We had an amazing stay at the bach. Both Hamish and Gay sre amazing host and made us feel welcomed.The location is top notch I wont spoil it but photos dont do justice.A proper Kiwi Bach!!

Amazing location which our family of 4 loved. Kids loved playing on the flat grass lawn in front. Kayaked and swam in the bay and walked around the coast to a sandy beach.Owners very welcoming and accommodating, thank you so much!

The Starr family’s lovely Bach was idyllic. Everything we needed was provided and the setting and vibe of the home was just perfect.

We had an amazing family stay in this beautiful piece of paradise and only wish we had booked for longer.Had an amazing time with kids kayaking around the inlets, fishing, coffee at the waters edge, a wine on the deck in the evening, watching and listening to the local birdlife including kiwis at night.A huge thank you to the Starr family and a special shout out to Hamish and his friendly dog Shaky for sharing their magical place with us and going the extra mile to make it truly special.We wouldn't hesitate to come back and stay next time we are in the Northland region

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, it’s been the most peaceful, laid back experience we could have hoped for. Bach was perfect for us, had everything we needed and plenty of space to lounge about. Our hosts were accommodating and friendly. We enjoyed a wonderful meal with their compliments. First on our list when we return.

The hosts went out of there way to make us ferl at home. They were the kindest people I've ever met! The location was like a piece of heaven and the place was very clean and nice. I would stay here again if I could. Highly, highly recommended.

Our stay at Motupipi was an incredible memory, from start to finish. Our hosts welcomed us, spoiled us, and provided detailed information so that nothing was left to guess or to chance. We enjoyed relaxing, fishing, kayaking, and sampling NZ wines on the deck. Truly, a special place which we will not forget.

The hosts here are incredible! So welcoming and friendly. They were just lovely! The Bach is simple in a good way, with everything you need and in an absolutely stunning location. It is a very special place.

Lovely Bach on waters edge by Bay of islands. 2 Bedrooms ideal for a family Grassed area was large and well maintained Peaceful location for a quiet getaway. Plenty of space for kids to explore nature. Bach was well equipped.

This place is fantastic and we will definitely be returning Very clean. Beautiful setting and so so peaceful. The hosts are the best! Very friendly and helpful. The fresh fish was so yum. This would have to be our new favourite spot.

We stayed here for 5 nights with our 1 year old son. There was plenty to do just on the property itself, exploring the beach, dinghy, SUP, swing, and bush. Stunning location, which was protected from most wind directions and meant even though the weather was patchy we could still get out every day. Incredible sunsets! We discovered plenty more in KeriKeri and surrounds, and we had a lot of fun.Thanks to the Starr family who were incredibly hospitable of our extra requests (even finding us a highchair at short notice!)The house has everything you need as a small family, and the beds were comfortable. The lounge area is relaxing and even with the patchy weather get to enjoy the serenity from inside and out. We look forward to visiting again. You may not want to arrive in a small engine car as the driveway is steeper than usual :) (we had a medium sized SUV and this was fine)

The Starr family's Motupipi cottage on the water in Kerikeri couldn't have been better. It was the perfect spot to reflect on our two months in New Zealand. The cottage had everything we could need for our week's stay and the location on a large inlet was idyllic. Quiet,

Great place to stay! Spotless! This batch has been modernized without losing its old NZ style.Down a steep hill it sits close to the water’s edge surrounded by lawns with a shady pohutukawa tree with rope swing to one side and a magnificent jacaranda on the other.Large shower/laundry room.Excellent H&C water pressure.Main room has fully equipped kitchen at the back.This has full sized F/F, cooker & microwave and great assortment of cooking utensils. A six seater dining table separates this from the very comfortable sitting area.The wow factor is the two aspect view from here down and across the inlet. Large ranch sliders lead onto the deck,a large picture window is at right angles to this.The two separate bedrooms both lead off this room.The double has a door as well as a ranch slider leading onto the deck, the twin room has a curtain separating it from the main living area and has open space above door height & opening windows with views.The large deck overlooks the lawn, the little pebble beach & inlet and has a six seater table and a separate two seater and table unit. There are also two loungers to use anywhere.Shame the bush walk was unusable, but the 3 kayaks are a great way of further exploring. Our hosts Kathryn, Hamish, Gaylene Starr were charming and we were amazed when they immediately bought a new sun shade for the table when the old one packed up & Kathryn’s specially baked cakes were delicious.This is certainly worthstaying in.Thanks! We hope to be back

Best place to stay in New Zealand , the views and quietness of the place are amazing. Also good people make this place 10/10 .

Lovely place to stay and the hosts are fantastic people truly the kiwi bach experience, lovely night skies, Oyster Catcher birds were lovely and the sound Moreporks and the odd Kiwi call at night was great.Kayaking up down the inlet was enjoyable and the bush walk checking out the flora & fauna was interesting, definitely recommend this place if you want some peace of mind.

I was swayed by the photos of the beautiful view from the bach. Reality was better than the photos (even when the weather wasn't good).The location was perfect. Right on the water's edge of a peaceful, beautiful inlet. 20min from Kerkeri if we needed anything. Plenty to do is you want to be active: safe lagoon for children with a jumping pole, kayaks to explore the beautiful inlet, walks along water front. Or just sit and enjoy the peace neighbours (baby oyster catcher and gulls).The building is older but well maintained. There is a new bathroom. It contains everything you may need and is spotlessly clean.Hosts are warm, welcoming and helpful.Cannot wait to return.

We were blown away by the incredible views right on the doorstep. The facilities were great and the hosts were just so friendly and helpful. We had a great time on the water with the kayaks and loved watching the stingrays chase the fish as they skipped out of the water to get away! We’d love to come back again - for longer though!

Motupipi is a hidden gem where you can completely relax without disturbance from other holiday makers. The accommodation is a step back in time …real Kiwiana. Very comfortable and well equipped for all your needs. Friendly hosts who welcomed us very warmly.Thank you Starr family , you have a gem waiting to be discovered by like minded people.

Home away from home. We didn’t want to leave and Kathryn, Gaylene and Hamish were very accomodating for us to stay an extra night. The Bach was very well equipt and had a great little BBQ to cook on each night. Beds were very comfy and overall stay was 10/10. We would love to come and back and stay again. Thank you so much for sharing your little peace of paradise with us!

An exquisite property. Wonderful to share this 3rd generation estate. Quiet and peaceful, an easy place to stay and a hard place to leave. Highly recommend.

Plenty of room and a great location for a getaway

For what we wanted, simply perfect. Terrific location, private and great for writing, which I was doing. And wonderful hosts - they were just right. Our peak experience in a Northland road trip.
