is just off College Avenue, about two blocks from the Elmwood Cafe. The local library is about 2 minutes away. If you come with small kids, there are two nice playgrounds within a 5 minutes walking distance. Berkeley’s main campus is about 15-20 minutes walking distance (there is also a bus). If you arrive with a car and don’t get the parking spot in front of the house, the best parking option we found is to park your car a few blocks away at the Berkeley/Oakland border where there are less parking restrictions. We have stayed in another apartment in the neighborhood before. This is by far our favorite. Please note: As we arrived with a larger family, we actually rented apartments B & C of this house. So don't be surprised to find a somewhat overlapping review for apartment C (VRBO #489828).

Stayed Dec 31, 1969I spent a research period at UC Berkeley and had the chance to find this great accommodation which is conventiently located in the lovely Elmwood area, full of shops, restaurants and cafés, just 15 minutes on foot from Berkeley campus. The Rockridge shopping area as well as the Rockridge BART station are also within easy reach both on foot or by bus. Not only was this accommodation excellent in terms of location, but also in terms of equipment. It is a lovely, safe studio apartment equipped with everything you may need, ranging from a fully equipped kitchen, where you can cook everything you need, to a wifi internet connection and tv with cable, and on-demand channels. Rochelle, Paul and their family were fantastic hosts, providing me with everything I needed as well as tips for places to visit, and always caring about my safety. I couldn't have asked for more and I definitely recommend this property to everyone who wants to stay in the East Bay, where you can reach San Francisco in just 20 minutes by train. If I can, I would definitely come back there again.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969My husband and I stayed in this lovely home/apartment for eight days/nights. It was just steps away from College Ave with all its sweet restaurants and shops. The house was spotless and just recently remodeled. All our needs were met in the kitchen, not to mention the sitting room where the Berkeley sun poured in thru the sliding doors and made the place cheery and warm. So cool was the ceiling heater in the bathroom, along with a heated towel rack; perfect for a chilly Berkeley morn. We hosted a small gathering in the private backyard using the owner's (Rochelle) Weber grill. Rochelle left movies (3-Ds as well) for us to watch and a basket full of tasty cocoa and three Toblerone bars. The home had a perfect feng-shui feel to it which made sleeping very comfortable. The laundry facilities were just perfect! Working with Rochelle was a pleasant experience, and she made herself available at any time. Thank you Rochelle for making our Berkeley trip so enjoyable and easy. We will be back!
