Society Hill, South Carolina
A lovely Private Historic Cottage in the Heart of Society Hill, one of the oldest towns in South Carolina. The cottage sits close to the Great Pee Dee River. A perfect destination for families and individuals alike. There are 3 porches to relax on and fully enjoy a southern experience.
With 3 bedrooms, one being a family style room, the whole family and friends together can enjoy this quaint historic community. For those traveling alone or a couple, the enjoyment is just as memorable.
This was a very nice clean historical house. I love the detail. Melissa made us feel right at home and made our stay so easy.
Melissa was an awesome host. Met us at the house and have us all the information we needed. Told us about the history of the home and the area. She is so knowledgeable. The house was fantastic. Hated to leave. Would definately stay again.
This was a fun place for my son and me to meet halfway between where he lives in NC and we live in SC. If you like historic houses, this is a real treasure! We appreciated the history of the property and furnishings as well as hearing more about the history of Society Hill and the local area. We enjoy both history and the outdoors, so we explored not only Society Hill, but also the historic districts of nearby Bennettsville and Cheraw, as well as Cheraw State Park and the lovely walking trail across Lake Paul Wallace in Bennettsville. We spent a lot of time on the screened-in porches and the front porch, but also appreciated the spacious dining room for eating and playing games and the TV and living room for watching movies at night. Melissa is an excellent host; she made sure everything was right for our stay -- and she is a great storyteller!
A nicely furnished cottage with many amenities. Great location that met our needs. Very easy to communicate with owner via text. Melissa is very responsive to guest inquiries and needs. we will be repeat visitors.
Melissa was great communicating and accommodating our needs. The cottage was beautifully decorated and very clean! Highly recommend!!!!
Mostly had a problem with website. Other than that it was nice. Would stay again
Melissa is alwas good to us . Good placeto stay
We were celebrating 20 years of marriage, wanted to bring our dog, did not want a hotel or condo, and wanted a quiet setting but still close to lakes, parks, and ocean. Found this quaint cottage with history. The pictures do not do justice. Beautiful mix of history, comfort, and modern touches. The host is fantastic! She communicates, answers questions, gives suggestions of where to eat and what to go see. We were also pleasantly surprised at the snacks, breakfast selections, drink choices, and dog snacks! We will be back and look forward to staying again!
We chose it primarily for its convenient location along the route to visit family. We would stay again. The host was helpful and welcoming. The house is amazing in it history, details, beauty, comfort. We travel with our Golden Retriever, who was welcome. There is even a fenced area for the dog to be pit off leash. For us, the place was a winner!
My girlfriend and I love staying at historic properties and the Burn Cottage did not disappoint. The photos do not do it justice, especially the high ceilings in the original portion of the dwelling. Tasteful antiques are in every room. The dog run was perfect for our little companion...
